No, you're not and no he doesn't.

Yes, he is and no, he doesn't think he does

He's right. We should regulate shoes too.

Reminder that Columbine happened during the AWB.

The shoes isn't because a failed shoe bomb. Shoes are an easy way to conceal items because souls can be thick and hide containers, and pockets can be sewn into the inside.

the liquid is because in the late 80s early 90s there was a successful middle eastern bomber who smuggled explosives on board disguised as other liquids.

Also the NTSB run a pretty tight ship and forced the FAA to meet a lot of their safety recommendations. The problem is that the FAA and the airports are shit heads who implemented them in the worst way possible.

So no, he doesn't have a good point at all.

You were never allowed to bring guns to school.

adjusting airport checks will not cause big problems to airplane companies
regulating guns will be bad for the people that sell them and these people pay for the election campaigns of politicians who oppose gun control even if kids die, then guns are good
if the people use those guns to defend themselves against corrupt politicians suddently guns are bad

What good would a gun regulation do to americans? They already have a ton of weapons, so unless this regulation is the kind that the army goes around invading people's home searching for guns, no good would come out of it.

They should instead invest in more social care about the kids, like japan does, doing home visits and asserting their mental health as well as the environment at their house.

I wish I was that simple minded.

3% of Americans own over half the nation's guns. Get a clue, Cleetus.

People on here mock Oliver because deep down they're afraid he's right.

This, IT'S CURRENT YEAR

He's right. We should also ban shoes since that's the only to prevent shoe bombs. While we're at it,we should ban violence as well since that's dangerous.

Imagine unironically using "Cletus" as an insult while misspelling it.

You can't misspell a name.

I'm not an expert on american legislation but I'm pretty sure guns aren't allowed in schools.

Case in point.

The tricky thing about this is that even if you do change the regulation of guns in any way, shootings are still gonna happen on a regular basis.
Its just a normal part of being an american where literally anyone and everyone can get a firearm, or knows someone who has one, regardless of thier criminal status or state of mental health.

This being said, its still makes me a little sad that its gotten so bad that whenever someone says "Hey, did you hear about that school shooting?" everyones first thought is "Which one?"

except it's not because nobody is saying to just ban all guns outright

Cocaine & heroin have both been illegal in every state of the US for roughly a century.
I can still buy either, as can most anyone if you're willing to look.
Hospitals all across the US deal with routine overdoses.
The US once tried to make alcohol illegal.
Instead of stopping anyone from drinking, it caused a massive crimewave, the rise of the mafia in the US, and numerous deaths due to unregulated moonshine.

Making things illegal does not magically make them disappear.
Take guns away from law-abiding Americans, and you will still have a country filled with millions of unregistered guns in the hands of criminals.
Repealing the second amendment will not work.

And how many rednecks are going on mass shootings?

We should regulate the mental health of minors

Ironically enough republicucks WANT guns to be allowed in schools

Oh boy, Mr. Anglo, please tell me more about how to run a functioning society!

yeah! punch that strawman!

Imagine being so dumb that you actually believe this. I bet people who believe that would be willing to spend tens of thousands of dollars for a liberal arts degree.

Amazing how no responded to this, the best post, but I guess to true rational to generate interest.

My high school literally let students leave their hunting rifles in their trucks in the school parking lot without issue. Limp-wristed leftist crybabies.

Well violence is banned lmao

Schools should supply students, with 4.0s and higher, firearms.

>go to school in bumfuck nowhere flyover state small town
>administration is chill as fuck about guns
>we had a sporting clays team and we all just got our shotguns out of our trunks/pickup beds and walked into school to wait for the bus
>zero incidents or accidents involving firearms

the life of a fudd is good

When do you think we'll reach the point that shitting on liberals becomes so widespread and accepted online that the contrarians of Sup Forums will swing left and start shitting on the right?

Why aren't try regulating automobiles? Especially with the recent string of attacks with them? Fucking rethuglicans

There's nothing in the Constitution about getting to wear shoes in the airport

Bin that free speech.

>no one is doing to take you guns away, we' ll just gradually do so over time
How do you not go down a slippery slope when you attempt to regulate something that is a right.

>98% white states have close to non-existant violent crimes rates but a shitload of fiscal crimes
>60% white states have a shitload of violent crimes rates and moderate fiscal crimes
It's almost as if America had a ethnic problem with baboons being allowed to buy guns.

How about we regulate Islam instead so I can keep my gun?

>b-but muh guns
Americans never fail to amuse me.

That's what they do Israel and it works fine.

Yeah man, it's not as if US schools have incredibly strict security now or anything. Guns are totally legal in US schools, and the shoe police just came by my house and confiscated my shoes.

The fuck does this have to do with Sup Forums?

Jesus Christ people are really falling so easily to this bait.
Just look at the wording in the OP and you KNOW this guy is just fishing for (You)s.

>tfw not sure if americans really take their shoes off in airplanes or if the americans in the thread have just never been in an airplane

Why do conservatives hate even the notion of gun control? It's literally the opposite of what they say; it stops criminals from getting guns and keeps them in the hands of responsible citizens.

This.

Hello op.

How's that go with drugs?

Aren't guns permitted in schools? What more does he want?

Just make people take their guns off at schools.
Problem solved.

>it stops criminals from getting guns

I'm right tho

Drugs aren't regulated. They're illegal.

but how do you shoot the shooter???

John Faggot Oliver comes from a nanny state where police don't even care guns. Seriously, what kind of emasculated culture is that?

It's actually really fucking hard to load yourself up with guns outside of US, France and other African countries even if you have criminal connections.

Posts on Facebook cause a hatred of Muslims, not like the thousands of terror attacks, the rape, Sharia law, the general shittiness of the Muslim person

So you admit it?

every single solution the democrats have offered for shit in the last 60 years has ended up causing even worse problems

Liberty University, Virginia, allows guns in dorm rooms

Ironically, they don't allow people of opposite gender to visit each other in dorms, meaning that at Liberty, you can't sleep with your girlfriend, but you can sleep with your gun.

In fact, Liberty University has many interesting rules. For instance, students can be fined for the following:

> Media with lewd content
> Immodest pool attire
> Dresses shorter than two inches above the knee
> possession of tobacco
> attendance at a dance
> participation at a gathering where alcohol is served
> consumption of alcohol
> obtaining an abortion

There wont be any because they are going to check their guns at the door.

The best part about this quote is you could just say the same about Islamic terrorism. Countless attacks yet governments refuse any real solution. Check mate Oliver.

you should break it down by state county, really. michigan isn't really a bad place although detroit and flint are violent shit holes. the white areas, where everyone is armed, are the safest parts of the state

Women are more dangerous than guns tbqh

>but you can sleep with your gun
That's pretty fucking lewd itself

Why doesn't this same logic apply to muslims when they inevitably blow people up? Or illegal immigrants when they inevitably rape and murder people?

Next time there's a terror attack in Europe go on the Al Jazeera facebook page and you'll see how 'moderate Muslims' really feel.

Fuck England.

>31 school shootings since Columbine and no change in the regulation of guns
>no change
Absolutely untrue.

popsci.com/science/article/2013-09/how-many-gun-bills-actually-pass-after-mass-shootings
>In the 12 months after the Columbine shooting, lawmakers proposed more than 800 new bills having to do with guns. Some promoted gun control—for example, beefing up background checks—while others promoted gun ownership rights—for example, protecting the rights of gun owners who cross state lines with weapons. About 10 percent of those bills passed.

aoav.org.uk/2014/columbine-1999/
>Despite rhetoric from the President supporting gun controls, the gun lobby’s influence in Colorado meant that only a few token gun control laws were passed. These included making it illegal for an adult to buy a firearm for a juvenile and the re-authorisation of a state background check programme.

But here's probably the best response from a lawmaker who was recently involved in a shooting, who was shot at and whose friend/colleague was shot:

>The Second Amendment right to bear arms is to ensure that we always have a republic. And as with any other constitutional provision in the Bill of Rights, there are adverse aspects to each of those rights that we enjoy as people. And what we just saw here is one of the bad side effects of someone not exercising those rights properly.
>We're not going to get rid of freedom of speech because some people say some really ugly things that hurt other people's feelings. We're not going to get rid of Fourth Amendment search and seizure rights because it allows some criminals to go free who should be behind bars. These rights are there to protect Americans, and while each of them has a negative aspect to them, they are fundamental to our being the greatest nation in world history.
washingtonexaminer.com/rep-mo-brooks-baseball-shooting-doesnt-change-second-amendment-view/article/2625969

why dont they just make it illegal to murder people??

remember when Detroit was a white city and Buffalo was a black city? Pepperidge Farm remembers

> greatest nation in world history
> a republic cannot exist without guns

> this is what Americans actually believe

Honestly, I wish I were that delusional

Last I checked the right to fly in an airplane wasn't protected by the constitution but my right to own a gun is.

Great nations never had weapons until the invention of guns

>like japan does

Japan also completely bans guns

>"we should just give up our freedoms because we're scared!" - you
>"Those who surrender freedom for security will not have, nor do they deserve, either one." - Benjamin Franklin

Japan also isn't filled with niggers and sand niggers

The left is fighting a losing battle here. The more they push for gun control the more potential voters they lose.

Japan is also a tiny ass island nation with fraction of our population. It's much easier to control gun movement when you don't have two massive unprotected borders.

insightful
Honestly, I don't care either way, I'd be fine living a place with lots of guns if I knew those guns where in the hands of sane, well-adjusted people with respect for what they are doing.

But if you are basing your world view off meme quotes written 200 years ago, kys

Actually there's a supreme court case called U.S. v Lopez that overturned the federal law banning guns from schools (but for reasons besides infringing on 2A rights).

>it's much easier to control guns when you don't have americans

hmmmmmmm

And who decided what "sane, well-adjusted" means?

>I don't care
whoa user so cool

To be fair, you have already given up your freedom.

>Brits
>Knowing how to into guns

>discovered electricity comes from lightning
>created the US Mail service
>strong supporter of gun rights
Ben Franklin was so based, kind of sad he never got to be a president.

Japan is a homogeneous country.

the electorate electing politicians that then attempt to implement it in accordance with the wishes of the electorate, as well as civil servants weighing in with what is legally feasible and mental health experts.

You already have regulations on gun ownership in America kinda like this, so I don't see how that is a controversial point of view.

He's retarded if that's the actual comparison he made.

Compares security check at airports to regulations that cover an entire country.

I'm just saying. The NSA6CIA have more or less killed off civil liberties and have free reign to do what they please.

Not to mention flying isn't a constitutional right unlike gun ownership

Uh it very clearly states in the preamble that all men have the right to "Life, Liberty, and to be able to board a commercial airliner without any undue inconvenience"

> muh constitution

You are aware that a constitution can be changed, right?

Kek. I'm guessing she's never seen a holster in her life. What she going to do? Pull on the gun and it won't come out then she shits bricks while the guy gives her a nice backhand to her fugly British mug.

John Oliver is a hack comedian, complaints revolving airports are in his blood

guns are already illegal at schools. this is why most shootings happen there.
