Peanuts movie

What did Sup Forums think of this?

Personally I felt it dragged on for too long (could have been 1 hour), the Meghan Trainor song was garbage and the Snoopy / Red Baron scenes detracted too much from Charlie Brown's story. But those last few minutes of the movie, I was shedding manly tears.

Too much slapstick and the wrong kind of mood. I would love to see a children's movie with all the bleak philosophical aspects of the strip. Imagine a kids movie with characters saying "what's the difference between being really sad and being depressed?" And Peppermint Patty staying up late for her dad to come home, making her lose sleep and screwing her up for school. Also, where was the religious talk?

Personally, I felt the movie was far more sentimental and whimsical than anything Schulz actually did with Peanuts, less cynical and somber and really Snoopy being so loyal also felt kinda weird since the rest of the Peanuts shows/strips/etc portrayed him as more unintentionally selfish...
And yet it's still good?

As someone who watched all the Peanuts specials growing up, and the four 'cinematic' movies, tPM felt like a book end for Charlie Brown as a character. He didn't get the girl of his dreams, he kept failing but he was acknowledged to be a good person. After all of the cartoons, comics, etc. it was like the Universe finally went "Hey, you're alright," and that's a nice way to end Schulz's legacy with that kind of ending, even if it was more...fantastical than what he himself did with Peanuts.

The peanuts are fucking wholesome trash. I want to personally murder and slaughter every retarded child who saw this disgusting film and gave it money.

Half the songs could have been NOT used, but they do not kill the movie.

...

Summer sequel when?

Old Peanuts is too meanspirited to keep the G rating.

I'll agree that slapstick was too much though, Lucy being hit with the typewriter made me cringe.

Also I'm always glad for further confirmation that nuPeanuts are fellow VIoletfags

I really enjoyed it and was disappointed in myself for not seeing it when in theaters.

I blame crappy trailer that had me worried it would use modern music.

But it did use modern music.

Violet's legs look so uncanny.

They're entirely detatched from her body. Her right leg even sticks out from behind her if you look closely. It's even wierder considering she's usually one of the most grounded characters. The creepy smile and stare doesn't help either.

Personally I'm upset they didn't use this one instead

So is Lucy supposed to be Jewish?

I loved it a lot. I think it was a good idea they kept the depressing stuff from the comics out of the movie, it wouldn't have ended well.

The "depressing stuff" is overhyped. Some kid being sad that the grill of his choice won't bang him is only depressing if you're a creepy nice guy.

I stuck that "dream big" poster on the wall at my old workplace. Looking at it every day helped me to finally resign.

I really liked the movie. I took my mum and we spent a lot of the time nudging each other and grinning when we recognised moments from the strips.

Beautiful animation

The theory I've always leaned toward is we're not supposed to admire Charlie Brown because he never gives up, he's supposed to be pathetic because he will not stop doing something even if it's not working.

Obvious example is his team always wins when he's not pitching. Why doesn't he stop pitching? Because he's a stubborn jackass who will not give up on a failed policy.

Nobody's perfect, but at least Chuck cares about other people

That's what I get

Chuck's not a bad guy at all, but he's a realistic portrayal of a neurotic loser, meaning he's hard to live with and his friends can't put up with his shit.

He's also realistic in that he thinks his life is a lot worse than it really is. He thinks he doesn't have any friends but he actually has quite a few. He thinks nobody loves him and he never notices that Peppermint Patty has a crush on him. Etc

>Chuck cares about other people
I have never seen any evidence for this

He did in the movie

Peppermint Patty *and* Marcie have crushes on him.

I guess, but only about Sally that one time.

We all know how that'll turn out with the remorsless horndog that is Charlie Brown

Little redhead girl in bikini?

People who are bitching about it not being depressing enough should go watch the original movie. We don't need another repeat.
Also, anyone who actually reads the comics knows it's not just about people shitting on Charlie Brown.
In my opinion it was pretty perfect. Not all the background characters are cartoonishly mean,
Snoopy becoming a loyal dog was a nice breath of fresh air and something new.
Peppermint Patty had the best voice actress and part, and is probably my favorite.
In my opinion it was near perfect but too short, the Red Baron scenes were fucking annoying.

For now, there is only hope

She WOULD look cute.
What kind would she wear?

Holy shit. It's like this weird fusion of 2D, 3D and stop-motion. I don't know what I'm seeing, but it looks great.

She'd have to keep to he themeing obviously. I assume she's meant to resemble a flower so she'd have those on it. It would be a two peice, but definately a modest one.

You can't get away with only having a one hour movie. Even if it is for the better, people need to distract thier kids for longer

>Shroeder realizes he is straight

It needed to be 2D, it really did.

Violet isn't a fair straight-test

Not even disney can make 2D profitable

Just watch A Boy Named Charlie Brown instead
