So I figured you guys would be interested, I finally got an election poll call earlier today.
Now for the longest time I've seen that the polls skewed towards demoshits and figured it was rigged, but there was a sliver of pessimism along the lines of "maybe there's just a fuck load of dems out there nowadays".
But today, I agreed to take their survey, answered very preliminary questions (all concerning demographics... white, male, age range, blah blah). When I was done answering those questions, the guy said, "Well, we have already met our quota for your demographic, so I have no further questions. Have a good day."
The implications are plain enough. They are artificially controlling the demographics of the poll; whether this is intentionally to create a skewed result or just stupidity stemming from political correctness, I don't know.
Before you speculate, I'm not under 18 or disqualified from voting in any way, shape or form.
tl;dr a polling agency called me today, but I was disqualified for being a white male because they had "met their quota"

This isn't really fishy if they're trying to align polling demographics with actual demographics. It's like trying to use a biased coin to get a fair toss. Maybe you know the trick. Toss twice and record the results. If you get HH or TT reject the result and toss twice again. If you get HT count it as heads, and if you get TH count it as tails. I think it was von Neumann who came up with it but my memory is not what it used to be on trivial details like this.
Anyway that's not necessarily shady behavior.
Unfortunately, chances are that the models they're using from the last two elections to predict who will vote this election is wrong. Pollsters should be throwing out models and polling citizens without trying to model "likely voters."
