"Fuck you gay snake"

"How the fuck you shoot with this thing?"

>"Go to hell"
>"Where do you think I come from?"

I remember seeing this movie in a theater full of annoying hyperactive children and as soon as that moment happened some parents had to take their crying kids out of the theater. It was hilarious.

Power of cool.

thought the movie should have ended with him slithering away yelling "So long Brother" and everyone being like wait yall were actually brothers?

>best animation in any film
>incredible performances from every actor
>beautiful cinematography
>top tier dialogue
>prefect homage to Westerns
>completely forgotten about
What the fuck? Rango is easily in my top 10. Why the hell did no one see it?

Clichéd even by western standards. And that's fucking saying something.

And no animation quality in the world can save a movie that's 99% brown.

They were turned off by the hyper realistic animals who weren't "cutesy".

I had never known I wanted a banjo cover of Ride of the Valkyries before this movie.

Literally the only time that phrase would be considered appropriate in the past 10 years of people using it.

Rango was great.

There's nothing to complain about so it never gets discussed, unfortunately.

Well, for starters, it's a homage to western, crammed of adult humor, and very unsettling character designs.

Families won't go in droves to watch such a movie.

The weird thing is that the movie has some REALLY cross, infantile humor in it that I'm not sure if it was added to appeal to kids or just the writers not realizing how jarring it came across.

I love the realistic character designs in this movie.

SUCH A LUST

I want him to deepthroat my dick.

It combined action and humor very well but the characters were fucking ugly. So it doesn't looks like a children's film but since "Cartoons are for kids" it doesn't appeal to older audiences either.

Jake was top, I did not expect to like Rango as much as I did.

Probably due to the dissonance between the art style and the tone at some points. The overall "dirty" look the movie chose to have probably didn't help too much, either. It still easily ranks among my favorites.

haha
me too I play mgs!

Yep. I love how they did the opening scene as a cute, wacky, marketable fakeout before shifting to that gritty, dirty setting full of gnarly characters.

It was a nice way of saying "we COULD be bright and colorful and super-marketable, but we'd rather do something less accessible, something that's not supposed to appeal to everyone."

Posting best girl.

>Lilly goes berserk.jpg

Helluva good movie. Saw it by accident when I arrived too late to see another movie... thought wth, since i'm here... Funny to think that if I had known beforehand Depp was voicing I probably would have not paid to see it. Tough to say what was funnier, Beans catatonia or Priscilla's rejoinders..

>k'n I have yer boots when yer dead?
>No.
>got any gold fillins?
>NO!

>Funny to think that if I had known beforehand Depp was voicing I probably would have not paid to see it

That was actually the first thing I heard about it. I was also convinced it was stop motion until I finally saw it earlier this year.

I'm ashamed of myself for not seeing it earlier.

What's wrong with Depp?

He's a wifebeater

What does it have to do with movies?

He's got a very eccentric style of acting. It's a love it or hate it thing.

At least that's what I thought, because I was used to him in stuff like Tim Burton's shit. Turns out when he's got a good script he's a great actor.

Lone Ranger was unforgivable though.

Western just isn't everyone's thing.

Johnny depp = wife beater
Johnny depp = many characters
anytime someone sees or perceives Johnny depp or any of the characters he's played, the meme of wife beating spreads

>He's got a very eccentric style of acting. It's a love it or hate it thing.
>At least that's what I thought, because I was used to him in stuff like Tim Burton's shit. Turns out when he's got a good script he's a great actor.

So basically he is a good actor but specially good at doing weird characters. It is not even like other actors that always sound the same. How is that a bad thing?

I had no idea what it was about, never saw any trailers or commercials for it. The girl behind the counter knew my taste for Pixar/cgi stuff recommended it. It wasn't until the "Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas" scene did I really get into this movie. I consider it a cult favourite. :^)

Not a big fan but do like "Fear & Loathing" and "Blow".

Jake was the only redeeming thing about the movie. He was a big fucking cliche of the classic Western bad guy, but in a good way since he was made comprised of only the best elements. The voice talent, design, and dialogue communicated very well that he's seen and done some shit enough to know about what makes a man tick without actually expounding any of it to the audience. My favorite line was when he pretty much told the Mayor to fuck off and let him do the job he hired him for.

Also he had a cool gatling gun tail instead of a rattle.

As for the rest of movie, I didn't enjoy so much. As an homage to old Westerns, the plot felt very by-the-numbers. And I agree that most of the character designs were creative and keeping in tone with the Western feel, but ultimately too ugly to consider CGI as the right medium.

Jake remains one of my favorite movie villains and animated characters of all time. Too bad he was used in a such a mediocre flick.

Was surprised by this film desu. Never even thought to watch it but someone recommended it to me. Still thought it might be shite but it was a damn good watch

> the meme of wife beating spreads
I don't really follow celebrity lives like TMZ, so I really wasn't aware that "Depp is a wife-beater" was a meme.

>Yep. I love how they did the opening scene as a cute, wacky, marketable fakeout before shifting to that gritty, dirty setting full of gnarly characters.
>It was a nice way of saying "we COULD be bright and colorful and super-marketable, but we'd rather do something less accessible, something that's not supposed to appeal to everyone."
might be artistically sound, but from an economic standpoint, it's an absolutely retarded thing for any movie maker to do, especially since you're potentially screwing over a bunch of people financially(especially since the devil that is "Hollywood Accounting" makes it likely you'll get screwed over even if it is a success)

>Fear & Loathing
yeah I'd say that's probably his best role

Playing "Flight of the Valkyries" during the flying bat chase scene was a nice touch. LOL!

>How is that a bad thing?

I just said it. He has a very specific, very strange style of acting. It's appealing to some people but the worst thing about him to others. How does this not register with you?

Great movie

You also said
>Turns out when he's got a good script he's a great actor.

I mean, he is not like Jim Carey that always is Jim Carey...

his wife only went public with it recently. She has a restraining order and everything. She's bisexual and he'd beat her out of fear of getting cucked by some chick whenever she had too much of a social life outside him or spent too much time with lgbt activists

Because it was very, very cliché and had very few memorable characters. Even Rango wasn't that great.

>Now go Rango!
>Let the Legend come back to life!

... I liked Lone Ranger

Underrated film.

...

Why

Jesus christ why. What part of it appealed to you?

I fucking love this movie. God damn. It works as a Western, it works as a funny animal movie, it works as a parody. Shit just works.

The character designs are fantastic.

And it makes me thirsty every time I watch it.

We need more films like this, though, with the added tweak of "don't try to pander to children". It's not a full on adult film, but it's not your usual standard family film either. It shows that animation can have talking animals and be in a different genre besides "fun adventure!" and be fantastic. CG animation was the perfect medium for this and if it weren't for the stigma of "It needs to be for kids", this film might have found an audience better.

That's why we need more Rango's, to get away from that stigma.

>cops found no trace of the alleged beating
>put on doe eyes before a judge and ruin your ex-bf's life
Think he's a twat who's last good film was Fear and Loathing but c'mon.

On reading that, am struggling to think of a movie he's been in since, that's worth watching.

Neat thing about this movie, they had the Voice Actors actually act out the characters and use it for reference for animating

youtube.com/watch?v=srNcuhne0Y8

Rango was amazing.

Fuck such good designs.

That train sequence. I thought that was pretty cool.

Hah!

No I think Jake acknowledging that both he and Rango aren't long for the world was perfect.

So basically another bitch trying to cash in on feminism.

I saw it with my dad who grew up with it and he got a kick out of it?

It did win the Best Animated Movie Oscar, then again it competed in a year where they weren't any Disney or Pixar movies that could take it even undeservedly.

Greatest 3D animated film of all time.

...

The entire film should have been Rattlesnake Jake and Rango eventually working his way up to stop him. GOAT antagonist.

Honestly, I think part of what makes Rattlesnake Jake so GOAT is the fact you don't even get to see much of him in the movie and they build suspense to his reveal in the end.

Okay. What about the other four hours?

>Western
This might be a problem.

It's the best animated film of the 2010s so far.

Prove me wrong.

I don't need to. It's more than that too.

Jim Carrey has range too though.

I can't think of a single Jim Carrey movie I enjoyed. I was too old for Ace Ventura when it came out to find it funny, and everything seemed to be just either playing that over-the-top outrageous slapstick, or deathly dull like the Truman Show.

And, his eventual respect at the end when he realizes he's been used is satisfying as well.

>>"Go to hell"
>>"Where do you think I come from?"
>mfw

It took in about $125 million at the box office. I guess that's not great, but it could've done much worse.

>truman show
>dull
fuck you

fucking perfect

...I liked the Truman Show.

Eternal Sunshine was really good too.

Not really feeling it from any waifu in this movie. They were all kind of bitchy and ugly.

I wish more animated movies these days took risks like this. Now they are all DUDE FART JOKES LMAO

You want an animated movie that takes RISKS you say? Well boy howdy, do I have the animated movie for YOU!

Please no.

>"Look into my eyes... I wanna SEE you die."

>dat out of place prostate joke

Studios are more interested in making animated movies that can be cute and marketable.

These abominations are a testament to that.

Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind.

Truman show and Eternal Sunshine are two absolute classics and prove his ability to act. I find his schtick really annoying too.

>especially since the devil that is "Hollywood Accounting" makes it likely you'll get screwed over even if it is a success
user, 'hollywood accounting' basically means that you pay yourself to put yourself into "debt". You're still getting the money, the only people who get fucked are the actors and anybody else who's getting paid a percentage of the 'profit'.

Rango did alright economically, they didn't make gangbusters but they should have made back their cash and more.

So?
