Who will play Monica Rambeau in the Captain Marvel movie?
Who will play Monica Rambeau in the Captain Marvel movie?
Rihanna for MCU Monica!
She won't be in it.
I bet she will! Monica is going to be Carol co-pilot in a fighter jet (probably a F-15).
The most important question is: Will they give her origin powers without using Mar-Vell? Are they even going to have a villain besides Moonstone and Dr.Minerva in it? Or will they finally introduce the Skrulls or Brood in the movie?
The Skrulls and Brood belong to Fox.
Perlman's a fan of Mar-Vell so he'll probably show up. The Brood are almost certainly Fox-exclusive, but Skrulls are possible.
I hope you die in a fire.
Me.
I would like to see the Kree sentry robots as the enemies.
if they confirm her before casting, you should expect fans making a conga line of every black actress you know for the role. It happens with Storm every time.
Why a two seat F15? Did Carol specifically fly strike missions?
As if Fox would ever use the Brood or Skrulls in a movie? Hell, Marvel might pull of another Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch with Skrulls.
Black Panther and the Inhumans also first appeared in the Fanatsirc Four comics, why the Skrull are linked to the F4 rights and not the Kree?
>This white bitch actually thinks people care about her.
>Brood.
Fox already owns the Xenomorphs who the Brood was copied.
It would be cool in having super-heroes fighting Xenomorph-like aliens.
It doesn't matter if they never use them, the film rights still don't belong to Marvel.
It's the MCU. Everyone has a black sidekick hero (Cap and Falcon, Ironman and Warmachine, Thor and Heimdall, Starlord and Gamora).
Even Antman has that rapper guy
Actually, according to Feige the Skrulls are in the same contractual limbo as Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch
While Marvel owns the Skrull as a race, Fox owns some characters like the Super Skrull.
Fox owns the Badoon, though
So what white guy is going to be Panther's sidekick?
>inb4 Everett Ross
>Captain Marvel: And Her Black Best Friend
>Captain Marvel: And Her Canadian Space Squad
>Captain Marvel: And The Department Of Precrime
These are gonna be the Captain Marvel movies, right?
Who will play Monica Rambeau in the Nextwave film?
>Gamora
>Black
And Doctor Strange has an asian sidecick, but I think this still fulfill the quota
I'm so glad that Marvel is doing a film with a black female lead instead of some generic blonde...
Wait... what?
Oh, dear, I was misinformed.
Good Lord. Carol is such a fucking cunt. I'm glad she suffered so much in the past.
Who here agrees with me, my fellow Marvels?!
Green is space black
Would you really need to ask a friend permission to ask their ex out? Like, what happens if you and the ex like each other, you have excellent chemistry together, but your friend says no, do you just deprive yourself of what could've been a great relationship?
You call them a cunt and ask why they're being such a cunt, and if the answer isn't "I'm still holding a torch for them" you do it anyway.
Monica, is that you? Why are you so jelly?
The Skrull rights are shared. Fox only has the exclusive rights to Super Skrulls.
Who says Monica is going to be in it? First Marvel needs to work hard on making Monica relevant. The Ultimates is a good start, but she needs her own book to prep Monica for the silver screen.
I don't. Maybe it's just you who is the cunt?
You mena (K)ike Perlmutter
Exactly! In the MCU every hero has a black sidekick, Monica is the only one fits the bill and is from the comics.
Mordo tho
if he doesnt go villain right away
kike Perlmutter has influence in the MCU ?
>she's a cunt
yes
>I'm glad she suffered
Eh, i dont really care about her.
>who here agrees with me
They really push for her, like, really hard. But she is bland and uninteresting. It's not even a race or gender thing, she is just ... there.
Storm is interesting as fuck.
Emma is interesting as well
Even Jean is, when shes not written by BENDIS
Kitty is, even when shes written by BENDIS
Carol just ... is there. She is in the Ultimates team and the nigress and the beaner are way more interesting just by virtue of not being Carol, and despite America Chavez being Mary Sue as fuck.
I agree, Carol is a blamed character, maybe a good actress can gave her personality like Mackie gave the MCU Falcon.
Maybe.
Another example, A-Force. Carol literally dissapears behind everyone else. She-Hulk and Medusa steal the leadership from her, Nico the quirkyness, Dazzler the smugness, and singularity the cute.
Whats left for Carol? Just being white, woman and there. They have to put a bunch of C-listers around her in order to shine (Alpha Flight), and even her sidekick Kamala is more popular and has more presence than her! There is just no way to win with Carol.
Carol best moment was being power raped by Rogue.
carol pls
Switch to decaf ladies.
yeah, its really bad that illuminated comics parody has a lot more personality than the real comics
Agreed
Could they use the Brood in the MCU and not be total Xenomorph-Alien rip offs?
Like said, they belong to FOX
More than Mon.
You forgot "And the Carol Corps". :^)
Nicole Perlman, she's writing with Meg LeFauve.
The suffering is why I like her so much desu
I want to protect that smile...
Also Monica was the cunt first for stealing it off a dead man she didn't even know.
>monica pretending she is popular
There is. Was, even.
It's just not very politically correct.
>Monica fans
Now now don't rub it in.
Much.
when did Carol become big? I mean in the Marvel Universe, not ours.
I have a huge gap of her from Claremonts Uncanny X-Men to Bendis Avengers.
I'm glad she still has the trench coat.
for me, it was right after Civil War. Most of the cool avengers were missing or being shit on, so Tony made his team with Carol and whoever didnt hate him at the moment, and all the big names hated him. then its a big jump to around 2010, when the Carol Corps started to idolize her, and Marvel needed a female for their trinity.
Marvel has kept the MS Marvel comic around because of some issue with the Captain Marvel name or something. It's the only comic it could go below 7k and still wouldnt be cancelled.
Hard to say, might have been Enemy Within. Some time post-Reed, pre-Kamala.
The actor that plays Gamora is black, and Dr. Strange has been shown with some black dude in released shots.
Isn't the black guy in Strange the one playing his evil rival? I can't remember the name, it's been a while since I read any Strange
...
>What is Alec Guiness in Great Expectations.
>What is literally every adaptation of The Merchant of Venice.
>What is German Cinema under the Nazis.
Gosh, it's almost like an actor isn't actually knowledgeable about things.
God fucking dammit I meant Oliver Twist.
Wait, this is Sup Forums not /lit/. I'll be fine.
Carol is shit, but c'mon. Only Sup Forums gives a shit about Monica.
Even tumblr doesn't give a shit about Monica
Idris Elba.
crap now i miss nextwave
But they give a shit about Aryan?
Seriously, there were two previous female Captain Marvels: Monica (who is black) and Phyla-Vell (who was a lesbian). Why didn't they get their own Corps?
this is what SJWs are talking about when they call out "white feminism"
Because they're shit characters.
Carol Danvers
>Anna Torv
Monica Rambeau
>Paula Patton
Probably Yon-Rogg
Wasn't even her name to begin with. Monica is bitching about nothing.
How else can the most oppressed demographic (white women) free themselves from the oppressive oppressiveness of this oppessive society. it's not like she's not a shit character who has no personality and is only a self insert for a small subset of women who's only accomplishment is throwing around the victim card like the only only reason they matter is because they need protecting. No she's clearly the most qualified even more than anyone else who was actually way more interesting and she's literally the only case of race changing for the better.
Monica needs to be the bureaucracy rep to Carol.
She'll work for the military, technically having the rank of a captain, and she'll be a former powered individual who lost her powers through plot. So her job is to bring Carol up to speed on what it's like to be a powered person in the military.
You get Carol with a huge chip on her shoulder because she doesn't like taking orders, she thinks she's better than anyone, and of course "I didn't ask for this" and monica just slaps that shit down repeatedly.
The entire project/mission will be called M.A.R.V.E.L. and in the end you find out that whatever caused Monica's power loss is also weakening her physically. Shes not sure how much time she's got left. She's been training Carol as her replacement.
The mission ends in a success, Monica retires and passes the mantle on. Monica casually mentions that there's word that doctor banner might have a treatment.
Paves the way for the sequel to have Monica come back in powered form.
No Captain marvel movie till they put her back in her correct costume.
Because they predate the wave of female fans that the movies pulled into the comic scene. Carol is the one that's around now and that's getting a movie and the one that Marvel is pushing at audiences, so she's simply the one people know about. Ain't no deeper than that.
>She'll work for the military, technically having the rank of a captain, and she'll be a former powered individual who lost her powers through plot. So her job is to bring Carol up to speed on what it's like to be a powered person in the military.
Why not use Rhodey then? He got injured after Civil War and most likely they won't be pursuing a romance with him and Carol due to the age difference.
Kinda like with Tilda Swinton as the Ancient One. If you wanted an androgynous female Anceit One, why not get an ASIAN FEMALE actress?
The fact we never got Martin Lawrence as Rick Jones is kind of too bad.
She's back for the CW2 tie-in so I'm betting it'll be Minerva.
I love that everyone from NextWave kept their look and characterization despite marvel insisting it was non canon.
What does Monica even do anymore though? I don't really keep up with these things, but I haven't seen her pop up in anything that i know of since then.
She's in Ultimates right now. Before that, she was in Mighty Avengers, which officially made NextWave canon.
She did almost nothing since Nextwave besides a couple girl power minis with other B-listers.
Then Al Ewing launched a new Mighty Avengers (later Captain America & the Mighty Avnegers) featuring her, and currently writes Ultimates, also with Monica.
Dr. Minerva is Ozymandias?
I wonder if the Ultimates is going to make it as one of the next phase movie teams.
Only if they add more white guys. Banner instead of Brashear?
eh, being able to fly seems to be a mandatory power
maybe Nova?
>Implying it won't be an F-22 or F-35
The Air Force has to use their new toys somehow.
She should be a wild weasel, using the enemy's energy against them. It's like poetry, it rhymes.
Maybe Captain Axis?
>I love that everyone from NextWave kept their look and characterization despite marvel insisting it was non canon.
But it's reverse, Ellis said that it isn't canon, but Marvel made it canon with OHOTMU and Civil War: Battle Damage Report.
"Pocket universe where Beyond tampered with their memories" was a pretty elegant solution. You know, considering.
I could buy that. Probably in addition to rather than instead of, though. They couldn't pretend to be dedicated to diversity if they replaced a black guy.
...
No but seriously I'm a Carolfag and unironically want this.
The sheer versatility of the Captain Marvel name is the best part of the series and I'm really hoping that's what they delve into with her movies. And frankly with no Brood or Superskrulls or Kang like fuck does Carol have anything of her own to stand on.
Based Ewing.
Oh god they will turn her into Carol's black bff won't they? Every Marvel hero has one except Ant-Man.
Only way she's getting in desu
Fuck Jess. Non-sexually.
