Cartoon characters with actual Autism

Are there any others besides ed

...

Does Sup Forums not know what autsim is? Autsim causes someone to be sociallly inept. Ed has no problem interacting with others and is easily the most outgoing of all the eds.

This is right though.

Is it autism for Tina or just being a weird awkward teenager?

Also Ed has to be somewhere on the Autism spectrum. He is socially inept, he brings up his obsession with horror, scifi and buttered-toast when its not-relevent, and he is doesn't deal well with change.

Socially inept doesn't always mean doesn't want to socialize. I knew at least one aspie who was outgoing even if he never knew what he should be talking about.

Autism takes many different forms, that's why it's a spectrum disorder.

>Is it autism for Tina
It's cannon. They even mentioned it in the first episode
>you are not even the good kind of autistic

>Characters with Actual Autism
>Implying Ed has Autism.

Ed isn't autistic, he's retarded. If you think these things are synonymous, you spend too much time on Sup Forums.

Pic related has the tism

Literally this I was honestly waiting on an user to correct OP

The line is, "You're the worst kind of autistic." Honestly, I'd argue that you could make a case for any of Linda's kids being at least a little on the spectrum in a good way.

Ed's not autistic, he's just retarded.

So one can be retarded without being autistic, clearly.

Can one be autistic without being retarded though?

Bob says she is not autistic in the first episode.

Everyone who's autistic is retarded but not everyone who's retarded is autistic.

One of those squares and rectangles deals.

That's said by Loiuse, who is in no way a reliable source for anything. It's also immediately countered by Bob saying that Tina is not autistic.

>a parent not willing to admit his child is abnormal
impossible!

Asspies aren't retarded

By the literal definition of the word, they're retarded. Their social skills are less advanced than usual for their age.

Because Louise is a far more reliable source than the only sane member of the family.

>the only sane member of the family
except when it comes to kitchen knives
or camping
or his rivalry with the Italian restaurant across the street
Bob is down to earth and practical
that doesn't make his a clinical psychologist

ohh yes they are. Maybe they are less retarded compared to other autists, but they are retarded.

This guy.

Always thought Ed was based of Lennie from of mice and men.

What ed has is more akin to asperger syndrome right?

...

None of that magically makes his wife right. Was Tina diagnosed?

Idiocy isn't autism.

And by the definition of it in use here, they're not.
If we're going by the "literal definition of the word," then a person who has a completely neurotypical brain and an IQ of 160 can be "retarded" if they're less speedy of a runner than most. Stephen Hawking is "retarded" because tasks like communication and movement take him longer. We don't just mean "slow" by "retarded," though.

You're equating a developmental disorder with an intellectual disability, and you're trying to substitute the dictionary definition of a word for the clinical definition of it.

Mental retardation specifically refers to low-IQ individuals, autistic or not. Granted, the two aren't mutually exclusive. The screaming manchild who smears shit on the wall, can't communicate, has no concept of logic, and watches Sesame Street obsessively at 25, but only when his mom puts it on for him, is probably both autistic and retarded. The autistic professor who hunches over his computer all day and obsesses over math isn't retarded, and neither is the awkward sperg who's entirely capable of an average degree of higher thought.

If Tina's autistic, which I'm not sure she is, then she's at least not retarded in that her IQ is probably well-above 70.

See above.

Louise isn't his wife.
