Zootopia

So it's settled then, that we can now call it a 'formulaic masterpiece'?

yes. No when I rewatch it (I've only seen it once) I need to substitute animal people for regular people and see if it holds up

The song of hustlers everywhere.

So how many of you are actually furries?

Sounds tough, how would that even work out?

i hate seeing this furry shit everywhere

I dunno. I feel like I'll still like it but when I saw it I definitely gave it too much credit simply for it featuring animal people. I'm just going to sub everyone else with made up human characters in my mind and see how it unfolds

>masterpiece
it's just shit. You don't want to admit it for some reason. Brand loyalty maybe

It's a masterpiece for sure, but even the formulaic aspects are meaningful and well executed. Even the inevitable indecent that drives the protagonists apart is believable and done in such a way that you can't help but side with Judy even in her ignorance.

I don't think that would really work, the race relations in Zootopia aren't really a 1 to 1 comparison with race relations in real life. The racial politics of the movie wouldn't make sense with real people.

>formulaic
This is a buzz word used by critics who do not comprehend that every story follows a three act formula since the dawn of time and sans for weird and rarely successful experiments by ambitious directors it's the only way to tell a story with a proper introduction, conflict and resolution right.

Notice that being OVERLY formulaic, doing nothing new and therefore being boring and absolutely predictable is a valid complaint, but Zootopia is far from that. Not many people who went in blind guessed that Nick is gonna end as a cop and the ending was far less romantic and more open than 90% of Disney movies that have both a man and a woman in leading roles.

You cannot substitute animals in Zootopia for humans and have it work perfectly. It's an animal world and the analogies tend to fall apart when you put humans in their place. That's why there are those few lower scores on RT than bring the movie down to 98%. Because idiots writing those reviews couldn't clearly substitute genders or minorities as either preds or prey and they claimed that the movie got lost in it's moral, while in reality it delivered it's moral superbly showing that EVERYONE, even the ones suffering from prejudice, can have prejudice of their own. The movie did not take any sides, but simply told us to at least try to get along. And that's what mace it good instead of trash PC propaganda.

...

Nice to see a Zootopia thread up tbqh. Been way too long without one.

because in all honesty judy's only "ignorance" was "oh shit man, I don't know what to do in front of these cameras" and she said the wrong thing under pressure

...

>"Go back to the jungle!" "I'm from the Savannah!"
Go back to China! I'm from Singapore!

>WHen other bunnies say it it's okay when other animals say it...
Nigger

>Prey starting race riots against preds
Literally any society where the majority has overwhelming influence over the minority

I know the blueberry thing kinda fucks everything over though but I'm a weird person and sure I'll figure something out

I need cute screenshots. Now!

I'm sure others will continue to post them!

Ah Zootopia.
The best cartoon animal movie about the coming race war. And how it was all manufactured by white people. And also how it will be averted by an adorable interracial couple.

So in the epilogue, Elba's read of Bogo's "Just kidding"...
It seemed way more light-hearted than all of his other sarcastic comments like "we have new recruits, who cares".

Do you think it was a jab solely at Hopps, since her first assignment was parking duty? Do you think it was also playing off Wilde's sarcastic greeting card comment? Do you think Bogo is less hard-ass now that Hopps and Wilde have proven themselves?

I'd be really interested to see where they take Bogo's personality and interaction with his officers in the inevitable distant sequel.

In that case... Have to be careful when posting this level of cute.

Hey you niggers. 3D learner faggot here with plenty of time to waste who has slightly intermediate knowledge of Blender and also a Judy Hopps rig with plenty of Photoshop experience.

Willing to make your non-lude poses of whatever you like in Blender with a 1 / 10 possibility of me beautifying it in Photoshop in a composite. For free. I remade this dank last night as testimony of my 30-minute powers (and don't blame me for the hairs on the eyelids - I didn't read the fur simulation script properly) Also, rendering can take a few hours.

...

This pic makes me want a Psych like show staring them so bad.
also some draw, if it hasn't been done before, Sean and Gus and Zoopotians.

Source?

>manufactured by a prey animal
>prey animals are more numerous
>the most numerous people are browns
>whites are slowly becoming the minority

Thank god, the cute interracial couple will be a white guy with a brown babe. I approve wholeheartedly.

From what I remember, Bogo and the rest of the division had their own sense of humour at the start, which is part of what made Judy feel so alienated on her first day. He gained respect for her and got to know her better by the time she returned her badge. By the end of the film where she was back on the force, he knew her well enough to adjust his delivery of jokes to accommodate her sense of humour and make her feel as welcome as the other officers.
That's my impression, anyway.

...

"formulatic"

there was no formula, those were random ingredients that somehow managed to work together after a serious shakedown.

Out of curiosity, what CPU would you be rendering it on? Also, is it worth it to spend a bit of time in PS to fix the weird fur or not?

Yeah obviously there are allusions to real-life race issues but they're mixed and matched between the different animals. Like the fact that foxes are all perceived as criminals is comparable to black people, but then so is the fact that Judy is the first of her kind to be a cop and the whole "only bunnies can say cute" thing. You can't point to one group and say "these are meant to be the white people, these are the blacks, these are the asians" etc.

i fucking love that about this movie, it was such a clever way to show a middle finger to these so called "sjw"s.

So hard-ass with a heart-of-gold? More Hopps-Bogo than Hopps-Wilde-Bogo?

I getcha. It's too animal specified even though it makes references to real life scenarios. Here's my oversimplified hypothesis.

Charismatic animals - untrustworthy (minority) demographics of a majority society subject to prejudice

Uncharismatic animals - the society's majority

Honestly I thought it would be the other way around but then again are giraffes charismatic animals?

>CPU
2011 shitbook 'pro'

>Fixing that
You would need to be a fantastic repainter. I tried using the healing, blur, clonestamp, and multiple overlays to try and correct it, but the eyelids are too fargone for anything of that nature, so I'd basically have to re-render with new settings, which I don't feel like doing. Do you have a pose request?

source?

You know, I have a laptop here I'm not using with a 4720HQ, so if you send me a few of the Blender files I can render on that- should be much faster and I'd like to add to my Judy collection.

Na, I'm playing with it myself on my desktop myself. Trying to do a football thing atm. You should remove that fur around the collar- easy to do.

Thanks for the offer. I have an old friend with a much more powerful setup who's willing to render when I need him to, but these renders honestly aren't that taxing. I usually get assistance when I need an animation rendered as a final render.

Share some of your 3D Judy, friend.

smoking is bad, but it somehow fits finnick.

Solo those arguments may work, but when you mix them together? Who is supposed to be black, foxes or rabbits? Prey or preds? A predator is the mayor and hires a token bunny to be a cop. Then preds get crazy and it's majority prey hating on those savage preds. Who is who?

The answer: nobody, they are animals and have different distinctions. And because of that we can see that anyone can be racist (even members of minorities), anyone can be sexist (even females), anyone can be an asshole (even those who are treated unfairly). So the movie tells us: don't be an asshole and at least try to get along.

I'd say so. He learned his lesson with Judy that you can't judge someone based on appearances alone oh shit, that's one of the morals, and respects Nick for the role he played too much to be a total hard-ass on his first day. But he knows Judy the best.

Thank you

realistically though if fruitopia ever existed I see it as impossible. I mean even today a lot of us can BARELY tolerate each other and we're all humans with virtually the same physical makeup. In zootopia there's too many fucking variables and desu I can never see small animals practically living and interacting with big animals around them.

isn't it strange how Christianity exists in zootopia though?

Ah, fair enough. Depends desu. I've been teasing with the idea of rendering at 5K and I can still see noise even with 1024 samples, so I'll be looking at 12+ hours on my laptop and 6ish on my desktop. This is only for stills of course, animation (when I get bored of doing stills...) would probably have to be at 720p.

I have very few. Started when I was at uni doing exams (hence the image) and spent most of my time actually learning Blender so I could do more interesting stuff than move a model around. Pic isn't really finished, but I don't have the original file anymore for some reason so I can't really improve the face, text or the general quality of the render.

I'll be sure to post my football one when I finish it in a dozen hours or so...

>Laverne is sometimes associated with the Roman goddess Laverna or the Latin word versus "of Spring"
So, Spring, signifying warmth, hope, ressurection, first Ray's of sunshine after long winter.
How remarkably fitting.

99.97% weapons grade Cutonium right here.

>that scene Hopps and Wilde fall into the water and Nick surfaces first
>"Carrots!"
>"Hopps!"
>"Judy!"

And just like that, in one scene, we see the fox Nicholas Piberius Wilde go from "concerned acquaintance" to "worried friend" to "desperate love interest" in a flash.
And people wonder why WildeHopps gets shipped so hard.

W-what is the other 0.03%? I thought Judy was pure...

Same here. I'm currently learning Maya fulltime (to be a legitimate animator) but I screw around in Blender, mostly for fun. I find it a lot easier to use for smaller projects.

Help me a bit, and it's really quick to confirm a suspicion of mine. I've been talking to the creator of the Judy_rig, whom I've known for a little while, and this happens (pic related). The facial rig is an amalgamation of massive control bones, which he says isn't supposed to happen, but nothing so far seems to have worked in fixing it. To see if this is an isolated issue, can you post a screenshot of your Judy rig, in pose mode with the face bones enabled, and your current version of Blender? I have 2.74 and the problem migrated when he said to try it in 2.75 earlier today.

Obligatory.

Pure Slut

...

Me too.

It seems Janitor him/herself are furfags.

This is worser than Frozen generals.

I honestly loved that scene for the exact same reason.

Ah, fair enough. I can't see myself learning this to become a professional, but I want to get pretty good at it and be able to put together a model of most things that I can think of.

Here ya go. Since you talk to the guy, does he think it's possible to improve it? I would like to add more control to the arms, hands and face, but I realise that I have a long way to go before I can attempt it and would like to know whether it's feasible.

Delete this right fucking now.

But he doesn't grow up to become a physician.

okay, I hate apple stuff as much as the next guy, but I'm not sure how this image is relevant and I'm also curious to know what kind of a person would kill that many ithings?

It's probably not their stuff...

>cross-over that took a decade and a half to be made

>whether it's feasible
Yes, you can indeed edit the rig, but he puts quite a bit of work into making them work the way he needs them to, so he uses scripts (hence why you need to 'Auto-run python scripts'). If you know what you're doing he gives a little description in the text box when you open the original file.

Also, thanks. I now know it's just me with this bullshittery.

Mhm, that shouldn't be a problem.

No problem, are you working on anything right now?

I need more yandere judy

Oh shit I barely remembered that

The fucking song kicked in just as I saw this

Nick would eat her if she tried that

Currently thinking of what else to remake in Blender with Judy. Not really working on anything yet.

Fair enough. Nice to know that there's more than one person playing around with the 3D model, anyway

I was planning on making a short animation test, but fuck trying to work with the current oversized face bones. Hoping to fix it today. Keep up the good work.

Look forward to seeing it if you get around to it tbqh. Animation looks really, really difficult
