Who is the best super man that isn't actually Superman...

Who is the best super man that isn't actually Superman? Who's your favorite Superman archetype (Superman dummy if you will)? The ones in pic related are:

>Bizarro
>Ultraman
>Eradicator
>Blue Marvel
>The Sentry
>Hyperion
>Omni-Man
>Supreme
>Mr Majestic
>Apollo
>The Homelander
>Samaritan
>The Plutonian

But there's more out there, who is your favorite? (mine is The Plutonian) Do you prefer him more than the real Superman? What is about Supes' universality that makes him such a archetypal character?

That one with the mustache

Captain motherfucking Marvel.

>But there's more out there

Omni-Man.

The marvel side is missing mutant superman, but then he was a bland OC who came from Wood's run so it makes sense that no one remembers him.

KALLARK

Why Isn't Thor included.?

Because every one of those were created as an extention of or answer to Superman.
The very idea of Thor predates Superman, though he may have been made a Marvel character to have an answer to him.

because superman would kick the everloving shit out of thor any day of the fucking week, that includes Thor's day

Steel

>Omni-Man

I liked the guy but he went absolutely bananas for a time so no

did he start calling himself omniwoman?

Irredeemable is so fucking good

Is Incorruptable worth a read as well?

Plutonian has the most interesting backstory and best powers. Nolan has better fights though.

ehhhh. I guess.

Yes, it is better.

This is easy.
Prime...cos he's got the most muscles.
God he was so fucking 90s

TAS & MOS/BVS are my favorite incarnations of Superman himself.

Plutonian is interesting & well written but is too pure fucking evil for me to say I like or enjoy him. (I had to take a break from reading Irredeemable at issue 16 as it was depressing the fuck out of me)

So at this point I will say JMS & Hickman's Hyperions are my favorite homages. And Blue Marvel is also pretty cool.

Haven't read any of him but Mr. Majestic caught my eye.

Alan Moore's Supreme is the only correct answer.

Isn't Mjolnir magic?

This should be something X-Men should pick up on more.

the power puff girls

>Who's your favorite
Zibarro. I love this pretentious clown.

So like, are the Powerpuff girls strength equaled to all 3 of them=superman level or do they each have superman level power?

Bruce Willis in Unbreakable

They each have roughly Superman level power.

Statesman

Even after all these years, it still hurts.

superwoman from ultramans world
elevated louis
elevated luthor

>The High
Heh
Wait, what's the name of the Gorilla comics one?

The one true answer

while I wouldn't call him my favorite I liked virtue/ moral man and his story during that one Spiderman arc.

Why put Omni-man and not Invincible?

Hyperion, but specifically the King Hyperion from Exiles.

...

>X-men writers creating their op oc do not steal characters
What a shocker!

> sprays acid from his genitals

for what purpose.

DC is that you?

Goku

Does Mexican Superman still count as Superman?

Damn that costume looks like shit

Captain Marvel/Shazam. He's better at being Superman than Superman himself.

Saitama

Colossus

Thor

Marvel's Thor feels more like Superman, just with a Norse bent.

What about Nate Greh, aka Xman?

Invincible is more like Superboy. I sometimes think of him as an amalgamation of Jonathan and Connor Kent, with his father being inspired by the Superman from "Whatever happened to the Man of Tomorrow?"

Of course, there are other differences, but Invincible feels more like a continuayion to the Superman mythos

...

Wheres Dr. Manhattan

I know he is based off the Atom, but they have also called him Superman

this

Rahxephon

Does Miracleman count?

Metaman

Yeah but it doesn't matter if the guy swinging it is a bitch

>Beat the shit out of the hulk like it was nothing.

Based Zoran

Duh

I like Eradicator.

Plutonian is definitely my favorite out of those

Eiko Magami

This thread needs more Superman pastiches

>Bizarro
>Ultraman

These two and Ultiman.

The guy from Edison Rex is missing.

What defines a character as a Superman pastiche?

Last son of a doomed planet is popular, and emphasis on Truth, Justice, and the American Way is another.
Or just a flying brick with a spitcurl.

That doesn't fit the Sentry. Or Saitama. Or Captain Marvel Jr.

Or even Homelander, whose actually a clone

HAH!

John Carter
He basically inspired super man's original move set.

>homage to homage

He's from Invincible.
SPOILERS
He wasn't the last survivor of !Krypton, but a scout sent by !Krypton to check Eath's defenses. So at some point he just goes on a rampage and kills the entire !Justice League prior to the invasion.

Nah, I feel it kinda strays away from it's premise too far eventually and at times comes off as being dark and edgy just for the sake of it. The ending's goat though and it's worth reading just for that.
This. Incorruptible is a lot better.

>gods and monsters series has been canceled

I hope you grow tastebuds inside your rectum

Wildstorm > Maximum Man.

That's a Captain Marvel/Billy Batson pastiche. I guess an argument could be made that to the extent that any Captain Marvel pastiche is ALSO a Superman pastiche it's fair, but it feels to me like a second-generation pastiche kind of falls into a different category, thematically.

I like the Samaritan.

I foyu're adding Omni-Man you might as well add Immortal. Immortal is similar to Omni-Man, althought he's an Earth native

significantly weaker though

>black terror
I thought he was a batman expy
