It's not the language itself it's the way Russians speak it that make it sound horrible. Russian talk with a ghetto accent which make it sound like a bunch of disgusting gibberish. It's like black Americans talking English, it sounds horrible too.

We (or at least I, maybe this isn't really common) tend to associate sounds like D and G and V as being sort of "rough" and "dirty" sounds
However since I actually started learning Russian I find it beautiful, it sounds so nice spoken by people that actually speak it properly
