To me, americans seem INCREDIBLY gregarious and friendly. They always want to stop and have a chat with you, and will gladly tell you about their life even though you are a total stranger.
Expats will always say the same thing - british people are harder to get to know, but once you do get to know them they tend to be very good friends.
