Twitter (yes, I'm a normie) had an "official" Marvel vs. DC debate.

This is what causals believe.

...

...

...

I don't have a twitter and I won't even bother to check it, but I can predict 90% of the pro Marvel replies.

>Marvel characters are more human/ muh relatable superheroes

He's right though
also Marvel obviously caters far more to progressives and liberals so that's half the popularity won right there

>DC characters are so overpowered.

All of these are fairly moderate, reasonable opinions.

I like both because Console Wars is pretty stupid, but this one is my favorite.

Marvel, in the past 3 years, has had more relaunches than DC. And Secret Wars was a convoluted multiverse mess.

Forgot final pic.

Really, I think fighting over which is better, rather than just preferring one, is pretty causal.

More reasonable and level headed than anything you would find in a thread here.

>Really, I think fighting over which is better, rather than just preferring one, is pretty causal.

None of these are real "fighting" just statements of preference based on simple observations.

Pretty much yeah, Sup Forums loves to hate.

Is it fare to say that Marvel has managed their brands better in the last 20 years or so?

I mean Batman is still a potent franchise but...

A fucking R-rated Deadpool movie outdid a movie where Batman fights Superman

If that's not an indictment that Warner Bros doesn't know their asses from their elbows, I don't know what is

>Not listing the best squad, Task Force X.

It'd be fair to say that until around Civil War when Marvel really started going down the toilet.

Just wait for Suicide Squad to do better than BvS and WB to decide that this means that people want to see more super villains and less heroes

>Is it fare to say that Marvel has managed their brands better in the last 20 years or so?

The MCU is literally the highest grossing film franchise of all time, with more than a dozen films in its series.

While MoS and BvS are officially the only films that count, Catwoman, Jonah Hex, and Green Lantern show a disastrous misunderstanding of making movies.

Without the Dark Knight trilogy Time-Warner would have nothing to boast of.

Oh, yeah, I'm just kinda making a general statement. I'm talking more about Sup Forums and Leddit than Twitter.

>I ship DC over Marvel
>Ship
What?

>It'd be fair to say that until around Civil War when Marvel really started going down the toilet.

Civil War was in 2007, so you're saying you haven't enjoyed any Marvel comics in nearly a decade?

Girls like to imagine Nightwing being gay.

It's quite a big appeal to the character.

>don't need to confuse people with constant reboots or multiverses

Source: the DVD shelf

20 years or so? Not at all. Just during the run of the MCU. And only *for* the MCU, really. No one cares about superhero shit on TV at the moment.

Honestly, I'm absolutely a Marvel guy, but aside from a few exceptions, have you? I don't mean exactly Civil War, but I mean roughly around that time period, I'm awful at remembering sequences of events, admittedly.

Sup Forums has become a board dominated by people who don't read comics.

It's mostly movie trolling, or someone sees a headline about Ms. Marvel or Green Lantern being muslim and pops in to troll.

Meanwhile, the minority of Sup Forums that does read comics rarely buys them, and obsesses over comics they hate.

I have yet to see Squirrel Girl not get storytime every Wednesday it come out.

Isn't Nightwing literally the character that has fucked the most (named) female characters of all the DC comics?

Any time Marvel has rebooted they've reverted back. The multiverse comment gives me top kek though

It blows my mind that BvS failed to break a billion. Two of the most recognizable American icons failed to outgross Guardians of the Galaxy domestically.

>Not enjoying Secret Wars
Fucking

Yeah, I admit I came to Sup Forums to discuss comics, but I keep getting sucked into these company war threads. I can't help it, they're so fucking entertaining. Everyone gets so worked up.

>Honestly, I'm absolutely a Marvel guy, but aside from a few exceptions, have you? I don't mean exactly Civil War, but I mean roughly around that time period, I'm awful at remembering sequences of events, admittedly.

Planet Hulk
Hawkeye
Moon Knight
Ms. Marvel
Howard the Duck
Weirdworld
Karnak
Ultimates
Black Panther
Scarlet Witch
A-Force
Silver Surfer
All-New Wolverine
The Vision

I'm sure I'm missing a few in there, and I've dropped some like the recent Hercules, Captain Marvel, and some others, but overall I've had a blast.

Yes, that's how they keep the fantasy going.

The more heterosexual conquests he gets, the saucier it is to imagine him exploding into passionate gay lust.

I've seen every variation of every possible conversation someone could have about Watchmen, Man of Steel, and I'm slowly seeing every point that can possibly be made about BvS.

I've forgotten more trivia about the films than most people will ever discover once.

It was just a poor movie and a movie can be bad independently from the amount of "deepness" it has, and nowadays, with Twitter, Facebook etc. people can be submerged by comments and reviews about it even the same day it's released, thus convincing a good number of people that may have thought of watching it one of the following days to abandon the idea

Is this the reason they made Iceman gay?

For almost 10 years, this is pratically nothing buddy. Most of it is even very, very recent.

That doesn't remotely answer my question. The tweet didn't even mention Dick.

Worse, Iceman was boring.

Bobby Drake's whole deal was that he was the youngest of the original x-men, and was a hothead. But as the characters aged up, Bobby was given power upgrades rather than a personality.

"Revealing" him as gay isn't great writing, but it's the most attention he's gotten in years.

and also very bad

This is also only books released in the last year.

>All-New Wolverine

That's actually good? That's unexpected, may check it out.

It's not but neither is Scarlet Witch or Silver Surfer.

>That doesn't remotely answer my question.
>The tweet didn't even mention Dick.

"I ship DC more than Marvel" translates to "There are more DC character I can fantasize about having hot sweaty gay fuck sessions"

And Nightwing is the premier icon of DC's gaybaiting characters.

I just rattled some off that I liked from memory dudes, I don't keep an Excel spreadsheet ready.

Iceman worked as the mutant superhero who didn't give that much of a fuck about being a mutant. He was the dude who could talk to the Avengers without starting a fight or, ideally, would remind guys like Cyke and Beast that the X-Men are supposed to defend EVERYBODY.

The issue with the gay reveal isn't "oh no he's gay", its "a straight girl uses psychic powers to out him, twice, discarding every relationship with a woman he's ever has as irrelevant."

>That's actually good? That's unexpected, may check it out.

The story is solid and David Lopez's are is sex. He gives all the girls DSL.

>It's not but neither is Scarlet Witch or Silver Surfer.

SW is fine and has a great rolodex of artists. Silver Surfer is a fun Mike Allred comic done with a scooby doo tone in the style of the Lee & Kirby Fantastic Four.

Chuck Austen's Iceman was fine, a loser who was depressed because everyone else he grew up with went on to do better things.

Oh I'm not doubting there isn't blowback to this, but comics can't exist in stasis, every character has to either move forward or die.

Nothing Chuck Austen did was good.

Nice bandwagon. He wrote a lot of bad stuff, but there's no problem with the way he characterized Iceman.

Spider-man Brand New Day was pretty enjoyable, and it's ending arcs of the Gauntlet and Grim Hunt were legitimately fantastic. Hickman's Fantastic Four was great, too. There was always cosmic Marvel stuff too. Marvel is 50/50 but to say the good stuff they've had since Civil War were just "exceptions" is honestly a disservice to the good writers Marvel has.

well its nothing to do with the quality of the main universe but hes right dcs multiversal shit is fucking pointless its there worst trait

>Nice bandwagon.

Austen's X-Men was bad and I don't give a fuck if he managed to write a single decent line of dialog in his time.

honestly these are better then even my most optimistic speculations when i opened the thread

You're right. I admit that my perspective is skewed because I've mostly been an X-Men fan, but I'd say that overall Marvel's been screwing over a lot of it's brands recently.

That's far from true in modern comics. Give it a few weeks and Parker will be taking pictures for Jameson again

How do you figure? I think the only one being legitimately mishandled is Spider-man... But for as awful as Slott's writing is, he managed to get people buying the title again so what do I know.

>BND
>Pretty enjoyable

GTFO Quesada, your shit is non-canon

If you're an x-men fan I feel for you, but Fantastic Four was worn out for a long time before it got cancelled.

That the Hickman run got to exist is a nice enough sendoff, but that's about it.

Well, he need any penny he can get for his marriage with MJ

I'm aware of the cyclical nature of comic books, but the illusion of change and controversy reigns supreme.

If Marvel doesn't shake the beehive, fans become complacent and drift to other media.

HOT TAKE INCOMING:
I feel Like DC has taken more risks in comics

>"I ship DC more than Marvel" translates to "There are more DC character I can fantasize about having hot sweaty gay fuck sessions"

I wish these women would stop oppressing male characters.

This must be why I ship Marvel over DC.
Significantly more semen demons.

While I'm not questioning the assumption I'm not really sure about it's truthfulness either, but let's accept it anyway, DC is also the one that NEEDS to take risks.
Right now Marvel is literally at the head of the comics "hierarchy", representing almost one half of the comics market and having spawned the most successful movie franchise in the cinema history
They can literally sit on their asses and recycle a Spidey story of less than an year ago and people would buy it anyway.

>All those people who thought that BvS was going to crush Civil War because it had Batman in it

Well they dip into more genres than just superheroes, and do stuff like Wednesday Comics and Solo, plus the upcoming Khamandi Challenge. Vertigo, while not the creative powerhouse it once was, is still around, and we're getting Young Animal, while Marvel's Epic line has long since disappeared. Makes sense.

all of it is utter garbage.
jesus user, get a better taste

What comics do you like?

>Twitter

>muh shitposting!

This. I wish some anons were like this.

Yeah but he's never been in a long term relationship which means he's totally a fag.

>A fucking R-rated Deadpool movie outdid a movie where Batman fights Superman
That's more of a credit to Reynolds's obsession with pulling off that movie. Marvel didn't really have anything to do with the Deadpool movie beyond owning the character Fox has the movie licence to.

Profile pics alone make me believe these people are idiots, even in general conversation.

I really like that all these "normies" are all pretty pleasant in stating their opinion . Which led this board of whatever the opposite of normies are into a DC/Marvel argument.

> highest grossing film franchise of all time

Meaningless statement. If you vomit out 2 movies per year and it still takes you 12 films to beat the Harry Potter franchise, its due to pure quantity. Nice try though, kid.

To imply that DC has any control over its films shows how fucking casual you are. GO BACK TO Sup Forums
