So many people I served with failed to understand that they did not sign up to serve a candidate or a government. You enlisted to serve a nation and defend the ideals of that nation. While Turkey is a shit show, our military should strive to be more like them in that they served the interest of a secular nation and attempted to shut down an Islamist government.

When the ideals of the government run contrary to the founding principles of a nation, it is the military's job to stand up in defense of these founding principles.
