In the series they turned the character into a tall and muscular black man, and if that wasn't enough they even call him JAMES, all so to pair him with the white Supergirl.
They're fetishizing black males. And you can't say that they aren't, because they could have easily placed a scrawny black kid called Jimmy who's treated by everyone as a youngster, but that doesn't fit with the idea of the exotic tall and muscular manly black man who wets the white girl's panties.
