Would Slenderman exist in the American Gods world?

>Anything that has a lot of belief and attention can become a god, so why not the Slenderman and the other Internet legends?

I think something needs to be more than popular, or even believed. People need to care about the god, or need it in some way.

it needs to not be completely retarded and invented by faggots

god aint good

He just needs one person who really believes

Because the last time someone believed in him too hard, they ended up leaving a girl for dead in the woods.

Probably not a good time to do that.

Isnt that like all religions

Can someone explain to me the scene in the bar in episode 6 with Mad sweeney, zombie and the gaylord terrorist?

I mean what's the deal with anal sex and the love of zombie grill?

If god is all powerful, then he cannot be all good

They should totally include a frog god of chaos in the show.

>book was written over 20 years ago

Wait for Season 2, 3, 4 and 5. The book has only established the foundation you speak of.

She was dead inside when she was alive and she's dead inside now

back to Sup Forums with you DCuck

>The show takes place in the current year

Pepe would be a God rising fast.

blood sacrifice = power
so slenderman exists in that universe
fug

Vulcan did nothing wrong

This shot is great use of CG
I think this show does a great job of showing magic instead of explicitly saying so

Yeah.
He might be some sort of divine spin-off of Technical Boy, but it exist for sure given the rules of that world.

cause you need to worship it too. It's about believing and making commitments. also you have to truly believe it, If you know it doesn't exist It won't exist or If you forget about it dies. also It's metaphorical so stop wasting my time you cunt.

Nobody actively commits to, or worship the New Gods, it's just the faith of those concept being there and the evergrowing reliance on them, that creates the gods and gives them power.
Vulcan is a "rebranding" but still works on Old God logic, so he doesn't count.

Also, folklore creatures exist, probably by virtue of believing as well, and probably a good number of people are obsessed with the concept of a "boogieman". Given that the actual blood sacrifice was related to Slenderman, it may have actually sprung to existence.

>I think this show does a great job of showing magic instead of explicitly saying so
Jesus Christ this.

This is basically what I thought this is what modern magic should look like when reading stuff like this or Sandman Slim (Which I would kill to see this as a show) or even Dresden files.

No.

Probably just an aspect of Technical Boy.

By the books and short stories, the fact two teen girls did that and the level of social awareness of him, he is out there

Then again it might be Media, it all depends on the definition of "Media" and it extending on "computer stuff".
But I just say that because I want a lanky predatory Gillian Anderson stalking the woods in a black suit.

>>Anything that has a lot of belief and attention can become a god, so why not the Slenderman and the other Internet legends?

And now I'm sad the SCP Foundation isn't nearly as well known as Slenderman, because it would be a wonderful secluded and self-contained clusterfuck (because this kind of belief never actually goes out to destroy the world, just as the moon moster in episode two) of weird (and pretty retarded at times) stuff for Shadow to go WTF every ten feet.

you mugs ready for the season finale? will finally start reading the book after I watch it.

...

He would probably be an aspect of Loki

wrong

she was dead inside when she lived, and now ironically is ever so slightly growing as a person despite being ACTUALLY dead

>Nobody actively commits to, or worship the New Gods

they don't really no. that really boggles me too. then again It's fiction and the main purpose is for them to be the metaphorical god of the usa so maybe It really doesn't matter in the end.

>Loki has the powers of globalism because .............???????

explain this bookfags

Well, people "have faith" in the New Gods, meaning they believe the concept they represent will be around forever and basically rely completely on them. Their "sacrifice" is their time and thoughts.

He has the power of complete and absolute fuckery over everyone, I guess globalism comes with the ruse

He re-branded himself

He stole them, go read his lore.

There are times when he pulls new powers out of his ass, just by lying. Shit you not.

>Their "sacrifice" is their time and thoughts.
perhaps as the gods change ways of worship has changed as well.

are they really gonna try and stretch this shit out that long?

I'm way behind but

>tfw even the filler episodes are perfect

My take on it is that the gods exist and have made their presence known to mortals who then worship them and give them attention, not the other way around (mortals inventing gods). So, the modern gods existed before their inventors made them up and perhaps they inspired them to create them like a muse.

Dresden files is literal fireballs, magic shields, lightning, spirit hands etc. its flashy AF, thats a terrible comparison

Its just a con, think about it what have you actually seen him do? change shape, that's it, even in modern shitty pop culture what god changes what they look like all the time?

The book says Gods are not exclusive to one field or are, and there are many Gods for a single "theme" and "subthemes". There is a Media god, sure, but that doesn't mean there is not a TV god, Movie god, etc.

In the book they ask if Media was one of the Goddesses who kills "their" children, making a reference how there is, lets say, a Sports god, but there can also be Gods of the different sports.

Kek definetly would.

That reference is because of Medea, Jason's wife who killed her own children

does it though?

does it really?

I dont watch this show

>post your face when Fat Charlie cameo
>Anancy just makes fun of him in front of Shadow and Wednesday

What about Bane? Bane is a pretty big guy in these parts, he should be a God on that show as well.

will this next episode, the last episode of this season, be rad?

the show needs to make Wednesday even cooler. sure he's cool and mysterious, but he seems so obtuse and it's getting old. "what do you believe?" "you wouldn't believe in me!" It's the storytelling version of edging without ever reaching an orgasm.

How many internet gods does the show need?

He's given Shadow every hint possible, its more like he's leaning in 90% and needs Shadow to come the other 10%

beheading a dude that was an old friend of him seems radical enough for me.

Of course not there is no RLM to invent him.

Pan.
Allah.
Susanoo.
The majority of cargo cult deities.
GTFO

So what the fuck do you think I would have to do to convince some large-ish porn studio to let me make an XXX parody of this show, both including look-alike gods and new gods based on fetishes and sexual interests, with their relative might based on occurrence in tagging and lookups on Pornhub or something?

It would be so much fun.

I imagine its already either in the works or has been done

I don't mean some crappy five-minute scene of someone who looks kind of like one of the sex appeal characters in the show half-assedly mumbling some lines about how she's A GOD and yeah you like that pussy hurr durr -> regular shitty porn.
I mean TRUE KINOGRAPHY

itt: plebs that never read the book

godspeed user, I wish you well

I have, 90% of these kids haven't tho, thats ok, its interesting to see what interpretations people make about this show without knowing the source material

>The Laura Show: featuring the guy who played Al Swearengen in a very small part.

I hate this show.

Soulless Marvel movies

>it's a "slenderman has a gay orgy with a bunch of muslim men" episode

Is Radical Larry a god?

kek, i'd pay to see that

>show is called American Gods
>last 5 episodes have been dedicated to a zombie and a leprechaun

That doesn't explain multiple version of the same god. Mexican Jesus exists because enough mexicans believed the concept of Jesus, and Alt Right Jesus exists just for the same reason. They're not two different gods making themselves known to the mortals, it's two "ideas" of gods coming to existence because of belief.

It's people creating gods, not the other way around.

Awesome, what would Hitler's god powers be?

I'll start.

>Can emit zyklon from his body cause it to completely contaminate the atmosphere around him
>Can be extremely charismatic and even leftists follow him
>Jews turn to ash when they are in his vicinity

There is no "good" property in the objective universe besides what your brain fools you to believe like it does with color.

Why would they make the gay scene but not the vagina scene? I want to see a God eating a guy with her vagina

They did, why would you comment on a show before watching even ep1

No.

They mention in the book (not sure about the show) that Johnny Appleseed is really pissed because everyone believes in Paul Bunyan, not him, even though Paul Bunyan never actually existed. He's just a manufactured tale taking up belief without actually existing.

Slenderman is a manufactured tale. All he would do is take up belief. He wouldn't actually exist.
