Hey, Sup Forums, let's discuss The Batman cartoon.
What did you like/dislike about it? What are your thoughts on the artstyle? Opinions on the different take on various characters especially villains like Penguin and Catwoman?
Personally I loved season 1 and any other season that didn't have Robin. Batgirl was tolerable, but that's when the tone started to lighten and it got a little campy. Thoughts?
Here's the Joker, voiced by Kevin Michael Richardson. Very different from main universe.
Since the series is essentially "Jackie Chan Adventures: Batman Edition," they pretty much turned a most of the rogues gallery into melee fighters, including this version of Joker. Sort of adopted the posture of a monkey in a way.
Oliver Morales
Penguin, voiced by Tom Kenny.
Also unique. He had his own personal Japanese bodyguards known as the Kabuki Twins, and he apparently became a kung-fu master or some shit because he took a vacation to the oriental, or whatever he said.
Ehh, it was a little weird for me.
Henry Cooper
It was shit.
Adam Rivera
It was very polarizing for sure. A lot of the character designs turned off a lot of people.
Camden Johnson
I liked this a lot until I saw the original animated series.
Like going from Kraft Mac&Cheese to a nice steak
Anthony Price
i liked it. the fight choreography was pretty good for the time, it had a great take on Clayface, and their Joker really hit that "he might shoot you or hit you with a pie" idea super well. plus him being able to kung fu fight the Batman off gave a good reason for people to want to work with a creepy terrorist weirdo. however the score is total garbage.
Jeremiah Gray
>season 4 finale >Bruce identifies J'onn as Martian be the fact that he flinched at fire >doesn't even believe in aliens at that point, still has researched every story and rumor about them to the point where he can do this He started out barely competent and eventually grew into borderline Batgod in a way that was tempered with the perfect amount of camp. I love it.
Wyatt White
>justice league builds watchtower >batman takes over watchtower systems because he's been monitoring since the beginning
how
Charles Thomas
A lot of interesting designs but I cant help but think Mister Freeze went a step back with such a boring characterization. Also I think the series suffers from not having Two Face or Scarecrow.
Ryan Ortiz
Don't shit-talk Kraft Mac&Cheese.
Julian Jenkins
Oh shit you're right. Didn't even have those two characters wow. Wonder why they went with campy lesser known villains instead.
Robert Powell
>Randomly see episode airing >it starts with Nightwing doing justice stuff >Hey, never knew that Nightwing was in it >It's just Robin playing a video game about some Nightwing >turn off TV
Isaiah Davis
It was great. I actually preferred it to the Animated Series, but it's been a while since I've seen either. I especially liked how useful the cape was though.
Blake Wilson
Catwoman, voiced by Gina Gershon.
So, I actually liked her character for a couple of reasons. One, Gina's Catwoman voice is hot as fuck. Two, I actually liked her costume and the fact that the fast-paced action seemed to suit her fighting style.
Unfortunately, since it was a kids show, they could never legitimately explore a romance between her and Bruce, so it was kept pretty one-sided for Catwoman.
Loved her characterization though.
Robert Robinson
>since it was a kids show, they could never legitimately explore a romance between her and Bruce, so it was kept pretty one-sided for Catwoman
I personally don't enjoy the romance between Batman and Catwoman. I would prefer him not to have anyone and fully dedicate himself to justice. But that's just me.
Bentley Hernandez
>rich billionaire vigilante who owns satellites >implying he wouldn't notice someone building a space station >implying he wouldn't be keeping an eye on it
Gavin Richardson
That's an interesting viewpoint. I actually like the romance involved with Batman and Catwoman mostly because it's fun and mysterious and all that.
Probably could've made him little more receptive instead of just treating her like an annoyance 100% of the time.
Liam Rodriguez
They weree embargoed because of the Nolan movies.
Landon Gonzalez
hnnngh this catwoman version
Brody Gray
That was the second time Nightwing was in it. It was the videogame character he made there, but in the future episode it showed him as Nightwing and Babs as Oracle.
Grayson Butler
Shit really? Damn would've been interesting to see Scarecrow in this version
Wyatt Adams
The episode "Strange New World" was supposed to have him as the villain. Personally I think it was better with Strange, it would have made the twist too obvious if they had used Scarecrow.
That episode was great. There were a lot of high quality episodes. I liked DAVE, the Superman/Batman 2 parter, Vertigo, Fire and Ice, the one where he upgraded the batmobile, and a bunch of other episodes. I loved it when he used gadgets and the Batwave. There were some genius moments in this show.
Adrian Morgan
Issue with Freeze is that if they'd used his BTAS backstory, it would've been"BTAS again but worse". They probably should'nt have used him at all, but that was a great design.
Cooper Clark
The kung fu was weird, but I liked that he had more of personal vendetta against Alfred and Bruce Wayne than he did The Batman.
Elijah Price
I agree. Also, I liked Ellen Yin in this series, to be honest. It's too bad she pretty much dropped off the face of the earth once Batgirl entered the fray.
Ryan Rodriguez
I thought it was great. Really showed how far Batman has gotten, as well as his strategic mind and use of surroundings. Plus it just goes to show that everyone attacking at the same time isn't always a good idea.
Cooper Sullivan
you know that look grew on me as I kept watching more of her
also gina should really consider voicing catwoman in the future because she's definitely got the heavy flirtatious nature down desu
Jaxon Martin
I think it was just silly because Robin single-handedly took down some folks like Bane who pretty much needed an entire bat mechsuit to beat in season 1.
Gabriel Jones
Yeah, but it's kind of like in video games where an early boss that you've fought before comes back as a minor enemy. It's not for everyone, I guess.
Samuel Sanchez
Good point. I'm probably reading too much into it anyway kek
Charles Lee
I agree. In "The Cat and the Bat" she was SUPER mischievous and I totally dug that characterization desu

Grayson Diaz
I really like this costume. Useful, yet not degenerate like the usual ones. Wish they'd use it or a similar version more often.
Austin Gomez
keep it up pls
John Hill
You know, I gotta agree with you on this one. I think the way her goggles look is my favorite part.
I literally can't remember anything about The Batman's version of Catwoman, both cause they didn't use her very often(like maybe 3 or 4 times) and cause she just never really did anything interesting
both are pretty great, if for slightly different reasons
best version of Firefly(love that they used this design and gave him a major role in LEGO Batman 3)
Leo Cook
Shame they ruined Firefly and turned him into Phosphorus. .
Chase Jenkins
...
Leo Johnson
I thought the whole Phosphorus thing was kinda neat, if mostly cause they referenced something as obscure as Dr Phosphorus in the first place(had an idea for a future episode where his girlfriend would take up the Firefly mantle in an attempt to steal stuff in an attempt to fund a cure for him)
Jace Hughes
The whole Ragdoll fight was just so dope. Honestly, it's one of my favorite batman scenes in any media. This show wasn't great overall, but it had a few great moments.
