X-Men Apocalypse thread EVERYTHING THEY BUILT WILL FALL Edition
So now that X-Men Apocalypse has come out and is panned worse than X-Men the Last Stand (also ASM2 and MoS), what will fix do with another hater movie? I mean, on one hand, they have Deadpool. But they also had Trank's FF.
What should Fox do to improve the X-Men franchise and make them not suck?
Should they focus on smaller X-Men like they did with Deadpool? (Maybe a Doop movie? A Longshot movie?)
Should they reboot the whole universe and start over?
Should they make a deal with Marvel Studios like Sony did and have MS make their movies using their characters?
I say fire Singer and bring in fresh blood. Someone like Tim Miller who knows to have Fun with the X-Men characters (and isn't afraid of fun costumes).
So that we can have Wolverine teaming up with Captain America during WW2.
And Peter Parker dating Kitty Pryde.
And Beast on the Avengers.
And Spider-Man teaming up with Iceman and Firestar.
And World War Hulk.
And Storm dating Black Panther.
And Wolverine vs the Hulk.
And Rogue fighting Carol.
And the Avengers vs X-Men.
And good costumes.
David Stewart
Gads, just looked at the weekend box office, is this thing even going to break 100 million over the 4 day holiday weekend?
Easton Morgan
get Joss Whedon to direct the movies
Joshua Jackson
Not enough angst.
Easton Jones
No. It's not going to break it in the following 4 days either unless it's fucking lucky.
Overseas opening weekends indicated a final gross expectation half that of DoFP; that appears to be born out by the domestic as well. $375m is possibly still low, but I would not expect to see $500m on this showing. Very poor.
Jackson Gray
I say either Tim Miller should take over or bring back Vaughn.
Michael Cooper
Will probably just catch this movie on TV.
Hope it has an ass shot to go along with this scene, at least.
Bentley Hill
A franchise can survive one bad installment. The franchise is in a much healthier position than it was after TLS and as long as the next thing they release is good no one will notice
Christian Lewis
X-Men Apocalypse? More like CRAPocalypse!!!!
Gavin Allen
yes there was, movie was good cant understand all the hate way better than last stand
Anthony Sanchez
>Storm dating Black Panther fuck off Hudlin
Jose Lopez
The problem with the movie that Apocalypse is boring (especially compared to Civil War's breath-taking performance of Zemo). And the movie focus on Magneto (AGAIN). You might as well call it Magneto-Men at this point.
Benjamin Lopez
I already hate this pasta
Jordan Scott
>I hate Fun A Wolverine/Captain America WW2 movie and Spidey and his Amazing Friends movie might seem uncanny but would be astonishing.
Jaxson Gomez
...
Jose Hernandez
It's TRUE. The X-Men in the MCU would be eXcellent.
Daniel Bell
Explain this
Thank god you will never get what you want
Kayden Bailey
Vaughn and his writer Jane Goldman are only coming back if Mark Millar allows it.
Samuel Cooper
Just got back from seeing it. It had its moments, and overall I had a good time. I liked Cyclops splitting the tree in half, and Nightcrawler fighting Angel. I also liked Singer's take on Caliban. My biggest complaints are the same ones we all have with all the other Singer X-Men movies. >cyclops doesnt do anything important >storm doesnt do anything important >too much mystique (and she doesnt do anything important) >stakes are way too high, and the only characters that really matter are jean, xavier, and magneto >they let magneto go again (what the actual fuck?) >black leather flight suits >quicksilver is a fucking meme x-man
Overall, I'd say it was about as good as DOFP, maybe marginally better for having Cyclops and Nightcrawler. Not total shit, but not great either. >#1 X2: X-Men United >#2 Deadpool >#3 X-Men: First Class >#4 X-Men >#5 X-Men: Apocalypse >#6 X-Men: Days of Future Past >#7 The Wolverine >SHIT: X-Men Origins: Wolverine >SHIT: X-Men III: The Last Stand
Matthew Cook
?
Aiden Evans
Yes, it's a negative review of Apocalypse that also says that it was the best capeshit movie this year. I wonder what does that mean
Kayden White
>I wonder what does that mean That the person is either autistic or never seen Civil War?
>this one autistic reviewer speaks for all critics and the state of superhero films
90% of critics loved Civil War and it's the Citizen Kane of capefilms (Capekino)
X-Men Apocalypse is dogshit and has a rotten RT score. People are coming out disappointed.
Fox and WB may be dying, but Marvel is just getting started!!! >THIS HOW YOU DO IT!!!!
Marvel Studios for le win.
*Mic Drop*
Robert Cooper
No need for being buttblasted, marveldrone.
People say that Apocalypse has negative reviews on RT, but I feel like they don't even read the negative reviews, because a lot of negative reviews aren't really that negative, and some also criticize Civil War as well.
Chase Bell
What this guy says is that capeshit sucks, but somehow Apocalypse sucks less. LEL
David Anderson
>because a lot of negative reviews aren't really that negative But most of them are. Singer was too busy having sex with little boys than making a good movie. >and some also criticize Civil War as well A few do. Kinda like how some people hate Citizen Kane.
Anthony Miller
you know, if you want to bait, at least do it properly
Benjamin Kelly
Except Captain America Civil War doesn't suck. It's the best cape film of the year. The guy just hates good movies.
Gavin Thomas
Citizen Kane is dogshit, when compared to Civil War
Exactly. It's the best movie I have ever seen in my life. Fuck them. Civil War > Literally everything else
Isaac Powell
>implying it's bait Your movie is dogshit, Singer. Stop having sex with little boys and go kill yourself. But before you do that, tell your bosses to give the X-Men and FF rights back.
Matthew Jones
Everything is dogshit. Only Civil War is good. Civil War is the best thing since sliced bread.
Joshua Ortiz
DC should sell Batman and Superman to Marvel. Image comics should sell everything to Marvel. Marvel is love. Marvel is life
Lucas Kelly
Are we ever going to have an X-Men movie that doesn't focus on Magneto, Prof X, Magneto, Wolverine, Magneto, Mystique, and Magneto?
Leo Nelson
I know your being sarcastic but GiAnt-Man's scene was a thousand times better than the shitty Quicksilver scene.
Samuel Allen
In 10 years that might actually happen. Though it would be Disney buying out DC and Image.
John Wood
Are you this angry that Civil War won?
Dylan Watson
I think Marvel would actually make a decent Marvel vs DC movie.
Benjamin Roberts
just imagine a universe where superman and captain america fight evil together
Asher Brown
I'm dead serious. Civil War was the best thing ever. It was better than sex.
Hell yeah. I want to be bought by Disney too, I hope that they will want to buy me :(
Oliver Jenkins
...
Christian Lee
I think Marvel would actually make decent everything. Feige should be the president of United States.
Imagine a universe where Zorro, Batman, Nighthawk fight crime together
Bentley White
It seems really low. The opening weekend on USA was 35 million lower than DOFP. I already saw it making less than DOFP due to Civil War, but fuck.
Brody Cook
Zemo was boring as shit what are you talking about? He's a noncharacter
Joseph Lee
Nice meme shitlord I'm disappointed that you didn't post evans. What's the matter? Getting slow recently?
Luke Foster
Yeah, they aren't that negative, in fact, most of the reviews are more positive than Civil War. X-Men won.
Bentley Robinson
...
Chase Ross
>Leave twinkino to me.
Christian Martinez
Either post Evans, or fuck off
Leo Moore
...
Asher Cruz
Yep, that 49% and ROTTEN score on RT shows that more people loved X-Men Apocalypse than Captain America and their 90% score an certified Fresh.
Truly, Marvel Studios need to be afraid of Fox. What will they do next??? Have Trank rape the X-Men?
Wyatt Foster
Well, then fuck off
Mason Martinez
Exactly, X-Men won, and it's probably going to get a huge bump when this word of mouth spreads. It'll break the 1 billion barrier easily tbqh.
Austin Campbell
>Have Trank rape the X-Men? sounds legit.
Robert Perry
...
Ian Campbell
>And Spider-Man teaming up with Iceman and Firestar.
Those sound like some amazing friends.
Eli Diaz

Angel Sanders

Brandon Campbell
>Michael B. Jordan as Cyclops
Jason Collins
are we going to do this until we run out of memes?
Xavier Martin
80 mill isn't terrible, but it should have done much better for a memorial day opening. Is it possible that most people are just kinda done with the X-Men movies? Days seemed like a logical jumping off point, it brought everything together. Maybe most folks saw that and decided "alright, the series is over now. I'm content." Everything else is just an epilogue at this point.
Nicholas Walker
No, I'm going to fap to Evans. You can stay here.
Mason Cox
...
Jaxon Murphy
fag
Ethan Lee
My biggest problem with this movie was that Fox didn't have the balls to shake up the status quo in any major way. I mean, its Apocalypse for christ's sake. There should have been major consequences.
This movie should have ended with Mystique and Xavier dying, further motivating Magneto to become good and fight against Apoc. It should have ended with Magneto replacing Xavier as leader of the X-men, thus cementing this timeline as radically different from that of the original films and ensuring fans of the franchise that the new films will be fresh and original.
Grayson Nguyen
Put her in the movie and X-Men is fixed.
Christian Watson
Uhhhhh
>using fag as an insult on Sup Forums oy vey
Gabriel Davis
Can you imagine if they let him direct X-Force?
Charles Diaz
>jewish fag
Adrian Ramirez
>Is it possible that most people are just kinda done with the X-Men movies? Maybe. It doesn't help that Apocalypse doesn't really bring anything new to the table.
Deadpool was popular because it was different. It was over-the-top, crazy, bloody, and funny.
Apocalypse is just generic superhero movie with a boring villain with boring costumes and it's only big draw is boring destruction porn that hasn't been original since Independemce Day.
Fox's X-Men needs a big revamp.
Mason Rogers
>And Storm dating Black Panther
No, that is a terrible idea.
Isaiah Cruz
I may like your Xmen movies
But your taste in guys is trash.
...Except Angel ...And Young Apocalypse ...And Nightcrawler
but the rest of the pretty boy twinks are pleb tier.
Sebastian Moore
havok and angel apparently died. but i agree with you. if youre going to turn the stakes up to 11 like that, then at least have the balls to show some people dying in the chaos. they really should have killed off a major character everyone is tired of like mystique or magneto. this would have been the perfect opportunity to do something like that.
Lincoln Carter
How does Singer manage to cast some of the worst actors ever? The person playing Jean was godawful. And JLaw was bored as hell throughout the movie. And Fassbender was chewing the scenery.
Jeremiah James
Iceman was the worst.
Brody Cruz
doesn't it show there's an issue with the critics when they're that far from the audience?
Liam Brown
Singer casts Game of Thrones stars for his cast for some reason
Elijah Murphy
Not that far. The auidience is like 70% now. Just 10% higher than people who liked X-Men the Last Stand. But not as good as Zootopia.
Liam Rodriguez
How is Alice in Wonderland doing out of curiosity?
Henry Hall
I went in expecting a shit show, but I came out enjoying it. It's not a bad film, but not a great one either.
It's like Quantum of Solace. It's not a bad film, but I'll probably forget it exists.
John Jackson
>Is it possible that most people are just kinda done with the X-Men movies? No, Deadpool was received well, people are getting tired of Singer's format for X movies. They're just making bad films, and the audience is responding to it.
Michael Taylor
So, I like the MCU and all, but for some reason, I love the feel of the X-Men films. Everything feels bigger and larger. It feels like a lot of the MCU stuff is stuck on sets, while X-Men feel like globe trotting epics.
Does anyone else feel this?
Jacob Harris
This Singer is over-rated and the only good X-Men movie he made is X2.
Henry Perry
not really, no. Avengers felt big. Deadpool felt small. I think it depends on the movie and the director and stuff.
Robert Hill
>I totes love the MCU my fellow homedogs, but don't you love FoX-Men even more than the boring lame MCU! >I mean FoX-Men is just so amazing and they make everything amazing! >you should spend money on more shitty FoX-Men movies instead of good from the MCU Oh gee, I wonder who's behind this post!
Seriously, Fox Employee, instead of shilling your shitty movie here why don't you tell your bosses to stop raping the X-Men? Mmmkay? Or are you afraid of losing your shill job?
Ian Long
I actually thought Avengers felt small. Most of the film was stuck in the Helicarrier and then most of the Battle of New York was fought on the same street. The world didnt' feel big. It just felt like a TV show.
I don't know why, but I look back and Raimli Spider-Man and then the X-Men films and there is a sense of grandness to everything. But the MCU just keeps feeling like everything is trapped on sets. I love the MCU, but for some reason it just doesn't feel like they are as big as they can be.
Joshua Walker
And even that wasn't really a good movie as it was 90% a Wolverine movie.
Shit, say what you will about Hawkeye in the first Avengers movie, but he wasn't treated as bad as Cyclops in X1&2.
Anthony Brooks
>So now that X-Men Apocalypse has come out and is panned worse than X-Men the Last Stand
That only says movie criticism boils down to panning anything a PR agency did not pay them not to slander to death.
They are retarded if they do believe it was worse than last stand. They are entitled to their opinions, and I am entitled to ignoring them if as I disagree with them.
Ryan Scott
Fox's movies are all literally ninety percent filmed in green screens and sets
Alexander Ward
Oh for fucks sakes. I think the MCU balances characters very well and continues to build great stories. But the world feels small in the MCU. I never really get the sense that civilians have a presence in these films compared to something like Spider-Man. It feels like we're trapped in small locations in a lot of the MCU films. For example, the battle of New York is mostly on that one street, and most of the AoU fight is in that cathedral, which the Avengers were at in the start of the film.
I don't know if it's how it's shot or what details they leave out, but the MCU just doesn't feel grand enough. The world just doesn't feel as big as it should be. And I say this as someone who gets really excited for each MCU film that comes out and see them opening night.
Brayden Cook
And most of the Avengers films are on sets.
God, why are you trying to make me seem anti-MCU? I just feel like the MCU is missing something.
Cooper Lee
>MCU is missing something Yeah, the MCU is missing all the characters wearing black latex and all the actors being played by talentless twinks that the director raped. *rolls eyes*
Julian Martin
Dufe, don't let that shitposter trick you into thinking his intention isn't to rile shit up this thread.
Besides, there are indeed some problems with the MCU, but I think it's rather the fact that they use a LOT of directors for eaxh film, and that's why it doesn't feel connected up until Captain America: The Winter Soldier's release, and again, up until Perlmutter got the boot from Marvel Studios.
Christian Cooper
Not really, but I always kind of felt more like the X-Men movies were more "real", and for adults, and not in the laughably grim "please take us serious" way of the DCEU. I mean the use of mostly true-to-life colors, more creative interesting uses of the "people with powers" concept, like Mystique in the first X-Men movie, when you didn't always know who was real or a disguise, and the real history and allegorical political questions.
For instance, the X-Men movies weren't afraid to make Magneto actually be a Holocaust survivor, and open with a scene of him in the camps. The MCU felt the need to make Cap's enemies in WWII HYDRA instead of actual Nazis, and changed Red skull Zola to HYDRA, partly to avoid questions of actual Nazi atrocities
Austin Phillips
>people are surprised a movie revolving around literally the worst Marvel villain is bad
Adrian Hughes
Dem Joobs.
Adrian Edwards
I think a big problem is that most of the MCU has battles in cities and it gets a bit repetitious. Age of Ultron has one in South Africa, South Korea and Sokovia.
Leo Anderson
It's sad that a show from the 90s did everything better than these shitty movies
Andrew Turner
So... was the blackface(technically purple face) part ignored? They has a half Gautamalan playing a guy from pre unification Upper Egypt.
