Is this actually weird for non-Americans?

>under God
dropped

It's inherently fascistic.

It is very weird. It is still weird for me

Democracy is a meme.

Just see this pic. America was a happy, prosperous and patriotic country. And then leftshits ruined everything as always

...

To chant allegiance to your nation before starting a productive school day? Shouldn't be.

>pledging allegiance to a piece of cloth

It sounds pretty short for an allegiance pledge, but as long as nobody is forced to it I don't see the problem.

If you don't give a shit to Canada we can swap places.

No it hasn't, you haven't been to a school in like 12 years stfu

Actually the one thing that gets non Americans confused and uncomfortable is how the pledge of allegiance is us pledging ourselves to THE flag, and not to the nation. I've read the hymns of other nations and I think the only other one that did that was North Korea. If it was to the nation they'd probably be fine with it.

A lot of states require it. In Georgia it's a state law and I've seen kids kicked out of class and disciplined for not saying it.

The flag is an extremely important thing in the U.S. There's a law that requires it not touch the ground and if it somehow does it must be symbolically disposed of by shredding each stripe while reciting some creed. My family did it when ours fell during a storm.

how is that not compelled speech (i.e. a violation of the First Amendment)?

Freedom ain't free when you want to instill patriotism instead of nationalism in the good old USA.

Exceptions.

Free speech but don't disrespect the flag.

ah,freedom

>leftshits ruined everything as always

>pledging ourselves to THE flag,
it's like a christian swearing on the bible. they're not searing on leather-bound pieces of paper. they're swearing to god. the book is just a symbol of the christian god. the flag is just a symbol of the nation.

in how many layers of freedom does your brain hve to be to be ok with this shit?

a lot of states have laws that are not legally enforceable. some states abolished slavery long after the federal government did. that doesn't mean that there were still slaves in those states though. just that slavery was still on the books there.

7 layers, like their tacos.

Why do you pledge allegiance to the flag and not to the Constitution?

that is a burrito you stupid leaf

The flag is an amalgamation of the unity of all ethnic groups of the USA. There may be some that don't agree with the government or what they're doing at they moment, so in order to ensure unity between all groups, the flag represents their new home that they're now a part of.

>The Bellamy salute is a palm-up salute described by Francis Bellamy, the author of the American Pledge of Allegiance, as the gesture which was to accompany the pledge.
Pic related, the Bellamy salute

>If it was to the nation they'd probably be fine with it.
No, it's still pants on head retarded at best, cancerous nationalistic indoctrination at worst.

>but don't disrespect the flag
Yet allow it to disrespect the freedom of the people? Do Americans realise how much this sort of bullshit flies in the face of all the muh freedumb propaganda they happily vomit everywhere?

Stop posting on Sup Forums, Sup Forumsmonkey.

Yeah we had a Roman salute fetish too. After Germany started itching for another war we had to change it to the current one.
Why not just acknowledge the memes on how Americans are different from the rest of the world and realize that the brainwashing techniques are really interesting.

Literal brainwashing

>And Liberty and Justice for All
with* you commie fuck

We still have the Lord's Prayer in public schools where I live in Sask.

Pledges shouldn't be a thing.
No, it's to the country.

This is coming from a country where school pledges are even bigger of a tradition than they are in America.

Yes, it sounds like they're enlisting in the army every time.

Nothing wrong with it. Can't understand the dislike.

By "can't understand" I mean literally does not compute. How is this brainwashing? It's social conditioning at best.

Why are Europeans so fucking gay

>white "people"

>republic
In days of yore, from Britain's shore,
Wolfe, the dauntless hero, came
And planted firm Britannia's flag
On Canada's fair domain.
Here may it wave, our boast, our pride
And, joined in love together,
The thistle, shamrock, rose entwine
The Maple Leaf forever!
The Maple Leaf, our emblem dear,
The Maple Leaf forever!
God save our Queen and Heaven bless
The Maple Leaf forever!

A Dane doesn't need a made-up pledge to a made-up flag to remember he's a Dane. He doesn't need to be forced by the government to be a patriot.

Exactly, it became so routine that honestly no one cared about it come high school. It was just that thing you did before school started.

It’s not required anywhere. Thankful it isn’t either. Pure indoctrination

Then I was lied to.

T. Cletus

There is no law regarding the flag. I can shit on it, wipe my ass with it, then burn it, and literally no legal action can be taken against me

Yes very weird, what your nations offers to you? It’s nothing other than corporation rule dystopia.

Don't lie. Americans burn American flags all the time. There's no law against it.

...

Please stop trying to communicate with us.
We do not understand you.
You sound like a 6 year old.

>Americans ITT talking about all these insane flag customs
Do you guys live in Bumfuck Nowhere or some shit?
In civilized parts of this country no one gives a shit what you do to the flag, as long as you're the owner of it
As for the pledge, everyone stops doing it by the time they're in high school

No one said there was a law against it. It's just a ritual.

Law? Who said anything about a law against it? It's just a custom.

>There's a law that requires it not touch the ground and if it somehow does it must be symbolically disposed of by shredding each stripe while reciting some creed.

Yes, i know what a national flag is, i have one too. But since the USA was founded on the principles of the Constitution, it would make more sense to pledge allegiance to that...

he is probably 15 though

Very

...

God bless

Only the C*nadian faggot dislikes this.

>Can't understand the dislike.
Because you're brainwashed.
>social conditioning
Euphemism for brainwashing.

looks satanic tbqh

Most people know the words and say it every day but do they really understand what they mean?

How much do Murricans love their flag?

I pledge allegiance, to the flag, of the United States of America.
And to the Republic, for which it stands, one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

>tfw used to be an edgelord
>tfw always refused to say 'under God'

It misses the "sieg heil" in the end but whatever.

My high school didn't do the pledge of allegiance, elementary and middle school did though

post national anthems

Most countries doesn't even sing their national anthem every morning in school.

Glad we do though

>Pledging allegiance to a piece of fabric

plebs

Had to do the pledge from kindergarten all the way to my freshman year in high school. Didn't really think much of it. What other nations sing a pledge or their national anthem, Canada?

National Anthem every morning and every classroom had to have a Canadian flag of some kind in it so you can stand towards it during the anthem, at least that's how it was in my school division. Schools used to also do God Save the Queen but only a few schools still do that sadly

>being, inherently, a slave
You do not possess the sharpest mind, my friend.

>Living under a Monarch makes you slave
>Communist regimes are okay though

Love this logic

So, under monarchy, tractor driver can become a minister or something?

Yeah my government representative is a farmer

...

>And Liberty and Justice for All
Are they even know what it means?

I said tractor driver, not a farmer.
Farmer possesses the capital.
Tractor driver drives a tractor.

any sense of pride in their nations was bombed out of them in the world wars

now they take pride in being ruled by the EU and importing refugees

Famers here drive their own tractors usually

>Are they even know what it means?

>we
you had nothing to do with it, unless given the slim possibility you're 70+ of age

Nah, enlistments start by swearing to support and defend the constitution of the United States. Civilians are just meant to abide by it.

>One nation, inddivisible
What's wrong with saying this instead

You gotta go back, Jon.

eat shit OP

Get you ass back to Moscow, socialist

>t. moscow
lmfao

it's patriotic not facistic.

There is nothing wrong.

The original didn't include "under god."

"under god" was added during the cold war, to distance the US from the atheist communist.

>leftshits
The US was founded by "leftshits."

The founding fathers, the ideals, and constitution of the US were very lefty at the time.

It's like you only red the first line.

"and to the republic for which it stands"
The flag is symbolic of the country. The pledge is to the country, but is usually done in the presence of a flag.

>pledging allegiance to some old hag
Monacucks are the worst.

i lived in canada during kindergarten and first grade. i forgot about this. that was fucking annoying. we had to walk down 3 flights of stairs to pile into the gymnasium for that shit.

Kinda yeah. I get that flag is a pretty clear cut and unambiguous symbol of your country but even so, treating a mere symbol with a ritualistic prayer?

>fucking sjws shitting on established traditions and institutions and disrespecting the king reeeeee

I pledge allegiance
