Why does Galactus need to eat inhabited planets? Why can't he eat Pluto?

Why does Galactus need to eat inhabited planets? Why can't he eat Pluto?

Pluto's not a planet

He doesn't. That was the surfer's whole shtick as Herald is that he'd lead galactus to only uninhabited planets

He feeds on the planet's energy.

Yeah but there's a certain criteria it needs to fit and inhabited planets typically hold.
He can also just eat a fucking Sun.

He doesn't need to eat inhabited planets.
He just doesn't much care/notice whether they're inhabited or not before he starts munching.

How does he eat planets? Does he use a cosmic knife and fork?

He doesn't, he just prefers to. That's why he's an antagonist.

Then it seems likely that the particular range of compositions of planets which can natively support or give rise to life also contain the nutrients necessary to sustain Galactus.

Like how you have to eat the same shit you find in abundance on this planet, because it's what your body can handle.

He uses a machine that converts the planets into energy.

You mean a giant blender?

He doesn't care about the planet, he subsists off the celestial egg within some planets

Yeah, also it's been shown that the plants Galactus eats can become capable of supporting life again.

>he subsists off the celestial egg within some planets
That's Earth X not 616 dummy

...

Yeah, I like a lot of the ideas in Earth X though

>Will it blend? That is the question!

Superman actually made him promise not to eat inhabited planets anymore (in a crossover)

To be fair that was Kirby's original plan

pretty sure that's still true of 616 though

Basically every civilized planet has a doomsday clock, and when your time is up Galactus comes knocking. And I think the celestial egg thing was made canon in Hickman's two SHIELD series

He doesn't, but the type of planet he does need to eat also happen to be the type that can support life, that's the energy he feeds off of. The other part of it is that he's also supposed to be the natural predator of Celestials; he eats the planets that they are using to incubate another of their kind which limits how many of them can exist. Theoretically he could just hunt them straight up, but seeing as base humans can get him to back off Celestials are probably too much trouble.

>Pluto
I see what you did there

pluto on suicide watch

Galactus VS. Mogo when?

why would galactus eat a dog?
