There's a shit ton to choose from but these are the one's that always come to mind when top 5s are in my mind

Moonrise is great. Really captures youth, young love, even scouting. That comfy atmosphere.

Not bad, a lot of depressing picks though.

>Lethal Weapon
>Lethal Weapon 2
>Midnight Run
>Grosse Pointe Blank
>Way of the Gun
shit, predator and the thing are good but the rest blow

>In the Mood for Love
>The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford
letterboxd.com/deity/

I don't understand blood diamond. I don't agree with others, but I'll admit they're remarkable films that could qualify for someone's favorite.

But Blood Diamond isn't remarkable. I just don't see how you put it in there.

This is pretty hard, especially if you're not 16 anymore.

Blade Runner
Taxi Driver
El Topo
Angel's Egg
Apocalypse Now

please choke to death.
slowly.

>Blues Brothers
>The Thing
>The Big Lebowski
>Reservoir Dogs
>Whiplash

>Children of Men
>Reservoir Dogs
>Heavy Metal
>Big Lebowski
>Training Day

Way too many to choose from but I can watch any of these with anyone any day of the week.

>Children of Men
I never understood why anyone would think this is good.
It was so terrible.

Paris, Texas
Spirited Away
The Godfather II
Harvey
Night of the Hunter

>barnes and noble pleb starter pack.jpg

not gonna rate the rest of you, you know you're trash

Bruh that's like my whole personality. It was either Moonrise Kingdom or Rushmore honestly. I think Moonrise is Wes Anderson's best film

Autism - the list

Children of Men was a top 10 of all time film

essential redditcore

Jesus christ. That made me laugh so much. God bless you user

>are you the fucking simpleton that posted in that classic italian film thread?

I don't even know what you're talking about dude. Not sure why you'd call me a simpleton.

Blue Velvet
My Own Private Idaho
Ran
Wings of Desire
Memories of Murder

It was entertaining. I wouldn't put it in my top 100 though and my top 5 includes two Lethal Weapon movies.

>Heat
>Die Hard
>12 Angry Men (the original)
>Once Upon a Time in the West
>Hudsucker Proxy

Trainspotting
Chinatown
Moonlight
Adaptation
Pootietang

Favorites, not necessarily the best.

show your list tough guy

>Sex and the City 2
>That's My Boy
>The Dark Knight Rises
>Captain America: Civil War
>Exit to Eden

I couldn't fully enjoy Wings of Desire because of that Nicolas Cage remake. It killed it for me but I still like the film. I love the idea that all artist are angels that give up immortality to appreciate the intricacies of life. or at least that's what I got out of it.

its very well made and well acted, but i didnt find it very interesting storywise.

>muh dystopia

But why?

The story is simple and not really interesting, characters hold conversations to give exposition even though there's no reason for them to dicuss any of it because it's common knowledge in-universe, the female lead is bland, the female side character is infuriating, the gypsy woman they pick up later is annoying as well but she's only around for like 10 minutes and there's really nothing special about this movie at all.

There is one shot where somone throws a brick at their windshield early on that I liked, but that's it.

>its very well made and well acted, but i didnt find it very interesting storywise.

You just summed up my feelings on the director's entire oeuvre.

>liking blue velvet enough to put it in your top five
lol

Intolerance
Intolerance
Intolerance
Intolerance
and Intolerance

I want to suck Griffith cock, I want to have Griffith babys

>Love Exposure
>INLAND EMPIRE
>Marketa Lazarová
>California Split
>Barry Lyndon

>condemns others
>won't post his own list
>fears criticism on an anonymous weeb incel messageboard

you are pathetic

Blue Velvet is perfect dude

not bad

Griffithposter you are an absolute Mad Man. I respect your enthusiasm.

I like them both but I think I prefer how raw and subdued El Topo is compared to Holy Mountain which is more spectacular. Visually though Holy Mountain is better, of course.

I find it difficult to say that something is my definite favourite though as there are so many films that I enjoy for different reasons.

no problem, i do it for free

Booooring.
I once wrote a 2,000+ word essay on Birth of a Nation and I didn't even get an hour into it. I got high to be "enlightened" but the film was boring af so I decided to jerk off instead.
Still got full credit tho

oh damn. I want to poach Memories of Murder for my list now. I'll drop... fuck, idk, but it belongs on my list.

>tfw I want to contribute to the thread
>tfw I can't because I don't feel like rating people on their tastes based on my own subjective standards

Gangs of New York
Lawrence of Arabia
The Grand Budapest Hotel
Apocalypse Now
Network

Nic Cage remake? I'm glad I've never heard of this

Apocalypse Now
Manhunter
Once Upon a Time in America
The Good The Bad and the Ugly
The Thing

i feel you. Jodorowsky is like a better version of David Lynch imo. His philosophy and mysticism is fucking great too. Like I low key love the man. Also you got some good taste based on that pic. What's the one on the top right tho.

probably his worst film

angels egg
faggot

network is underrated

Being There
Gates of Heaven
Brazil
Interstellar
Amadeus

>Manhattan
>La Dolce Vita

>Pierrot le Fou
>The Bridge on the River Kwai
>After Hours

>The scarlet Pimpernel 1982
>Bloodsport
>The Rock
>The Patriot

Just say what you like and recommend shit maybe. Don't trip dog. It's the internet. No one cares.

Days Of Heaven
Fargo
For A Few Dollars More
The Shining
The Treasure Of The Sierra Madre

i think he means city of angels

big talk for such a shitty opinion man

>Gangs of New York

Not saying it's bad, but I don't see why you'd call it a favourite

Process mononoke is probably the greatest animation of all time.

>I take my hobby of passively consuming media way too seriously and treat other people's work as accessories of my own personality to give the illusion I'm smarter and far more interesting than I really am

Yeah it's called City of Angels and it has the same premise and it's kind of okay but it's a super watered down version. I kept thinking of it while I watched it .

>Network

I dunno wtf is wrong with me but i've only just seen this, excellent film, 10/10, not what i was expecting. If anyone hasn't seen it- do that shit.

thats six movies, youre disqualified from this thread

thanks b

>heavy handed symbolism
>boring characters
>shit dialogue (from hopper particularly)
you probably think twin peaks is a good show too

lmao fr.

Angel's Egg.

I dunno, I like Lynch and Jodorowsky.
They have very different qualities.

where's your list bud
and what could Lynch's best be if not Blue Velvet?

That would be Dune or Wild at Heart.

Oh for sure but I think Jodorowsky deserves the praise that Lynch gets if not more.

>Kill Bill vol 2
>Aliens
>Mildred Pierce
>Star Wars 5
>Outlaw Josey Wales

>boring characters
great criticism there
>shit dialogue (from hopper particularly)
babby can't into bressonic acting
>heavy handed symbolism
that's not what the film is about, doofus

Kill Bill 2 is an excellent film. While 1 has the energy and action 2 really has substantial heart, the most his films have ever had. And great action.

eraserhead

>The Jungle Book (1967)
>Akira
>Tokyo Godfathers
>Hausu
>The Graduate

not the user who listed it, but danny derp lewis' performance basically eclipses any flaws the movie has. also the costumes and sets are peerless. leonardo can die in a fire, though, he's worthless. still a masterpiece simply for DDL.

Not him, but I would say The Elephant Man.

what's so great about it then

Jodorowsky definitely is underappreciated.
I'm looking forward to his Sons of El Topo graphic novel.

its one film. if some fucking studio decided it would market better split apart, idgaf. it's one film.

Oh shit what? When's that coming out and where can I cop ?

given that dune has the only mainstream use of a plug gag, it's not dune.

Exactly. It would be a great movie, but it's brought down by a horrible lead

Actually it's two movies. Kill Bill Volume 1, and Kill Bill Volume 2.

I agree, it's really an underrated Tarantino movie. You learn so much about everyone and for fucking once not everyone is layered in sarcastic bullshit and ironic social commentary. They all have real motivations. Tarantino expertly plays the "Lone Wolf and Cub" tragedy.

First Volume is out but only in french.

Jodorowsky also plans to adapt it to film.

>shawshakn redemption
>la haine
>princess mononoke
>pans labyrinth
>shutter island

watch more films

Eh, I though it was one of the weaker Ghibli films.

...

Damn. I'd master French before he adapted it to film. That's dope though.
