jesus fucking christ, these make me want to stab somebody

...

Is Reservoir Dogs about playing pool?

...

...

...

...

I don't mind this one too much although I don't like that it's not even remotely film relevant

...

...

>white + pink
This poster is offensively bad

>cold tap on the left

...

never forget

>those colors

Please stop.

...

...

...

...

...

...

Is this for that film about McDonald's?

...

Its a fucking tragedy that this is actually the best one in the thread

These ones piss me off the most

...

Where can I see this?

God this is such a stupid fucking poster.

>Film is called Bladerunner
>Better have a guy literally running along a knife

Jesus. The title refers to a smuggler of medical goods.

Jesus you faggots are insufferable.

Dumping classic, vintage, and international posters

Jurassic Park and Robocop are good for Criterion covers, knowing that you've seen the movie before, and of the minimal ones shown here they have the best use of color and type.

...

...

...

...

That defeats the entire purpose of a cover though, its to sell it to people who havent seen it

If someone hasnt those covers make no sense

also minimalist covers are just a way to have interns design their packaging for free

...

Those aren't minimalist retardo

...

>completely missing the point of the thread

...

Holy shit these are fucking trash
Why so many colors and shapes?
What the fuck

Like the psycho posters should just be a showerhead graphic on a solid blue background, not that ugly shit

0/10 kys

...

I get it. That's why they work for people who have seen the movie or for elements which are easily recognizable because of popular culture, like on a Criterion cover. Even if you haven't seen Jurassic Park or Robocop, you probably get those covers. They wouldn't work well if those movies were new releases in theaters.

Also, I disagree with your assement of minimalist posters. From a design perspective, being able to convey an idea with the least amount of information is often paramount.

this is honestly cringy

...

...

...

Different guy, but the point of these is because this guy doesn't like minimalist posters.

I'm so glad the industry is willing to accept the work of the mentally disabled

Did he shit his pants?

It was as a shitty thread for fags anyway

awful.

this one is okay

No, being able to convery the tone and feel of the fucking movie is paramount

Minimalism is a meme and will not work with every movie

Sometimes, arguably most of the time, a more ornate and detailed approach will covey what the movie is about the best

Putting in the least amount of work possible is why so many movie posters suck now, just a stock photograph of the lead actor with the title over them

...

>being this fucking new

Thanks you ruined the cringey minimalism art student poster thread , again

...

Lets get this thread back on track

no fuck you

>No, being able to convery the tone and feel of the fucking movie is paramount
I was talking about design in general, but, again, you're missing the point. These aren't for people who have never heard of the films. They aren't selling an unknown. They're distilling an iconic portion of a known quantity, and that's why they work. I'd agree with you if these were for brand-new movies that nobody has seen yet.

>Putting in the least amount of work possible is why so many movie posters suck now, just a stock photograph of the lead actor with the title over them

Making good minimalist posters isn't easy. You're attacking two different things.

...

What are you even doing?

These look like shit. They aren't good because they're old. fuck you

...

>conflicting signals
You're welcome?

...

well since this thread has been hijacked:

Why is this the GOAT poster?

...

That's the most retarded movie poster I have ever seen.

It's like if the poster for Iron Man was a picture of an iron sculpture of a man, or if the poster for Blazing Saddles had a picture of a saddle on fire. Like.....yes, it is a literal representation of the title, but has nothing to do with the movie itself.

...

>heh that kinda looks like balls
>
>
>
>
>oh wait....

Not that user but
>Making good minimalist posters isn't easy.
>minimalist
>good

wew

>people legitimately wanted a thread where every single poster is just one motiff
that shit get's old fast desu

...

...

...

...

What about this poster for the upcoming sequel?

And you managed to be stupider by not understanding it's a joke

Check out this one I made for the new Spiderman movie

...

Is this also a joke?

I wondered what that dot in the corner was and then I realized I need to clean my screen

...

>ideas are best presented with a fog of conflicting and distracting visuals

Potentially.

...

...

>it's a joke
I don't think you know what that word means

You fucking faggot.

Movie posters are literally paintings on a wall. You can appreciate craft and art not just a single clever metaphor and that shit get's old really fast.

...

>I don't know how to communicate concisely and effectively

It's cool, user. Some people like Faulkner.

...

...

You have to go back.

...

I actually bought this one

I forgot things this ugly existed

Josh Brolin was in Goonies?
