BOOKS

Post books you wish could be made into movies / tv shows. Also post director / cast if you want.

Each episode would be self-sufficient and focus on a different side of the Culture novels.

this book is overrated garbage

...

...

Done like GOT where a book last roughly a season

>philip k.
stopped reading there

Just watch End of the Tour, OP. It's much keener insight into DFW's intent in writing it.

The book is far too big and Wallace's use of complex language only serves to make him seem smarter

t. harold bloom

Simply epic my good sir, you certainly showed me!

dick's books are ubiquitous trash. dadoes and scanner got outdone by fucking movies.

...

The book is better than the film.
Care to explain why you think he's so bad?

Not a movie, but I feel a good HBO miniseries would do each justice, with each episode chronicling a chapter or 2

because he was a paranoid schizophrenic and high most of the time

Soon

not the other user youre tlaking to but i liked the movie a lot as well

>jason segel as dfw
no

Both of those things heavily informed his writing but that's not an actual criticism.
Oh don't get me wrong I really liked the movie too, but I always thought it struggled to move away from a mildly goofy tone even when it was trying to be serious, which is a problem the book didn't have

Pic related would make a fantastic found footage mocunentary similar to Troll Hunter or the likes. The way the story is written is essentially a written form of a mocunentary. As well, it would be a good way to explain away the exposition that takes up a majority of the books.

>inb4 Bloodborne fags derail the thread about how they've already lived through the perfect Lovecraft adaptation or whatever

having an iq of 75 would heavily inform your writing, by making it terrible. it is a criticism.

Gimmie a super stylized Mistborn by the Wachowski's

he was good doe

Sure, but being high, paranoid or schizophrenic didn't inform it in the same way having an IQ of 75 would have. You're comparing things that can only be compared in a very general way. You may not like his writing but it's hardly terrible. Granted some of his books do devolve into nearly incoherent messes at points but he also tackles some interesting themes in a pretty good manner

What are your favourite books, kid? If you think that Dick's writing is good then you can't be well-read, faggot.

This would make a pretty good TV series

This x100

Him being a drug addict and mentally ill informed his writing in that it led him to write about perception and consciousness and the alteration of ones reality that can be caused by drugs or mental illness. That's hardly comparable to being a retard, which would just make the writing shit

"Remembrance of Earth's Past" trilogy by Liu Cixin

>Personally attacking the person you disagree with, rather than providing evidence to refute their point
Have you given up?

If they weren't already doing westworld they could but Westworld has parts of it that are literally just Blood Meridian without any of the really harrowing stuff

>Sup Forums not only have an awful taste for films, but also have a disgusting taste for literature

Wtf happened to this place

What are your favourite books, faggot?

I think it might be too much, even for HBO.
I don't even know if I'd want any concrete visual interpretation.

Isn't that the series super objectivist?

The Brothers Karamazov, TV series.

Didn't the author commit suicide when he realised how much of a talentless hack he was and how worthless his books were?

If I say what my favorite books are (even if I lie), you'll just find some problem with them regardless.
Even if my top ten favorite books were an exact match of your top ten, you'd probably call me a faggot anyway because you don't really care about discourse and probably hate yourself.

Daemonslayer would work well as a film but the whole collection of novels would work better as a tv series.

...

THIS

This, the guy just sounds like a vicious bitter failure

Book of the new sun.
I can't imagine how it would work and it would definitely need the right director though. I would be too worried about them turning it into a game of thrones tier shit show though

Infinite Jest is a chore to get through. Why do people like it?

...

BTFO

and now look at it. Sup Forums is literally just a rule 34 board. fuck i hate being an oldfag

...

the tunnel would be amazing directed by Malick

its been a while since i've seen someone get BTFO this badly. gj user

I will never not laugh at the greatly deserved ridicule of this hack fraud. Why bother reading someone who couldn't even live with himself? The only sincere act in the life of David Foster Wallace was when he kicked away the chair. The rest of his life was a lie, the New "Sincerity" was a joke whose punchline was the creaking of a leather belt around the rafter. His literary career was nothing but a menagerie of self-help lies told to keep his depression at bay - the audience pussy and drugs were the ghosts at that feast of hypocrisy. At the end of the day the depression was warranted because behind all the self awareness, the gimmicks and the bandannas was no discernible talent.

this

>CAN AN EVIL THAT HAS RULED FOR ONE THOUSAND YEARS BE DEFEATED?
>EVIL HAS BEEN DEFEATED.
kek

...

Really The Grapes of Wrath? Who would Direct it though?

ajax and crew stomping meat

...

very surprised this series was never adapted into a film series nor tv series

John Ford

...

...

>its a tortilla eating episode

jr would be great

As long as the girl was black and the boy was gay.

Somethings are better left untouched by (((them)))

...

good point

...

...

This book is so graphic I don't even know if they could do it justice in a TV version

...

this shit NEEDS an adaptation

what

thats a work of pure art

this would make a good tv series desu

Flow My Tears, the Policemen Said would be great for TV. Can't wait for it to be butchered into a single hour for the new Amazon series!

White Chappel, Scarket Tracings by Iain Sinclair would be great as a BBC mini series or something like that. Suprised by the lack of late century modernist-like novels being adapted for TV seeing as how so many of them seem to have similar narrative structures to big name TV shows.

Also I've always wanted to see Galapagos by Kurt Vonnegut adapted for the screen by some stylish director, along the lines of a Wes Anderson affair with less daddy issues.

Oh fug. One of those books I have not thought about since I read them multiple times as a kid.

It's gettin a tom hanks movie or some'n right?

>tom hanks
DROPPED

I liked End of the Tour and interviews of his that I watched so I tried to read Infinite Jest and couldn't make it one page. Consider the Lobster is great though.

Maybe someone could make a movie about going to a porn convention based on Big Red Son

Who would play The Judge?

I don't want it ruined.

*Blocks your path*

>dick's books are ubiquitous trash
>ubiquitous
I see what you did there.

I think Gravitys Rainbow could only work if it was an animated series interspersed with some live action

>inherent vice
>great gatsby
>grapes of wrath

lad

>Why bother reading someone who couldn't even live with himself?
what does that have to do with anything? are you saying mrs dalloway isn't worth reading

>Post books you wish could be made into movies
None of them. If you see the film adaptation first, it ruins the book. If you read the book first, it ruins the film adaptation.

Leave this book alone. Only Kubrick could do it.

nicebait.jpg

In case it isn't, he admitted that he desired recognition and attention, and the language might be an attempt at that. But it's also not something that ruins the book. Go back to watching capeshit if you can't be bothered to learn new words while reading a book.

The first chapter is so good though? Aren't you interested in what the situation is, in what is going on?
The second or third chapter is a really difficult read, but after that it's all manageable
