She literally ripped it off herself.

Dunno if the comic was too subtle, but Becky was not comfortable at the church or in that dress.

In an earlier strip, Joyce wears shorts under her sundress. I think she had an alternate top on under there, too. It's not too uncommon to wear shorts under a dress. Also, I doubt Carol watched her change. That's a bit too lewd, really, watching the young lesbian you once considered almost a second daughter taking her clothes off and forcing her into your own clothing...

Right, but the entire dress is in front of her. If she ripped it, shouldn't part of the dress be *behind* her, falling to the ground? You can clearly see the back of one sleeve. Did she tear it off without damaging it?

Judging by how Willis drew the dress, you can still see the back of the top portion in panels three and four. The sleeves are also intact.

So the physics here imply that Becky only ripped the back of the bottom portion of the dress, and slipped her head and arms out their respective holes. It would appear she not only broke physics to do this, but also her elbows and wrists.

This is a pretty funny concept in a cartoon, but also a really dumb thing to do for reals.

Becky's already leaving, so maybe she doesn't care about causing drama, but also if she's already leaving, why not just leave quietly without trying to incite a scene?

I imagine the next strip is the congregation deciding who will cast the first stone at her.

Also, wasn't Carol just with Becky? It would've been nice to show that rushed, awkward parting. (It would've been nice to show any scenes with them having any sort of connection that a life long family friend relationship would imply)

Last strip said "Let's get you back to Bloomington." Are they going back to college? Is the Mom going to forget everything and give up just because they're not in town? She's not a baby, Dad, she has object permanence.
