Explain

Can some one explain to me why there are so many people demanding to make the most iconic superheroes gay or sexual ambiguous or fat? I'm for diversity in comics by why not create new heroes instead of turning every hero into a fat chicks wet dream?

Because characters can't be friends anymore, everyone has to be paired.
I blame Internet and Tumblr, as always.

op here
I have a hard time believing that those who truly want diversity act like racists themselves.

isn't this all just to get back at white men who had it "good" for too long? Or is it that since no one really likes the female fantasy medium as much they have to push it on male driven comics?

Because people who want diversity are selfish. If someone makes a character who's gay, they're not superman. Nobody cares about this random new gay character. But people care about superman. People want to shove superman's gayness into peoples' faces

Porn

then it's not about diversity any more

- Clark's Dropbox was full of work about Batman
- Despite Perry ordering Clark numerous times to cover sports, Clark insists on writing about Batman
- Clark immediately asks 'who is that?' when Bruce arrives at Lex's function
- Alfred commenting on how a next generation of Waynes is unlikely
- Bruce unconvincingly complimenting Mercy Graves on her shoes
- Bruce: "I'm a friend of your son's"
- Bruce waiting a considerable amount of time from first switching on the Bat-Signal to when Clark arrives
- Bruce's expression when Superman is standing right in the middle of the path of the Batmobile
- Bruce's email to Diana was lacking the charm of a straight billionaire CEO
- The way Clark aggressively walks towards Bruce during their fight
- The smirk Bruce gives when Clark arrives at the Bat-Signal; "Well, here I am"
- The anti-Superman protestors were clearly based on anti-gay protestors
- "MMM! BOYS!!!"

Fangirls' homolust, simply as that.

Some heroes, like Batman, (Batman/Robin, Batman/Superman) had gay undertones for decades.
As for "creating new heroes" - this usually doesn't work out. With "The Movement", DC tried to create a new diverse team full of women of color and LGBT characters.

Anyone remember The Movement? No?

Like, there are possibilities of success, like with Kamala Khan, but it's much more risky business (and it might not even last - Milestone characters used to be well liked and popular, and now barely rememembers them). Diversifying existing characters simply makes it more likely that it will stick, so people are simply asking for a change that is more efficient.

Whenever I'm at a loss on people's motivations I try to translate the scenario to something more relatable to me.
I'm not a fag hag so I choose something that does appeal to me as a stand-in. What if there was next to no cheesecake in comic books? It would be cool if there were more characters introduced that centred around fanservice, but it would be even cooler if characters that already were popular and had lots of material would include these themes.
Would I go on the internet and advocate for WW to show her boobs more? No, but you've got to remember that the difference between cheesecake and gay fetishization is that loving gays scores you progressive points. So it's also virtue signalling.

but there is a thing called fanfiction and fanart. Why still bother?

>How can I be a homo, Bruce, I'm not even human. ;)
>Stop winking at me, Clark, or I swear to God-
>God's not here, Bruce, it's just you and me.

Someone asked mark hammil if Luke was gay because he idolized him and if Luke couldn't be gay than he would just kill himself because he had nothing to live for. So of course said sure.

These gays in our generation are so weak skinned that they can't handle fictional characters being straight. And yeah straight white women who feel guilt for their 2/3 privelage campaign for them

I do remember, but wouldn't it be looked at as a poor attempt any ways. It seems to me the people who are calling for diversity just want control. If some one else did it, sjw would still bitch because they didn't do it.

But your ship has to be canon, how else will you win?

yeesh

but this is the problem then, I don't get my way I will kill myself? Maybe we are too privelaged, but it seems to me the ones who are complaining are the most privelaged of us all.
Or there is a mental illness pandemic

in my fanfic I guess, but that's not enough for these people I guess, they must ruin it for everyone.

there was this girl I spoke to and she was tumblr personaefied
She would state that if a change wasn't for PC reasons, it should be.
she's a young woman, her boyfriend would say stupid shit like ant man movie was mysoginistic at parts.
It's like they don't pay attention to history.

but don't they have their own medium as well, those twilight books, and movies and all that other myer Scifi crap? Why does everything have to be like that?

What the hell does Twilight have to do with gay superheroes?

vampires with additional powers, constantly pandering to white girls,
shipping vampires together
it seems to me that this is what they want comics to become.

Oh, look, sjw boogeymen. "Just want control" what the fuck does that even mean? "If someone else did it" what do you mean by 'someone else'? What are you rambling about?

I genuinely have no idea what you're talking about, or how this relates to this thread.

Twilight was a fruity romance series, it has nothing to do with more diverse characters in comic books.

Bro...deep down, it never was.

It's pretty much character design that makes passive yet sexually appealing art.

When men are drawn like female MMA fighters, you can expect both men to fuck like women and there's demand for that from both sexes.

Look at Kyoto Animation "Free". All the male characters are drawn like women, and thus you're basically seeing a male version of yuri.

it's a political thing, if one side isn't the ones to bring out change but the other side may have a chance the former would be up in arms saying they could do it better.

What "sides" are you even talking about?

well let's say the red pillers and sjws ok? now the people in between those two are normal people like you user, now you make a comic that is diverse, but it also has a white male in it who is straight. Now you think this might please both sides, but it doesn't because the two sides would have better ideas. Like making the white guy have a boyfriend. Or white washing the rest of the cast. so on and so forth, so what I am saying is that since certain people aren't in control of your comic book which let's say gets widely popular. You made it diverse but since sjws aren't in control they hate it and ignore all the work you put into it. Same with the redpill.

because they are literally a bunch of faggots devoid of any actual creative spark

Wtf are you going on about. Do you mean that male characters who are drawn as leaner make people want gay fanart of them? That more manly characters aren't shipped with other men?

And aside from a slight lack of muscle definition in some characters the Free characters are drawn like swimmers, not women. It's also a fanservice show much like a lot of other anime and isn't even classified as shounen ai so it's not "male yuri" at all.

He's saying books like that pander to the demographic that demands more diversity in comics and questioning why they don't fuck off back to their own cultural niche and push for diversity in fruity urban fantasy shit rather than bothering people who actually read comics.

Male characters with feminine figures absolutely get slashed more. Look at how fujoshits infested Transformers Prime because the characters had thin waists and broad hips.

That's idiotic, just because it's a subculture doesn't mean it doesn't deserve mainstream pop culture to pander to it.

>had gay undertones for decades.
Strong platonic relationships between two men can be fairly homoerotic. This does not mean that they're gay for each other.

A lot of masculine activity has homoerotic undertones. Just look at the military. Or a boy's locker room. This doesn't mean that everyone involved has the hots for everyone else and want to bone.

sometimes I envy women as how it easy for them to like homoerotic art. but then I remember I don't really care about most women(and men) at all, so yeah.

dunno, if this was ancient greece those dudes would be fucking already.
stigma against the label prevents homosexual behavior where-areas in ancient times it's be just bros helping bros out giving each other 'relief''. it wasn't 'gay'.

Exactly

I think it's just fans' taking their headcanons to the extreme. Like, I want some male characters to get together, but I know that won't happen, yet it's still nice to think about.

But, on OP's question about "why not create new heroes," new, original heroes don't sell. Look at superhero comics right now. All the "new" heroes are just legacy characters, like Miles Morales, Kamala Khan, Whor, the new Robin, Wonder Woman's twin brother, the new Superman. A new character that isn't based on an already pre-existing hero does not sell. It's upsetting and sad, to be honest, but that's just the case. So, creating new, diverse heroes wouldn't really work, but DC/Marvel/whatever company would just end up canning them after the fourth issue.

An answer to this could be creating gay supporting characters, however, even that is met with backlash. Like, you can't tell me there isn't a thread on Sup Forums slamming a comic anytime a gay, black, etc. side character is introduced, even if that side character only lasts that one issue (which, ironically, is met with "If the character isn't even important, then why make them gay/black/etc?"). Personally I'd rather DC Comics install me as a lead writer and give Bart Allen a boyfriend, because he's a QT3.14 and deserves to be with another QT boi.

>it's be just bros helping bros out giving each other 'relief''. it wasn't 'gay'.
Yes it was. There was stigma "Gay", as in someone identifying themselves as men only having sexual relations with other men didn't happen. Male aristocrats in Ancient Greece were all still expected to marry and have children, even if people didn't really care for youthful dalliances with other men. Someone like Plato (ironically because Catholicism rendered 'platonic' relationships as being without sex when for Plato it was never the case), who never married and only had relations with men was both rare and frowned upon. Also, it was considered totally gay in antiquity if you were done up the ass because penetration is for women. Homosexuality may have been encouraged in Sparta, but the Athenians thought it was really weird and creepy how gay they were.

This however, change orientation. Because homosexual activity was accepted in antiquity doesn't mean that the people back then were all gay or bisexual. (And the reverse is true for when it wasn't accepted.) Two men who aren't gay won't willingly fuck each other (at least not without immediate regret anyways). So unless you lived in Sparta (because Sparta), this would never happen.

I'm okay with characters being gay 'on the side'. but not with the main romance thread. no, never. I'm not that nice. my cynical pragmatist side that talks in my head tells I'm only okay with gay marriage and openly gay people is that with them fucking each other, the 'gay gene' will eventually be breeded out, if it exists.

Part of the social function of gays is for the presence to increase the sexual activity of those around them. Straight people who have gay friends have more sex.

Also you are neither a cynic nor a pragmatist. You're just an idiot.

>Part of the social function of gays is for the presence to increase the sexual activity of those around them. Straight people who have gay friends have more sex.
W-what.

Get a gay wingman. Gays are great wingmen. It's great.

That's stupid, traits that help the surrounding organisms procreate but not to organism itself can never evolve.
The less likely your descendent are to become gay the wider your genes will spread.
