Jason Voorhees Could Separate From 'Friday the 13th' Due to Rights

>Imagine this Friday the 13th horror story: The franchise is ripped apart. In the United States, new films in the canon are made but without the "Jason" character. Outside the country, other Friday the 13th sequels come — these with "Jason" — but are banned domestically. If that sounds odd, it's all possible thanks to the 1976 Copyright Act and what happens soon in a Connecticut federal court.

>Eurofags get Jason

Will they make him a Christian republican and use him as proof of the evil of the right wing?

>new films in the canon are made
lol

Nice dubs and yes.

Or the fanfic about him being Jesus's evil twin gets made into a script

>The UK gets Jason
>Cannot produce any films with him because all horror films are either heavily censored or outright banned in their country

lol "video nasties". You tea-sipping queers didn't get The Exorcist until like 2012.

...

That was like 30 years ago m8.

how can 16 year old americunts live in the 1970s? amazing

does anyone really care about this franchise? I guess it makes the studio some reliable income as long as they keep the production costs down. who gives a shit?

It's also kind of sad that every bit of fiction has to have a "canon" these days, as if there's no point to a story unless you can milk an expanded universe from it.

sad. and again, who cares about friday the 13th?

Sup Forums needs to leave

Good post.
Checked.

Halloween 3 didn't have Michael Myers in it, as was one of the better ones in the franchise.

>do ppl actually care about what I dont?

Billions of ppl out there, yea I'm sure some care moron

Jason is boring now. What else could they possibly do with him? They ran out of ideas after part 6

Turn him into a good guy. It worked for Godzilla. The audience has already rooted for him for all these years so why beat around the bush anymore and just let him kill criminals or other monsters from now on.

Jason is the punisher now?

Why doesn't whoever own all the slashers like Jason Freddy and Myers just make a mass cinematic universe with a finale where they all fight ash

Friday the 13th is fucking awful. A hapless extra in a ten dollar hockey mask wrestling with cheerleaders.

Only Halloween is kino.

I don't get this.
So US still gets to make Friday to 13th but without Jason in them?
What's the point?

>It's also kind of sad that every bit of fiction has to have a "canon" these days
The fuck are you on about? They were making a story out of Friday the 13th before you were a twinkle in your father's balls

This hasn't happened yet, its only a possibility. It depends on how the rights are handled.

But yeah, if it does happen, then the US producers can use the Friday the 13th title, but not Jason himself.

Kinda like how Halloween 3 has the Halloween title but no Michael Meyers. Or how the Friday the 13th tv show didn't have Jason.

Friday the 13th is a flick
Nightmare on Elm Street is a movie
Halloween is a film
Texas Chainsaw Massacre is kino

Halloween is dog shit compared to Friday 13th

I don't know what any of this shit means, can someone dumb it down?

Can't they just make a character called "Josh" in a baseball catcher's mask or football helmet and say he died in similar circumstances? The only recognizable thing about him is the mask, and no one would really care

That series was sooo fucking terrible.
It was like a more boring, watered down version of Warehouse 13.

it would be fantastic if they would stop making these shitty movies

>they make him a Christian republican

That's going to backfire and make Him the protagonist.

>What else could they possibly do with him?

Put him in Portland.

This would be pretty cool if it focused on them and not some faggot teenagers like Freddy vs Jason

>You tea-sipping queers didn't get The Exorcist until like 2012
Actually it was 1999 and I remember it being a big thing when it was finally released on home video.

Also it was never actually banned in the UK, just never submitted for classification for VHS release.

Reminder that Austin Powers was ten minutes shorter in the US because of censorship

>Only Halloween is kino.
Michael Myer's mask is a Shatner Captain Kirk mask painted white, I'm not shitting you.

>Cunningham and Miller both are claiming ownership to the Friday the 13th franchise
>Cunningham created the title 'Friday the 13th' and Miller created a 'Jason' character that died as a young boy due to the negligence of his camp counsellors.
>Depending on how this court situation is handled the rights could split between the title and the character

Then you need to add the whole WGA issues referenced in the article with dated copyright laws also referenced and its becomes a mess of "who owns what" etc...

Thats a pretty common piece of movie trivia

Well the dude was bitching about the Jason mask.

Based copyright jews ruining everything for everyone

they are not based at all.

well yeah

Is this why Jason Goes to Hell and Jason X didn't have Friday the 13th in the title?

Halloween is the shittiest of all. At least Jason has a unique design and his kills are always cool as fuck.

Nightmare > Texas > Friday >>>>>>> Halloween

Happened in Freddy V Jason.

>harry potter had to be named sorcerers stone in america because they knew americans wouldn't go to something as boring sounding as philosophers stone

lmao
