they're trying to make it seem like trump has lost so that people will think "oh he's already lost, my vote won't make the difference so there's no point going."
the voter turnout for the last USA elections was literally 57%
the election before that it was a bit higher at 64%
So basically it does not matter who has more cross party appeal or whatever. ALL YOU NEED TO DO TO WIN IS GET THE PEOPLE WHO ARE ALREADY ON YOUR SIDE TO TURN OUT

BUT we have had some (not the most or the majority) measurable impact in energising trump amongst the youth, so they're trying to get us to reduce activity and thereby reduce part of the trump campaign's energy and momentum.
