I understand where they're coming from, but you ought to go there at least once and see the nature, really beautiful. If you've got family there all the better - they can show you around and you don't have to worry about being a naive tourist all by yourself.
But unless you've got really strong ties and a connection to the country, once you're overseas you don't really want to go back - every other year we buy a plane ticket for family and host them for a week where we live at the time.
