It is extremely easy to dismiss some things that are said in the bible as products of their time that can’t be held to today’s standards, but the reality is that literally everything that was warned against has been shown to be detrimental in modern times: gay rights, polygamy, sexual promiscuity, etc. Even the things that are not immediately obvious to be bad, like women’s rights are warned against in both the old and new testaments. It is clear to me now that the bible truly was the best set guideline for humanity to achieve prosperity and that any deviation from its teachings leads to chaos. I understand my parents and grandparents now, they truly were wiser than I have ever been and it was my mistake to refuse to follow them for so long.
