Libertarian Trump supporters

How do you deal with the fact that Trump will end up being yet another big government republican?

For me I just accept the road we are heading down, and at least the republicans will lead us there slower than the dems. Thats it.

I am unironically a Pro-NATO, Pro-Big Military Libertarian (National Defence is one real role of the government that they should be doing).

If Trump will fix it so that more than 30% of our military os combat ready and he makes our partners pay their agreed to share (2% GDP), I'm okay with that.

I don't know much about NATO, but my opinion on national defense has changed greatly over the years.

I agree the military is basically the main thing the government should be concerned about, but in my younger years I thought we were spending too much, too far reaching etc. Now that I actually think about it, we are literally in the best possible position, solely because of how spread out our military is. I mean China who most people consider our biggest upcoming thread, would stand no chance against us, even excluding our allies. Simply because of how far reaching our presence is militarily.

The problem with our military is that nearly everything, save our strategic bombers, has no funding for upkeep. Most MRAPs, F-18s, tanks, LIFV et al are in such poor condition that they are combat ineffective.

The Marines are taking 30+ year old airframes out of storage to augment their Hornet fleets as they cannot get spares to keep the current squadrons operational.

33% combat ready is terrible.

I was more thinking about our overseas territories and bases and stuff. I think in a wartime we could crank out those weapons and vehicles like no bodies business.

i voted for carly and carson so i'm not going to be suprised at the bullshit coming from anyone else. but at least trump is not a career politician or dynasty

Let's correct the record right now. What part of a wall or a Muslim ban is Libertarian? If you really want liberty vote Hillary 2016.

>i voted for carly and carson

wat

ebin.

Not like WWII, no. Wartime Factory Conversion is not as capable as it was even 5 years ago.

To retool, say Ford Flat Rock or the River Rouge Complex, during the Cold War it was in War Plans to do so in under a month with tooling kept in bomb shelters but Clinton killed that requirement.

Recent studies from RAND say we couldn't vamp up to wartime production in under a year now (in the case of a European ground war).

Yeah, I had WWII in my mind, because I remember reading that we ramped up from basically nothing to the top of the world in just months.

So that is not possible these days? Why not? Why couldnt we just put in an order for Boeing and lockheed to make us fighter planes nonstop, or ford etc to produce us tanks or whatnot?

Boeing and Lockheed would be the easiest to ramp up production as they have the facilities already in place. The problem is they would need to train second and third shifts to build aircraft 24/7, the military would need to provide ferry pilots which would require more training and suppliers of everything from wire to Plexiglas would need to train and hire new people. That would be a 3 to 6 month job if they rushed.

Retooling a Ford plant for MRAPs or even getting Lima Tank to war footing will take nearly a year now due to training and supply. There's simply not enough inventory of parts sitting around to start building right away,

>libertarian US government

A lib govt would be funded like every other - by taxpaying Americans. Invading hordes of millions of foreign welfare predators feature, by my calculation, ZERO of those - and historically the rest of us take a dim view of taxation without representation.

Factories and manufacturing these days is very different. Everything, especially the machines are very specialized and narrowly focused. Most of it would be completely useless for any other purposes than the one exact task it was made to do. We've become much more efficient/and increases consistency, but sacrificed flexibility (which isn't really necessary when you keep building the same exact car).

I am a libertarian. We can hope to convince educated, intelligent whites of the virtues of liberty above statism. We have no hope of doing so to the hordes of low-IQ welfare-dependant Peronists and Chavistas coming here from South America and breeding children who will, statistically speaking, inherit those delusions.

In wartime, I think it's safe to say everything is moved up way early. If it's 3 months to train someone today, its 1 or 2 months now.

Thats not that long. Granted when we got attacked in pearl harbor there werent any accompanying attacks, so the buildup time wasnt so important

I'm a national libertarian with the first opportunity to vote for a nationalist since Kennedy. Of course I'm going to vote Trump.

There is nothing Trump has said that leads me to think he will shrink the government. He has no special interests but only Americas. Perhaps he will have a task force to gut our bloated government, common core schools and banks.
> The wall
> TrumpCare
> More military spending
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

At this point it doesn't matter, the country has gone so far Trump is an extreme counter to an extreme problem.

Yeah, no.
Most of the factories that would be converted to military use are in China and Mexico.

Libertarians aren't against putting up a fence to keep unwanted people out of your yard. Libertarians believe in property lines.

That's exactly the problem. Cutting spending to things doesn't sound sexy to your average voter . Building a wall does. With our current welfare state I don't think most libertarians would have a problem with the wall. But trump hasn't said anything about actually reducing our government spending or deficit

Yeah that's exactly what I'm talking about. other than a few issues, trump seems like just another republican candidate.

The federal government is already bloated and spends way too much, but no one on the "small government" side ever tries to shrink it.

This is why I think we will end up like every western european state in our lifetimes. It's just a matter of time. We could have republican presidents from now until 2050 and we'd still end up in the same spot.

who do you think we should bomb next?

Russia. Maybe Moldova.

yeah moldova definitely has it out for us.

Then we nuke Turkey. They need to be kicked from NATO anyway.

Fuck I hope he changes the government structure.

We need to remove the weaknesses of this country.

> Facist National Socialist here

at least Turkey has refugee camps. Those fucking yurofags actually try to get these people intermingled with their everyday people.

Turkey is a shit country, but the west should deal with the migrants like turkey does.

Put them in camps away from society.

For some reason that I cannot fathom, Europe has a strange aversion to camps.

There's an incredibly delay when it comes to them actually building things, orders are made years out sometimes.

military spending is a scam, nothing more than public works projects for STEM autists

The spending needs reform. More focus on war making abilities and less on corporate welfare projects like the F-35 and Seawolf.

I voted Gary Johnson 2012, and I would vote for him again if Ted Cruz got the nomination.

Trump is just too good to pass up; he legitimately stands a chance of completely destroying the Republican party or fundamentally radicalizing it if he loses.

I want to see what happens if Trump loses; the right angry, armed to the teeth, and completely disbelieving in their government being in their own common interests. I want to see what happens if Trump wins; the left being completely fucking ineffectual and turning on themselves in a localized civil war, the fact that they've been selling their own rights and prosperity coming to bite them in their ass if they even wanted to work against the government.

That is where your Fuck political correctness comes in. Western Euorpe seems so pussified that even the mention of camp causes them to we their panties.

If you are actually a refugee. Living in a camp should be a godsend to you. Who cares what the media says

I completely agree with you. Although I haven't thought about the ramifications of trump losing as much as you have. The republican party has been shit for years. They needed a major rehall regardless of who was the candidate.

Romney
McCain
Bush Jr
Dole

Were all awful candidates.
