How do you guys imagine Ultron sounding? I didn't mind Spader's voice, but I didn't really like the monotone computer voice they used for him in Earth's Mightiest Heroes. I usually imagine Ultron's voice as high and shrieking in hysterical anger.

General thread of what/whose voices you hear when reading comics?

Ultron is my favorite character of all time, loved him since I was a kid.

In my head I always pictured a crackly cybernetic version of Malcolm McDowell.

Accent and all? That's a pretty good one.

Well I just kinda figured Pym would have a shitty sense of humour, and make a robot butler have an English accent, and naturally it would become the most mean, evil sounding British actor there is

Nice reasoning. Not that Ultron's not an awesome character, but what makes him an all-time favorite for you?

Does anyone hear a Batman voice that's NOT Conroy? I love Conroy, but for some reason my mind is really stuck on Bruce Greenwood's Batman from Young Justice.

Whatever placeholder I had before the movie, Spader overwrote it.

Perfect Ultron voice. Too bad he was written like shit.

Depending on the context either like a Dalek or a Cyberman

Spader should have been amazing. When I read Ultron I hear a combination of Spader and Earth's Mightiest Heroes. It's pretty awesome.

I imagine him with either a deep, Non Conroy voice, or a whispery angry voice. It's hard to put into words

I always go with a raspy angry guy with a robotic eco.

Christopher Llyod Judge doom.

I know he was supposed to be just a discount RDJ, but I really enjoyed Eric Loomis' Iron Man. The slight whine to it worked for me for some reason

Spader was a perfect voice, they just made him too human. I'm not a "le quips" person but the point of Ultron was supposed to be that he was Stark's ego and genius without the humanity. By giving him such a human like demeanor they just made him another middling Marvel villain instead of the GOAT villain he could have been

Agreed. Spader was great, but he could have been greater.

Like Spader, but only during Ultron's intro and final scenes.

Damn user, that's actually pretty close, especially when he gets really angry and high pitched

He was human in the right amount. Just the quips were out of place.

Also, a face like OP's pic would've made him so great.

This

If they had of just chilled on the jokes a little bit

I just wanted scary Ultron

Ultron. I imagine a more robotic version of Dinobot from beast wars.

Ultron and Loki were too similar.

Although this way Thanos won't feel like a retread and may actually feel menacing.

Since I'm a filthy foreigner I was introduced to Convoy's voice really late in life by the Arkham Games.
This was the voice I grew up with ever since BTAS youtu.be/-KpBmBX5HKk

I love his voice in Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths. It was distinctly non-Conroy while still being very iconic. Then again maybe I just have a hard on for that entire movie as a whole.

>I usually imagine Ultron's voice as high and shrieking in hysterical anger.
So you imagine him yelling REEEEEEEEE?

Robotic Peter Weller

You Zucas and the Spaniards and most of Europe really got screwed with dubs.

You loose a lot in the process of it. Thank gd Portugal doesn't do it outside of children (as opposed to teenager) cartoons.

if microsoft sam could emote and had daddy issues

Interesting, I didn't even consider foreign language VAs. Batman and GL almost sound like they switched voices compared to the English VAs. Anyone else, user?

Honestly, yeah. He's just constantly rampaging and screeching like a tea kettle. Very emotional and very volatile.

You know, I always imagined Ultron as having Pym's voice, but computerized and a bit deeper.

And my voice for Pym in the comics was always Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan, for some reason.

I have no idea why, but like Garrus from Mass Effect.

>Honestly, yeah.
We need someone to whip up an angry Ultron pepe

Watching EMH and you are not wrong sir. Loomis feels more like Tony Stark while RDJ feels like a more intelligent RDJ.

I like it. McGregor's got a nice voice.

Hm. Fits the attitude and the swagger.

Anyone else really like Jeff Bennett's Red Tornado?

>"SHAZAM! Like how I did that?"
I did, Joey Naber, I actually really did like it.

>Anyone else really like Jeff Bennett's Red Tornado?
Just enough humanity in that voice to make him one of the team while still being eerie as fuck. Loving a lot of what's being posted here.

Yup. I liked the funny robotic voices that Powers Boothe and Corey Burton did for Justice League Unlimited and Brave and the Bold, but Bennett played a good Red who's voice wasn't supposed to be a joke.

Remember those fucked up synth voices from the 90's, like the intercom voice in Half-Life 1? That, but more legible and higher pitched. It shouldn't be a pleasant noise.

Frankly, like Starscream.

Gilbert Godried

Fuck

Same. I've had his voice in my head when I read since starting the show.

All sorts, really. I first came across the character when I was like 7, his origin story in my dads old Avengers, loved his look, his grinning smile. Later on when i collected comics myself i just continued to love his storylines, Jocasta, unlimited, his appearance in Daredevil.

His narration in the Last Avengers story is a big favorite of mine too

Mostly like these guys.

>Anyone else
Superman: youtu.be/1F4_WEkQwqQ
This dude been dubbing Superman ever since I was born, he made every Superman incarnation that I can remember and he has one of if not the most well known voice around here.

I see your shrill voice and raise you another.

Goddammit.

Not bad, not bad.

Whoever voiced HAL 9000

MCU Marvel better have a strong voice like Hale's

Pretty much a Dalek

DID HALE VOICE MS. MARVEL IN EMH?
>Going through Season 1 and having a blast. Hope Season 2 is just as good.

You didn't know that, user? She's got a pretty distinctive voice.

Season 2 is not as good.

Is Season 2 worth the effort? I managed to see an episode or two (first episode with Doom and the one with Yellowjacket) and thought they were pretty decent. I recognize it may not be as good as Season 1, but I'm really diggin this show.

It's not terrible, it's just not AS good. It kinda peters out.

I always kind of thought of him having a normal-ish voice, but I think its been stated a lot that he sort of squawks and has a high voice. Either way, I don't think he should have a monotone voice. Not sure if it could sound psychotic.

Has Thanos ever really had A voice. You know, one that you hear and go THAT'S Thanos.

Damn, what a nutjob. I wish he'd had psycho rants like that in AoU. His little tantrum when someone compared him to Stark was one of my favorite parts.

I can work with that.
Also James Woods as Owlman was a stroke of fucking genius in my book.

Never knew what to expect for Hank Pym but I gotta say Wally Wingert in EMH is doing it for me (which isn't to say the guy who voiced him in Avengers: United they Stand was bad, just a tad too stoic for my taste).

>ctrl+f Keaton
No one's posted best Spidey yet?

Guess that's a given, although I actually like Drake Bell even if Ultimate stinks.

>Best Spidey
>Keaton

Keaton's great an all, but he's no Christopher Daniel Barnes.

Sometimes I hear Roger Craig Smith or Adam West Batman, but it depends on what I'm reading.

I feel like Barnes works better as an adult Peter while Keaton is perfect for teenage Pete. Also I'm not sure what the consensus is but I really enjoyed NPH as Spider-Man in that TV show.

That show had a GOAT theme

youtube.com/watch?v=WIkH3V3wUiM

I love CDB, but Keaton is just a more talented actor. Admittedly, Keaton was working with better material in his series, but he just captures that snarky young guy so perfectly.

Still, I'll always remember this moment.

youtube.com/watch?v=EQSD1E7YjHQ

Not bad, and for some reason, crappy old CGI is really comfy for me.

Wasn't this show also supposed to be in continuity with the Raimi movies? Pretty sure it split off really quick though.

NPH was a good Spidey but it felt like he was just NPH-ing all over the role whereas Keaton sounds different as Spider-Man and young Ocelot, for example.

Honestly? I can't think of a better voice style for Ultron, especially during the Phalanx days.

Hynden Walch Starfire forever.

This scene is still chilling to me, just the raw emotion in his voice impresses me.

Never mind the shitty rescore, it's the only video of this scene I could find.

I'm gonna be the hipster here and go with Rino Romano as the GOAT Spider-Man

youtube.com/watch?v=muXld0ECq3w

How did I fuck that up?

You think you're the hipster? Fucking Dan Gilvezan is the best Spider-Man 2099.

James Arnold Taylor.

I imagine him like Spader. He was the perfecting casting for Ultron. Too bad it was ruined by Whedon's hack writing turning him into comic relief.

Yeah, that's the almost unique thing about Ultron compared to other evil AI/Robot characters.

Ultron is FUCKING CRAZY. Ultron is ANGRY and emotional on a level that makes the image I posted look rational. Ultron isn't just 'a bad guy' or 'robo-skynet'. Ultron isn't wiping out humanity because he pities them, or because they're a threat to him.

He's doing it because FUCK humans. He's Ultron. He does what he wants.

That's what I like about him too. Any robot can be cold and calculating, but not all of them can be whiny, raving lunatics.

When you put it that way it makes sense that he came from Hank Pym's brain patterns.

as far as the voice: a distorted, robotic version of his creator's voice (Pym or Stark)

as far as personality: either Spock-level deadpan and emotionless, or what implied, with every word dripping with raw, immeasurable hatred for humans.

Could be a mix, since he just starts out emotionless and then goes nuts at the drop of a hat.

i always hear Conroy when i read the Superman/Batman books, like Public Enemies. i used to hear Greenwood when i read TDKR, but ever since the movies came out, i've been using Weller. i still Greenwood when reading The Long Halloween or Dark Victory, though.

I rewatched AoU last night for the first time in months and I gotta say it's not as bad as Sup Forums had me thinking. It's not great, don't get me wrong, but I feel like if you were to tone down the quips just slightly, stick to Ultron's ant-face that was shown in the early promo art, and remove that fucking Bruce/Natasha romance horse shit, it would've been a solid movie.

But back on topic, Spader was spot on for the role. I would've liked to hear Ultron speaking with a raspier, screeching tone like say Zorak after a carton of unfiltered cigarettes, but I kinda feel like that would be a bit too campy, like he'd sound like a Goddamn power ranger villain or something.

For adult Spider-Man I always hear his voice from the 90s cartoon

I'm not sure why EMH decided to go the Skynet direction with Ultron. I like the show, but Ultron was never that in the comics.

I also hate how it made some people believe that Ultron was always this cold, emotionless robot. That's not the character.

good choice. i've been recently hearing Josh Keaton for an adult Parker and Chris Barnes from the 90s cartoon for Miguel O'Hara. my choices were very much influenced by the actors' respective performances in the game Spider-Man: Edge of Time.

I have this great concept for a Hank Pym solo. Basic premise is Hank adventures with a not so happy to be along for the ride Amadeus Cho, they solve problems with super-science in a very Doctor Who way.

The end game is when the Council of Reeds shows up and tells him someone is coming for him. See Tony never had a council for specific reasons, mostly because he's not as good at every field like Hank and Reed but also because he's self centered enough to never think about contacting another him (at least not enough for him to get a council.)

Pym has an entire different reason. The big thing with the councils in fiction are that they make up the versions of the main character who threw away what kept them grounded. The Reed Council has no fantastic four, no family. A Stark Council probably would be a bit more amoral and less about being a superhero (think his brother from Ultimates). What keeps Pym grounded though?

That's easy, his dead wife (and sometimes his current gf). Friends and family put him on the path to super heroism rather than a villain with a massive Napoleon complex. That's why there isn't a council, there's just one Hank Pym in it and he's hunting other Pyms.

Just one Hank Pym who devolved into killing anything he thought acted better than he was, just one little change and Pym is worse than twelve Ultrons

>Captain America
Sandy Becker
>Judge Dredd
Toby Longworth
>Howard The Duck
Somewhere between James Garner and Frankie Muniez, though Chip Zien from the '86 movie was incredibly close

THIS
I was thinking this from the OP. Probably has a lot to do with what sovereign says about the reapers motives being beyond mortal comprehension

Who do you guys imagine as Jay?

Well according to characters in-universe this is actually pretty close.

My fucking nigga

Fucking this, i read miguel with that voice

Bryan cranston from his malcolm in the middle days
