What is the "Pet Sounds vs Sgt Pepper" of television & film?

Ike the Spike vs. Dougie Jones

Kubrick vs. Tarkovsky

The fact that so many books still name The Beach Boys as “the greatest or most significant or most influential” rock band ever only tells you how far rock music still is from becoming a serious art. Jazz critics have long recognized that the greatest jazz musicians of all times are Duke Ellington and John Coltrane, who were not the most famous or richest or best sellers of their times, let alone of all times. Classical critics rank the highly controversial Beethoven over classical musicians who were highly popular in courts around Europe. Rock critics are still blinded by commercial success. The Beach Boys sold more than anyone else (not true, by the way), therefore they must have been the greatest. Jazz critics grow up listening to a lot of jazz music of the past, classical critics grow up listening to a lot of classical music of the past. Rock critics are often totally ignorant of the rock music of the past, they barely know the best sellers. No wonder they will think that The Beach Boys did anything worthy of being saved.

I can't even begin to imagine how terrible your taste is

No Country for Old Men and There Will Be Blood

Wasn't this pasta originally written with The Beatles?

Popular late 60 to mid 60's films that changed the landscape of what was to come afterwards?

Bonnie & Clyde, The Wild Bunch and The Graduate.

this

It's not a comparison btw. SPLHCB is a masterpiece throughout, while Pet Sounds only has God Only Knows and Wouldn't It Be Nice. Come on now.

Some sort of soft focus 70's gay porn with vaseline smeared on the lens

>Sup Forums leaking into Sup Forums

huh usually its the other way around

Holy shit kys

that's just wrong though

The only weak track of Pet Sounds is Sloop John B.

this desu but only on Sup Forums

What's wrong with SPLHCB?
Good Morning and Getting Better aren't great, but they're nice and catchy.
Fixing A Hole is the only song I can understand not liking, but everything else is simply insane.
Lovely Rita, LSD, Mr. Kite, and A Day In the Life are all masterpieces.

Besides the fact that your post shows you're an unredeemable pleb, that image is just so wrong: nobody there looks like their real counterpart, John's have no guitar and Paul isn't right handed.

Really bothered me.

Pet Sounds is shit and Sgt Pepper is the most overrated album ever

Possibly the Godfather vs. Taxi Driver, in terms of two very popular films released relatively close in time, both in English, both considered among the best of all time. I don't think there's really an equivalent though.

Alien vs The Thing

The fact that so many Americans still believe it should be illegal to marry a 12-year-old only tells you how far America still is from becoming a serious culture. The Europeans have long recognized that the greatest relationships of all times are between male adults and female adolescents, who are the most biologically fit to produce offspring, as well as the most physically attractive. Followers of the Muslim faith rank the highly controversial Aisha over all of their prophet Mohammed’s other wives, who were far past the prime age for reproduction. Americans are still blinded by puritan values. Adult females are more mentally developed than adolescents (not true, by the way), therefore they must be the greatest partners. Europeans engaged in relationships with adolescent European girls in the middle ages, radical Islamists engage in relationships with adolescent Muslim girls in the present. Americans are often totally ignorant of the virtues of relationships with adolescent girls, they barely know the biological benefits. No wonder they will think that sexual relations with 12-year-old girls should be criminalized.

this is a plebeian opinion

this, with lots cocaine, beards and body hair encrusted with sweat, cum and shit and definitely no bathing. That's what it was like in the 1970s

If you had any taste you'd know it's the opposite. Every track on Pet Sounds is a masterpiece, while the only real highlights on Sgt. Pepper are She's Leaving Home and A Day in the Life.

Sup Forums in a nutshell right here

Nothing is wrong with that album. There are more then two good songs on Pet Sounds and Pet Sounds is an overall better album.

The Wire vs. The Sopranos

Bad songs are some how even worse, and more prevalent.

Godfather vs. Taxi Driver actually makes a lot of sense (Coppola being Wilson and Scorsese being McCartney). McCartney went on to have a more consistent and stable career, but at the peak of their powers, there was no one who could quite touch Wilson.
