Unpopular Opinions

ITT: Unpopular opinions

Martin Scorsese is overrated.

The Wolf of Wallstreet as well as Departed sucked major ass.

Goodfellas was passable, but only cause of the shinebox memes

Taxi driver was one of the only good films he ever made

I'm just here to confirm that The Departed truly did suck and it was over rated. You cannot argue this.

He's a little overated but wolf of wall street was good and goodfellas was great. His films are always watchable.
Now if you want to talk about overated then Francis ford Coppola is the guy you want. Every movie is total dogshit. Especially apocalypse now. That movie is so fucking shit, so boring, so pointless. And that's probably his best movie. Let's not forget about fucking Jack.

all his movies seem so artificial and overacted

all his movies are comfy

>Mean Streets
>Raging Bull
>Casino
>Silence
>King Of Comedy
>After Hours
>Last Temptation Of Christ

How the fuck can you say Taxi Driver is one of the only good films he has ever made?

>Taxi Driver
>overacted

star wars is the most overrated franchise in the history of film

This is very true.

Scorsese was at his prime in the late 70s and early 80s. Mean Streets, Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, and The King of Comedy are all patrician as fuck, and he made plenty of good films afterwards, too. He's been pretty much pure shit since the 90s though, so if you only saw trash like Gangs of New York or The Departed then it's no wonder you'd be sick of him.

that's not that unpopular desu

youtube.com/watch?v=buyflmtHcHc

also Lucas can't write dialogue

Hayao Miyazaki sucks. That geezer could not tell a good story or write a character with a consistent personality even if you kidnapped his entire family and threatened to Colombian necktie them them if he didn't try his best to tell a coherent story.

This. OP simply hasn't seen any of his movies.

Even shit like Bringing out the Dead or Shutter Island are "good". Neither are amazing, but he's consistently good.

Saying Scor is bad isn't an "unpopular opinion" is just being a retard and not backing down when you're proven wrong.

Are you retarded. Name an inconsistency in the characters in castle in the sky, I literally dare you.

>Unpopular opinions

More like pleb and retarded opinions

capeshit is so fucking bad and i don't know why so many people on Sup Forums like it so much

i get that normies like these retarded movies but why fa/tv/irgins?

well not his early ones 70s-80s, but it started with Goodfellas

I actually liked Silence

>but only cause of the shinebox memes
thinking shitty forced memes make a film good. your opinions aren't unpopular, they're just shit sage

Spirited Away started out amazing but after that fucking monster that tempted people with gold to devour them ended up just being a meek little ghost who just wanted a friend, I actually ended up feeling disgusted.

>Shutter Island
>good

pretencious dogshit mate

Games Of Thrones is the best television series in decades

...

So you can't understand what's happening in a film then? That's cos your dumb.

Casino is boring as fuck. I've seen it 5 or so times and revisit it every few years but still can't recall any memorable scenes.

w-why would you watch a movie you find boring 5 times?

Most of woody Allens's work is mediocre

No user, all of it is mediocre.

>Casino is boring as fuck. I've seen it 5 or so times and revisit it every few years but still can't recall any memorable scenes.

>Name an inconsistency in the characters in castle in the sky,

Wow, you cherrypicked the one movie from ghibli that isn't total shit.
Get lost, moron.

Sometimes the reason that opinions are unpopular is because they are wrong.

well good thing the thread isn't "correct opinions" then...

unpopular opinion: popular opinions are often wrong

Wrong

an opinion is an opinion, it's beyond right or wrong pleb

Quentin Tarantino is shit and his only okayish film is Reservoir Dogs.

Okay, name an inconsistency in characters in spirited away then.

>unpopular opinions
>Scorsese is shit
more like stupid opinions

Departed was ok, TWoW is good for a laugh but not especially rewatchable. Goodfellas is kino. Taxi Driver is kino. Raging Bull is kino. The Last Temptation of Christ is kino. Silence is kino. Shutter Island is kino.

OP is retard

but The Silence truly sucked

>Every movie is total dogshit. Especially apocalypse now.
>And that's probably his best movie.

I know it's b8 but come on

>No mention of Raging Bull
>No mention of Last Temptation
>No mention of Mean Streets
>No mention of Silence
Want to know how I know you're an uninformed pleb, OP?

Oh, I understood what was happening. I just hated it.

This is one of the laziest bait threads I've seen in a while

>Kamaji is a total asshole to Chihiro when he first meets her
>Suddenly vouches for her like a grandaddy a few minutes after meeting her because reasons
>???

>Yubaba is a total cunt to Chihiro and makes it clear she won't give in to her stupid demands because she's a powerful witch/boss of everything
>Chihiro has no leverage on Yubaba
>Yubaba gives into her demands 30 seconds later because her baby cried
>???????????

>No Face established as a sociopathic cannibalistic, pedo creep who doesn't give a shit about anyone
>Eats people like the cunt he is
>When he vomits and goes back to normal, he's suddenly the nicest person in the world
>????????????????????????????

Shit writing from a dumb nip who has never interacted with real people in his life. Fuck this movie.

I love Scorsese but I didn't like Raging Bull at all

The idea of good acting in scorsese movies is just swearing

pic related is just an old white male making semi racist movies to make other racist reactionaries feel good about themselves

What's wrong with Departed? I thought it was great? Hard mode: actually answer my question instead of calling me a pleb like a dumb redditor.

forgot pic

t.cuck

The Fast And The Furious is a kino series

>Kamaji
He's actually not a total asshole to her at all, he's a bit terse but that's his character, he has a love/hate relationship with humans because humans let his river dry up and kinda fucked him but he still helps cos he's a good person/ghost who chihiro helps to rediscover himself

>Yubaba
Has no time or interest in chihiro and only concedes to her demands because kamaji lets her know that she's honor bound to give a job to anyone that asks, as long as chihiro is steadfast in asking she is required to give her a job, later chihiro earns her respect through her work.

>No face is a representation of how the loose morals of the bath house warps the minds of its guests. He is a good soul that is corrupted by the gambling and sex and general immorality of place he's in. Like a drug addict he falls prey to the charms of the bath house. He recovers from this when chihiro leads him away.

So what's inconsistent about any of that?

Charlie M? Your head in a vice, for CHARLIE FUCKING M?

>because humans let his river dry up and kinda fucked him
Never explained in the movie. Get out.

>only concedes to her demands because kamaji lets her know
He never spoke with her.
He never shared a scene with her.
He never even looked at the crazy bitch.
Stop excusing this shitty screenwriting, cuck. Yubaba literally gave chihiro the job because her baby cried. Watch the fucking scene again and stop being stupid.

>>No face is a representation of how the loose morals of the bath house warps the minds of its guests. He is a good soul that is corrupted by the gambling and sex and general immorality of place he's in. Like a drug addict he falls prey to the charms of the bath house. He recovers from this when chihiro leads him away.
You are waxing philosophical without saying anything of substance.
Stop intellectualizing this nonsense. No Face is just a walking plot device and a terrible character.
So he's a symbol? Fine then.
Talk about his merits as a character, because he's one of the worst characters I've seen.

Die Hard 3 > 1 > 4 > 2
Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull is a decent followup
As was Pirates 4
None of Nolan's batman films are good. In fact, his only good film is the Prestige. Memento is just okay

The Star Wars prequels were actually good, episode 3 was kino and I do mean that unironically

I agree with all of this, though

Pre 80s movies all sucks

Superhero movies are the new westerns, except that they don't suck, like westerns

Zack Snyder and Michael Bay are great filmmakers

Prometheus is better than Alien

Never explained in the movie? Have you seen the movie? Same with the job thing, it is clearly explained in the movie. Kamaji tells chihiro that's she's bound to give anyone a job who asks. You're either deliberately being ignorant or you're too stupid to follow what's happening.
Also no face is symbolic, I'm sorry that's too complicated for you to understand. Maybe just watch Michael bay movies from now on. I think you will be able to follow them.

damn...

>Kamaji tells chihiro that's she's bound to give anyone a job who asks.
You in the last post:
Yubaba and Kamaji had an in-depth conversation and he told her to give the job to chihiro (a scene that never happened)

KYS, you lying idiot.

CINEMA BTFO

I'll admit that I could have made that a little clearer but common sense should tell you that I was referring to chihiro. Kamaji told chihiro. That's what I've been trying to say.
Now that you understand that can you understand how yubabas behaviour was not inconsistent?

I really don't understand why Sup Forums praises Man of Steel and Batman v Superman as much as they do, they're painfully mediocre.

James Cameron hasn't made a good film since True Lies.

Person of Interest is my favorite TV show.

12 Angry Men, Forbidden Planet and Paris, Texas are my favorite movies.

Sup Forums hasn't been good in years, I hardly lurk threads here unless they interest me.

...

The Departed is his most poorly made movie. The Wolf of Wall Street was good.
Bringing Out the Dead is really underrated.
Raging Bull is his masterpiece.

The Superman praise is a meme, and your top 3 is great. I love Forbidden Planet.

I hated the Departed and Wolf of Wall Street literally has the same scheme depicted in the "Stocks and Bonds" episode of Leave it to Beaver.

i actually enjoyed his reviews and thought he was an excellent critic, still sad he had to go

The late 70s and early 80s were the worst time for film.

I think he's good but some of his movies are really overrated. Mostly The Departed.

first person I've disagreed with in this thread and I hope you die of eyeball cancer

could not agree more

Bump.

Jackie Brown, considered as one of Tarantino's best movies, is an absolute borefest. Tarantino's major flaw of not being able to wrap a story up and keep it interesting is reeking through Jackie Brown.

>I really don't understand why Sup Forums praises Man of Steel and Batman v Superman as much as they do, they're painfully mediocre.
same reason Sup Forums praises hiphop. people are just retarded and will even call you pretentious for not liking the dumpster juice they consider to be "art"

House of the Rising Sun montage and Pesci's death are two of the most memorable scenes in recent cinematic history.

>considered as one of Tarantino's best movies
That's only on Sup Forums.

>Taxi Driver
>overacted
pick both newfriend
