Is it bad that I'm actually hype for this? Like I know this is jumping the shark and it won't possibly do justice to Watchmen's legacy but I still want to see where it goes.
Which of the new rebirth releases do you all figure I should follow if I want to get the full story?

Yes, it is bad.

You need to be part of a hivemind slave.

Watchmen is overrated.

Rebirth is awesome.

Deal with it.

Titans and JLA (if and when the latter gets announced) are my big guesses for the pure Watchmen plotline.

The three big Batman books (Batman, Detective Comics, and All-Star Batman) will probably tackle the 3 Jokers at some point.

The two main Superman books (Superman, Action Comics) will probably tackle the "you're not who you think you are" plot at some point.

One aspect is that we don't actually know what's in the last 3/4s of each Rebirth one-shot (because we've only been given previews of the first 5-6 pages at this point). It's possible that they'll ALL have a thread containing some aspect to the Manhattan mystery. Or maybe they won't and they're just setting the series. We dunno.

But based on the plots of the solitications, we're not getting anything until *at least* the end of August, if not further than that.

>three big Batman books
>three Jokers
It's pottery. One Joker for each book.

Do you guys really didn't noticed that I said that he have to form his own opinions and ignore what other losers think?

I thought that the sarcasm was obvious.

Sounds like Abnett's Titans book is going to carry most of the story immediately following the Rebirth previews.

Holy shit that grammar. Do you actually expect people to pick up nuance from your posts when you can't even express yourself with correctly formed sentences?

>Watchmen's legacy
I keep hearing this, but I just found Watchmen to okay, not great, not horrible, just okay.

I'm still excited for Rebirth though, it'll be the first time I really dive into DC's stuff.

Obviously some people will disagree but I think Watchmen deserves the level of admiration it receives. The story is tightly woven and the characters are compelling and feel real. The art is excellent too. Just my opinion though.

Some stories just have an end, period. They aren't better served by continuing or... some new adventure. PLUS, It's really weird to me that Superman exists as a comic book in the watchmen universe so now I have all these questions I don't think anyone intends to answer in this story.

As for your own "hype", that's on you. I'm willing to over look some bullshit to fix some of the problems with 52.

Things like this are usually overall explained by sticking to the main titles. Bat Titles Supes JLA, and Flash I bet will cover just about everything.

No. Its a good idea.

Remind me again how Watchmen ends?

With Dr. Manhattan saying he's leaving to make new life, Ozymandius dealing with what he's done And Rorschach's Journal in the the "crazy" pile of that news paper maybe about to be picked up and read maybe not. A bunch of news reports about the incident halting the war and it being a miracle and Russia sending aid for the catastrophe, And Nite owl and Silk Spectre sleeping together.

Watchmen's great, but it's legacy isn't in any danger.
Even if this ends up being shit, it doesn't change the original.

>NOTHING ends, Adrian. Nothing EVER ends.

Not sleeping together. Married.

WAIT NO,
Nite Owl and Silk Specter vist her mom

>Which of the new rebirth releases do you all figure I should follow if I want to get the full story?

Nobody knows at this point? Somehow I think not even DC knows, they're kind of winging it.

and watch Outer Limits

Nah, they just say hi and then leave. Little bastards interrupted her TV show!

In the end? Nothing ever ends, user. Nothing ever ends.

Plus it's only Manhattan that is making an appearance, the rest of the roster most likely won't be introduced to the dcu.

We're jumping over that shark and tossing dynamite down it's throat!

Who wouldn't be hype? It's gonna be great.

I just want to see Rorschach again, just one more time. Even if it's just a cameo through a flashback or something to that effect, I'll still be happy.

>Which of the new rebirth releases do you all figure I should follow if I want to get the full story?
teen titans ft. Wally seems to be a must.
Batman Rebirth is about the 3joker mystery which may or may not be relevant to what Manhat did.

other than that, who knows.

His first sentence is fine though, you don't need to get mad because you didn't pick up on the sarcasm

>the rest of the roster most likely won't be introduced to the dcu.

You can't seriously believe in this.

It would be bad if you were hyped for it

Stories end...unless they're in comic books then they drag on and on every so often getting noticeably worse as new writers try to come up with fresh ideas to make you forget or in an attempt to rewrite the bad ones that came along in between. That themselves were just attempts to mix things up from the same monotonous story that had originally been told.

>Stories end
Name ONE.

The three little pigs.

Why would they? Manhattan's not a big enough fan favorite to present a risk. Using him is the safe option. If DC fucks him up, it won't generate the same amount of nerd rage you'd see if they fucked Rorschach or Ozymandias up.

Stories end, yes. Characters don't.

Yeah Watchmen is legitimately a GOAT comic, but nothing that happens in Rebirth is going to go back and change or invalidate it.

She doesn't look to bad.
She kind of looks like she killed someone and is thinking 'yup, not sucking my way outta this one'.

Solicitation charges or drug charges?

Got a sequel and multiple retellings/reboots.

So, I picked up DC Rebirth this week along with everything else I usually pick up. Is this a good jumping on point or will I be lost.

The characters are based on the assumption that Freudian psychoanalysis is an actual science. It's not. They're not "real" as much as they are "the type of characters people are used to seeing and expect to see due to them being the norm in movies and TV".

>Arrested:
>11/27/2011
>Charges:
>DWI, speeding, no proof of insurance

Enjoy: shelleylubben.com/porn-star-mugshots

Three little pigs has a sequel?
Is there a sequel to Goldilocks where she sleeps in other woodland animal family beds before being arrested for multiple counts of breaking and entering.

I bet you like the Endless being an official part DCU too.

>Is there a sequel to Goldilocks where she sleeps in other woodland animal family beds before being arrested for multiple counts of breaking and entering.

Actually... you might want to read Fables.

Also, if I'm interested in the new Titans book should I read Titans Hunt?

They already used Doc M, I can't see how they would restrain themselves and not use the other characters. At least four more.

>Based on the assumption that Freudian psychoanalysis is an actual science
Can you explain this opinion? Sounds like you're just using buzzwords.

They were always part of the DCU, retard. They mention the Justice League periodically, Arkham Asylum and Scarecrow make cameos in the first arc, Element Girl is a character, etc.

Most fairy tales have had people write sequels to them about what happened later. I've seen stories where the sequel to 3 pigs the wolf goes and meets red riding hood and the two pigs he ate gets saved by the huntsman along with red hood and granny.

I think it's a good jumping on point.

Rorschach/question team up when?

I just went back and re-read it, and thought it was pretty good. It doesn't really have a lot to do with Rebirth until the very end because the cause of everyone forgetting the team was due to something else besides Manhattan.

>shelleylubben.com/porn-star-mugshots

mother of god,man.

Like the DUI's are no big deal, The prostitution I expect, Possesion of drug paraphanalia is a BS charge no matter what, Domestic abuse, there had to be a few.

>Unlawful intercourse with a minor and rape. Illegal relationship with a 15-year-old boy from El Sobrante, for supplying the boy with illicit substances and for concealing him from his parents.

WTF ELISE
really?

They're part of the DCU the same way Thought Robot is you tard, intangible concepts outside of Sandman and Lucifer.

They were never meant to be seen in DC proper, unless complete and utter hacks write them in like Johns

Johns just needed a reality warper who at the same time represented cynism to create the basic metaphorical conflict of the dc universe. The other characters are too grounded to work within the dcu. Maybe they will be introduced in a few years from now when dc gets desperate enough, but I'm pretty sure that they won't matter that much in the rebirth storyline. If they are introduced, it will probably be as metaphores of the tone shift in the dc universe after the 80s.

My favorite is Ramon, it's specially funny if you know what kind of porn he does.

>Maybe they will be introduced in a few years from now when dc gets desperate enough

That's exactly what I'm saying.

>Implying these two are not Sam and Sandra Hollis

That analogy doesn't work, thought. The thought robot only exists to fight Mandrakk, he can't enter the world because that's not what he was written for.

Conceptual, abstract, non corporeal beings can walk the earth no prob in the dcu. The new gods are as abstract as the endless. So are the monitors. No reason why the endless should be an exception.

What I'm betting on is that we won't see any of the human characters from watchmen coexist dcu proper during rebirth (for at least 2 years). Hell, even Manhattan isn't being introduced exactly as a character, he's a metaphore for the polar oposite of the values of rebirth.

>Gotham dude is fit and buff and has brown hair, whereas Dan is fat and gross and has blonde hair and a mustache now

The only one you can make a tiny case for is Gotham Girl because Laurie was blonde the last time we saw her, even though her hair was short and she talked about improving her superhero persona by carrying around a gun.

It's not them.

So without knowing much about comics, how long do you think it will take them to continue the Dr. Manhattan plotline?

They changed their appearance once, why not again?
>It's not them.
You can't know that

They said they're taking the slow and steady path with this. Likely a year or two.

If the sales aren't good I can see them rushing it towards early 2017

It's common sense. They didn't even show Manhattan on-panel. With all of the Watchmen, there's going to be heavy build up and foreshadowing before any of them show up because DC's going to want to milk everyone's hype for all it's worth.

>The new gods are as abstract as the endless
No they aren't, they aren't even fucking close. The monitors are closer but still not at the level of the Endless.

The Endless weren't written to exist as tangible beings either thus the comparison is apt. The Endless aren't supposed to be seen outside of their stories, but they are anyway because the DC writing staff is fucking stupid. Just like the Watchmen aren't supposed to be seen in the mainline DC universe

I'm just glad to have Wally back

This would be better

Who's to say they reveal the identity of these two immediately? Seems to me like you are making a lot of assumptions.

The monitors are more archetypal than the endless because they are higher in the multiversal hierachy, according to the map. As for the new gods, pic related.

Wow this is so wrong. It's like instead of some that doesn't read comics and gets info from Sup Forums, they get info from a guy that read stuff on Sup Forums.

>Is it bad that I'm actually hype for this?
yeah
>Like I know this is jumping the shark

Then is fair,

You are a retard.

You might as well explain it. Everything in the sphere of the gods is non corporeal because they are separated from the physical multiverse by the speed force Barrier.

Because you literally are getting all your info from a map that isn't even accurate as a portrayal of the DC multiverse. The map was just supposed to be a cool little image to give an idea of how DC is a big and vast cosmos not the end all absolute defining. Hell even using your map you're still wrong cause it shows one Endless outside everything with his book and only includes Dreams realm. If you actually read comics and not just pastas and images on Sup Forums you'd no each of the Endless have a realm separate not all existing within Dream's.

>pic related
So the New Gods are gods? Okay, I wasn't arguing that, I was saying they're nowhere near as powerful as the Endless. Also they job all the time but I digress.

As for the Monitors being as high or higher on the cosmic food chain, I call bullshit on that until I see source. And even if it is, that just proves my point further that DC's writers are damn morons

I know that. How does it invalidate my point or support your idea, whatever it is? I don't even know what I'm arguing against.

>but they are anyway because the DC writing staff is fucking stupid.

Read Sandman again you stupid fag, but yes they are not suppose to be used as gimmicks.

Monitors and Endless have never interacted. However if Anti-Monitor is anything to judge Monitor power by Endless are clearly higher up.
Monitors are definitely higher up than New Gods as seen in Final Crisis when it was revealed Darkseid was a pawn for the real final boss Monitor.

The Morrisonian Monitors should be higher on the food chain than the endless, since they exist outside of the edges of the story and manipulate events from a higher point of view. They had machines that could destroy the multiverse and were nanotechnology in their world. The Multiverse devouring hyperflies were also minimal when compared with the regular monitors. The Monitors from countdown and the monitor of the original crisis don't even come close to either the Endless or the Morrisonian Monitors.

The anti monitor is a fraction of a monitor. Basically he was created when a monitor entered the multiverse and, due to the dual nature of the stories, he wa split in a positive and a negative half.

Exactly my point. The Endless are fucking power and not meant to be seen in the main DC books or events. That's why it's stupid for them to be seen in them, and why it's akin to the Watchmen being there too. It defies everything they were supposed to be when their books were originally written. Especially in Watchmen's case

I can't really think of any times Endless have shown up in other things outside of some light hearted tongue and cheek stuff. What events are you talking about that ruined the Endless for you and got you so mad?

>Calls me a stupid fag
>Yet ultimately agrees with me
Holy shit, it's like Sup Forums condensed into a single post

Death once showed up in action comics to Lex Luthor during a near death experience. She also showed up in a captain atom story where she was shown as a mere aspect of death. Gaiman was pretty pissed about the last one, apparently.

Would you use your brain cells for once in your life jesus christ you have infinite access to all human knowledge with 3 or 4 clicks.

Get off your greasy ass and google it. Hell im not even that guy, but christ.

First one was a tongue and cheek iirc. What did it mean she was an aspect of Death?

That she had to share the title with Nekron and the black racer. The race was inevitability, Nekron was death as the ultimate evil, and I don't remember what death was supposed to be. Seems pretty fair to me, I mean, if dc has several interpretations of the same concept they shouldn't dismiss one over the other.

I wouldn't say they "ruined" the Endless or Sandman for me, the same way this stupid event isn't going to "ruin" Watchmen for me. But it's still fucking stupid that they pull this shit.

And it doesn't matter if it's "light hearted and tongue and cheek" it shouldn't happen at all.

But let's assume that you had to stage lex Luthor near death experience. If he had to meet the personification of death, who would you have him meet? I mean, using another character would be dismissing Death's role as the absolute personification of death in the dc universe. Gaiman got mad the last time her role was diminished.

Anyone else thinks it wasn't Manhattan who killed Pandora and fucked up the timeline but a "reassembled" Rorschach with Manhattan's powers?

I wouldn't have written that at all, and if I did I would've been more subtle about it instead of just going 'lol here she is'.

Calling me names doesn't prove you right. Is it Freudian that Watchmen characters have motivations based on past experiences? I'm aware of Freud in a general sense and I've read Watchmen multiple times and based on that knowledge I'd say that calling the characters Freudian is just pseudo-intellectual buzzwording.

I dare you to describe to me one meaningful connection between a character characterization in Watchmen and Freudian psychoanalysis. No, Rorschach taking the Rorschach ink blot test does not count you fucking mongoloid.

I liked it more when I realized it's not really an attack on Watchmen, but the way that Watchman's "influence" has sorta shadowed comics since it came out as the result of people just trying to copy the superficial "grimness" of the comics without paying attention to the deeper layers of deconstruction and satire the series was actually about.

What sort of face is Batman making in this picture? It looks like he's going HURRRRRR with his teeth out like that.

How should I decide which books to support? LIke I'm pretty sure I want to buy Superman, but which book should I go for?

I'm looking foreward to it, too. People need to stop putting Watchmen on a pedestal.

Superman and Action Comics have pretty questionable writers.
All of the spin-offs (Superwoman, Supergirl, Super Sons, New Super-Man) look more promising.

But, ya know, just download the first issues of whatever you're interested in and buy/keep reading the ones you like.

Rorschach wouldn't destroy innocent lives and relationships even if he had a good reason to, because it's objectively evil.

>Is it bad that I'm actually hype for this?

I am DYING for Ozymandias to beat Batman into a broken pile of meat.

Because I'm thinking there is no other character who has enough plot armor to overcome all the Bat faggots who prop that piece of shit up.

I want Ozy to get run down by the Batman, and they get into hand-to-hand, and it looks like it might be close for a while...until Ozy lands a solid hit, and then another one, and the nose breaks, and teeth come out, and then Ozy breaks something, like a finger, then takes out a knee, and then it's just butchery.

And afterward, Ozymandias looks down at Batman and says, "I saw you coming thirty-five minutes ago. So I prepped a few tricks for you."

Ehn. I can dream.

I'm pretty sure that will happen, almost verbatim, then next issue Batman does the same to him even more spectacularly, using a whole city as a trap or something like that.

Because in the end Batman can't lose.

And then Batman at his most broken is forced to reach and use a gun breaking his every code in desperation and fires it at Ozymandias, who catches the bullet.

>then someone comes up from behind Ozy and hits him in the back of the head with a pipe/plank of wood/something you'd feasibly find in an alley
>"But didn't see me."
>Rorschach walks out of the shadows
>"Hope you prepared more, hurm."

Post yfw it happens.
