Much of Ethiopia was in revolt against Emperor Tewodros II

As a final attempt to recover his standing, Tewodros wrote to the major powers for help.

Tewodros sent letters to the Russian Empire, Prussia, the Austrian Empire, French Empire and the British Empire.
