Legend of Korra didn't have modern technology you don't see Asami driving a gas guzzling SUV, drinking pumpkin latte, and suckling on a cubar cigar while she posts Instagram selfies

People are more upset about writers lazily ripping off memes, a lot of which originated on 18+ websites. Also i'd argue that shows that focused on pop culture from those decades were also shitty. They always come across like they're written by middle aged people trying to act hip or whatever.

Its strange that you posted an EE&E image because I can't think of a single episode that had forced pandering or tried to be cool unless it was ironic

>they always come across like they're written by middle aged people trying to act hip or whatever

Once you realize that 12 year olds don't create pop culture, they only consume pop culture made by 20-44 year old adults.

>memes
>pop culture
>culture

Well i'm out.

you know there's a difference and you know what that difference is, quit being difficult

I think the problem is because 2010's pop culture is basically a huge load of shit with outdated/normies internet memes.

with also annoying progressism stuff.

Because 2010's culture fucking blows. Same for 2000's culture.

Ahnold and Madonna references and the like aged like milk. I was tired of seeing them in cartoons before I even knew what they were referencing.

HOLLY SHIT. YOU TAKE ANY CHANCE TO POST YOUR SHITTY FETISH DOESN'T YOU?

Name a few examples about the 90's-00's pop culture and technology in EEnE,except for the "cool guy" thing of Kevin

>10's cartoons have 00's and even '90s pop culture
fixed

I'm not sure I can really say pop culture references were ever fine. Unless it's a reference to something timeless and/or easily recognizable.

2000's culture have actually some good shitty stuff for laughing.

at least before 2008, the things started to be fucked up during 2006-2007.

I remember that shitty wave of reality TV, a good decade for WWE, the good old times when everyones find something gross, gore and edgy funny without hipster tendencies, the last years without online everywhere, and some other stuff like that... it's shit but actually tolerable shit, except since 2008.... that year changed everything.

I think you're nostalgiaing

But all of this is true, yeah this is nostalgia, but that decade was not that bad, things were still more simple, especially on the early years.

i don't know, since 2010 some people started to talk shit about everything on this decade, playing the annoying hipsters about things from different times.

the most popular exemple is now talking shit about everything related to newgrounds tier humor on shows, movies,etc.. or "old fashioned autism" about vidya franchises.

again, it was ironic and jimmy is even shocked at how badly dressed Ed was.

Gunball feels partially like it's set in the 80s with the fashion, computers, cars, building decor, ect

There are examples of all of those that are terrible though.

Like this fucking shit. The new PPG is basically Yo Yogi.

>with also annoying progressivism stuff

Fuck. You. Obama. Just. Fuck. You.

i agree normie is a pretty good internet meme but i don't think "outdated" is?

The problem isn't when a show has modern pop culture and technology, it is when its entirely reliant on said pop culture and technology. I don't mind references and techshit in shows to support their existence in their supposed time period, its when the jokes are literally just "POP CULTURE HA" is when it turns itself to shit. It was bad then and it is bad now.

Basically, you're exaggerating.

I'd personally say it has at least something to do with the fact that popular culture in the 2010's is progressing far more rapidly than in any decade before it.

Now that the internet is widespread, whatever is "in" is changing so rapidly as to be incredibly difficult to represent in cartoons or whatever without appearing immediately dated and forced.

This.

Zootipia is a cartoon that take place in the 10's with they have pop culture and technology form today.

Yet Sup Forums fucking loves it?

Meme's aren't pop culture.

A Meme reference made today is gonna feel completely archaic before even 1 year passes
