Why did they have to portray scientests as people with weird personalities in Jurasic park?

Why did they have to portray scientests as people with weird personalities in Jurasic park?

They were using cutting edge/rejected scientists to work on highly illegal or ethically questionable projects. Ian Malcom or w/e is sort of a pop scientist in the movie, think like a Dr. Phil kind of guy. His genius in the adventure is recognizing at the onset how fractals in the construction of the park have made its demise inevitable.

Possibly my favorite movie quote belongs to him
"God creates dinosaurs
God destroys dinosaurs
God creates man
Man destroys God
Man creates dinosaurs
....................."
>Implying

he was like a NDT of the day, minus the memes

Because the alternative is generic ex-Marines.

That's kind of Spielberg's thing.

What movie os this?

Jaws

True.

I wish spielberg was still making these movies.

>woman inherits the earth
>*girl watching squeals*
erry time

Speaking as an ex scientist with a great many people I know being scientists most have weird personalities.

What's this expression trying to convey?

Like I feel the scientest characters in Jurasic park are either mild or borderline Aspergers types.

Like when the kid says to alan grant "that doesn't look so scary more like a 6ft turkey" he kind of spergs out about his work in a kind of autistic way even though it was just a kid being dumb...

It's so true. Why can't we have characters like Malcolm anymore? Instead we get Chad after Chad rammed down our throats.

Malcom was not a normal guy.

>spend months digging through some wasteland in Montana
>tired and exhausted but the job needs to be done
>finally come across remains, all of the hard work has paid off
>some chubby little shithead openly trivializes your career
>put him in his place

Makes sense to me.

I know scientists that sperg out exactly like that with wild exaggeration and threats of doom. I had a colleague flip out on some tourists in Tahoe because they incorrectly identified a cinder cone as a meteor strike. Went into some lurid description of the long valley caldera, talking about how them and their families would be dead. It was weird but he's an excellent mineralogist so he gets a pass

>t. geologist

>Hurry the fuck up you twats the bass is getting cold.

>Malcom
>Not a chad

Like on the helicopter
Dr mlcolm goes

> You guys dig up dinosaurs
Alan grant goes
> We try to

Then Malcolm laughs in a spergy kind of way

Grant looks at him funny

Hammond goes
>You will have to get used to Dr Malcolm

Thanks for that.

>tfw no Dr. Malcolm tv series

If you re watch the movie, the people around him especially Dr Satteler are all thinking

>Here we go Dr Alan Grant is going to sperg out again.

Then adterwards she is like
>if you wanted to scare him you could of just pulled a gun on him.

>My plan to bankrupt InGen and get a sweet payout for leaving is coming along perfectly

who is they?
jurassic park was written by one man
his name was michael crichton
kill yourself

What were they like in the book?

Why so angry? Are you saying Spielberg doesn't make his smart characters eccentric?

Speilberg and company.

no problemo buddy

But he wasn't a scientist he was a mathematician.

Who was more autistic, Grant or Malcolm, que dirais que?

Other eccentric things Dr Malcom does

Taps on the camera and talks to it
>Hey is there going to be dinosaurs

When grant and sateller leave the car
>Here I am talking to myself, that was unpredictable like chaos theory

they didn't create the characters
spielberg takes all the credit for a masterpiece created by someone else
scientists are basically the same. the little girl was actually useless, so they gave some of the boys stuff to her.
hammond gets eaten by compys and it is hilarious

He studied Kaos theory.

It was hammond that called him a glorified mathematician.

no, Grant likes kids in the books. Malcolm is more depressing and less funny from what I remember. Another piece of the puzzle that adds to Malcolm's autism theory is his ability to break the fourth wall - "impact tremors that's what that is, I'm fairly alarmed here", "and now I'm sat right here talking to myself, that's chaos theory".

ok malcolm being more depressing and less funny is basically the same.
grant doesn't have a weird personality in either the book or movie.

He also fidgets with his watch with autistic looking body language.

>think like a Dr. Phil kind of guy.
It would be more like black science man of Michiu Bukakke, but with math.
Malcolm wrote a chaos-theory-for-plebs type book and was having his 15 minutes.

>grant doesn't have a weird personality in either the book or movie.
He kind of does. He's super determined, ellie remembers a time he walked miles out of the badlands after be broke his leg or ankle. He's also based on Dr. Robert Bakker in the book, complete with pony tail and hobo beard.
In the movie they reference this when Tim compares grant's book to the one by "this guy named bakker."

>super determined
ok

He definitely does have a weird personality in the movie.

I don't know how you don't realise that Grant is a bit different.

Another example of grant being autistic

>malcolm: Are the kids okay?

>Grant: Why wouldn't they be?

>Malcom: Kids get scared

>Grant: I'm not scared

>Malcom: I didn't say you were

>my feet hurt
>I wish I was at home eating chili and sea bass

I seem to remember the book being amazing. Crichton was based.
