You gotta play all the games.
I heard that's not cannon anymore not after they rebooted the franchise.
Geep Sim will always be my headcanon.
Died offscreen.
I just play Clint Eastwood it's their only good song.

This. Noodle destroyed it when it malfunctioned and tried to kill Murdoc.
Read RotO. After that, you need to listen to the Murdoc Pirate Radio interviews.
nigga this timeline is a mess, who is who nodways
That's what happens when you don't plan an ending for any of your goddamn stories.
Anyone who ever took the "storyline" seriously is a fool. It's just there to be entertaining, and it's usually half-baked ideas anyway. This is coming from someone who owns and enjoys their copy of Rise of the Ogre.
What you should really be discussing is their interactive websites. Old Kong Studios, new Kong Studios, and Plastic Beach were so much fun to click around in. More media should incorporate things like that.
>being this plebeian
You don't need to know the details for any of the stories since it's mostly incomprehensible. The general idea behind each phase is sufficient.
KONG was better. Plastic Beach was a bit empty and it was hidden behind the game aspect of it.
>That fucking rubber bucket
Eh it's kind of vague honestly. I really appreciate that though, it adds a lot to the whole 'they exist in our reality' sort of thing they do. Like real people or a real band that's sort of fallen out of the spotlight until something sets it back on them.
Too bad nothing ever happened with that Evangilist character though, and we'll never know what the relationship the Boogieman has with Murdoc, but again I find it more interesting that way. Pisses me off that EMI 'couldn't fund' any more music videos for them that required animation. What a bunch of bullshit
Blame Damon for self-producing that one. And I imagine the CGI was expensive.
I don't think people really have a grasp at how much of a fucking failure Plastic Beach and by association, Phase 3, was all around.
They blew a sizable portion of their music video budget on Stylo, as closing down an entire road for filming proved to be far more expensive than they could've ever imagined. That's why Rhinestone Eyes never got past the storyboard phase. But hey, at least they got Bruce Willis to do the video for free!
The album itself wasn't a smash hit, which in turn led to a rather underwhelming turn out for their large world tour. Various members of the old Gorillaz-Unofficial forums recounted the fact that the vast majority of the US venues were stadiums that were barely halfway full. And the whole set up and shit was pricey as fuck too. Check out a live performance if you can on YouTube, he's got a full choir and orchestra as well as the band itself, the features, and that huge GORILLAZ sign. If I remember correctly, there was an interview with Damon where he says that overall, he only made around a dollar in profit from the tour.
And finally, the visuals. Plastic Beach came about from a multimedia project that Damon and Jamie were working on called Carousel. The project was ultimately scrapped, though certain aspects were meant to be carried over into their third album, mainly the carnival theme of the project, which can be seen heard in the Electric Shock demo and in some of the visuals. This also explains why Mos Def's character, Sun Moon Stars, aka the Boogeyman, was meant to run Sweepstakes, a strange carnival/arcade type thing. However, halfway through making the album, Damon changed his mind on what he wanted the album to be about, opting for an environmental message instead. This obviously didn't sit well with Jamie, as he was already so far into producing and developing ideas, which led to their falling out in 2012.
huh. Wonder what happened that led to them getting back together? Do they have a strong, centralized plan for the album and the ideas now, or is it just because the fans want them back?
I like the diversity Rhinestone Eyes had in comparison to the rest of Plastic Beach. Would I have loved to see it actually animated? Sure, but I can appreciate the storyboard too
My nigga
damon and jamie finished the Journey to the West thing that they were doing and now they're supposedly focusing their attention on recreating the band and putting out a new album, or something. I'm pretty sure they worked out their differences on the ip and wanna give it another shot.
CGI is cheaper than the 2D animation tho
It really was a disaster. I went to one of the MSG shows and it was amazing, but everything else really fell to shit. The story line wasn't always concrete but it became a total mess in Phase 3. I wonder if they'll make mention of it in Phase 4.
Second RotO or Comic when?
Things that this just make Gorillaz lore even more incoherent
Also, does that technically make Sweepstakes a villain song?
>opting for an environmental message instead
Is Damon one of "those" kind of people that are just not fun to be around?
Damon is a fun guy to be around, look at Bananaz and making of Plastic beach, he gets along with everyone. He is just inconsistent as fuck
He probably just thought that it would turn out better or more substantial than it would have with the carnival theme. Nothing about him really screams that he's one of "those" people, thankfully.
You forgot to mention that Carousel was self funded, EMI thought the idea was great, but wasnt willing to put money into the project which was a major factor in it failing.
>Also, does that technically make Sweepstakes a villain song?
yes

This will always be my favorite Gorillaz live session
That video is a tease.
>Boogieman has with Murdoc
Murdoc wanted his next album to be a smash hit so he made a deal with Boogie
In return. Boogie wanted the souls of innocent children but murdoc ran out on him before he could get his souls
So now boogie is essentially just mooching off them till he gets his souls
el maƱana
Noodle is a tease

I wouldn't be surprised if she goes commando

Phase 4 will probably disrupt the peace they've all finally found.
So is she gonna be a MILF in the next one after this? Who's the father?
I like how Hewlett's art actually made her LOOK older and more mature, unlike so many artists who just draw aged kids as taller with boobs
>tfw noodle is my age
shit taste like this should be illegal.
DARE is the one song that instantly comes to mind when I think of Gorrillaz. Only thing that can top it is Stylo
Gorillas has so much dropped and wasted ideas it's not even funny. The story is relied on devoted fans to peace together, I'm sunrise there are no major contradictions yet.
My only questions is why The Fall, and not Sea-Side?
I love the Fall. It doesn't fit Gorillaz, but I enjoy it. There's so much music left over and never officially released.
A lot of fucking errors you got there m8 but nice trips.
>Fire out of the Monkey's Head
There were no screams.
There was no time.
I see The Fall as 2-D trying to keep sane while trapped on the beach
CQC BRO YES
murdoc
Gorillaz Lore?
Just buy the fuckin' book.
It's an excellent escape if you spend long hours in the loo due to crones disease.
The Mountain called Monkey had spoken.
There was only fire..
