Lotor/Sinclaine has a very pure and real love for her, only problem is he only knows how to take what he wants. So he attempts to take her by any means. He may love her completely, but that doesn't change the fact he is evil and ruthless and a conquering space prince.
He wants her for his own. And while he loves her dearly, its never been the most healthy of relationships.
Which is one of the reasons why I always loved him as a character. He is completely in love, but he is also a monster. Which makes his reasons for his villainy and his whole existence as Zarkon's son and heir much more interesting. Always has.
