Superman is often seen as a boy scout, but what have been the best canon moments where he essentially spat in the government's face?

Pretty sure that's S.T.A.R. Labs, dude. I don't think Superman has ever defied the government. That's kind of his one character flaw. He wouldn't overrule an authority figure.

No, it was the government, read the comic.

Superman will overrule anything if he thinks they're being retarded.

Not really, no. He's pretty non-interventionalist.

How would he react if faced with a situation like registry, like in Civil War?
The government actively demanding control over him?

Superbro always told the government to shove it.

almost none of the DC superheroes would agree to registration. certainly not any of the Justice League. I'm actually having a hard time thinking of any who would be pro-registration, with the obvious exception of Captain Atom.

They would put WW on that side for sure. Hack writers love pulling that sort of shit with her.

He just broke that guy's nose with the world's slowest headbutt, didn't he?

The already dealt with this in the Golden Ages and the New Frontier (to a lesser extent) and several other places (before Watchman was even an idea in Moore's head), DC had several things were the Masked Men or vigilantes were asked to register, in some cases as part of the McCarthy thing, in other cases for other reasons, and it's the in-universe explanation for why the JSA disappeared for a while - because they refused to pledge allegiance to the government and reveal their identities, so they chose to retire.

In New Frontier, they showed Superman as being one of only two DC superheroes who agreed to cooperate with the government (Wonder Woman being the other one); of course, they don't wear masks and in this universe/elseworld, Diana is just the princess and an agent/ambassador of Themyscira; and Superman is just Superman, he's not revealed as Clark Kent (in fact, the entire run doesn't actually show him at all as Clark, even though Jimmy and Lois both appear). It's also shown that he helped Batman evade the registration/governmental doctrine, etc. Personally, I found some of the characterizations OOC, but I took wholly as a non-canon to the then current or even the comics of the Silver Ages.

>WHERE IS HE

Poor Sarge Steel. Wish they could've gotten somebody else to be the poor schmuck that got on the receiving end of Supe's anger.

He did in Secret Identity, albiet that was an elseworld.

Superman wouldn't agree, though even if he did, Batman would surely persuade him otherwise.

Even in New Frontier, Superman did cooperate, but he wasn't on a payroll, nor at the government's beck and call. He still called his own shots.

Well there is the best one.

Why is Superman being so angry and mean? This isn't Superman. What's this? DCEU autistic Superman?

Is this bait or did you not read pre-crisis Superman.

Not a superhero but constantine would certainly be in favor of it.

He wouldent go out of his way to push for it he has no reason to but if asked for his opinion or he somehow had the power to make that decision he would go with it.

Well, I think WW would do it anyway, because she has no secret identity. I think Supes would be torn between losing his human anonymity and his constant fear that his powers might do out of control. In the end, I believe he would register. Depending on the GL, they may or may not register (Hal, probably; Kyle, nope; John, maybe; Guy, hell no). Batman obviously wouldn't register and Martian Manhunter would probably join him for the reason Supes didn't, to keep anonymity. Flash would be the real surprise, here, especially if it's Barry.

Superman is never this way. He would always solve things by being approachable and charming. This isn't Superman.

It is no secret that the government would love to have a Kryptonian child to raise and mold to their liking, and Supes was having none of that shit.

Project Superman showed what the government would do to a Kryptonian child, and they didn't even know what they had on their hands at first. Imagine what they would have done to Chris, knowing Superman's abilities.

Superman did nothing wrong.

>Why is Superman being so angry and mean?
He left an innocent frightened child with people that he thought would take care of him. Said people smuggled the child away in the night to perform experiments on him. He has every reason to be angry with them.

Superman was literally conceived as a hero for the working class.

This is why I hate TDKR so much, it's helped cement Superman's image as this "boy scout" when in reality he only obeys the government so long as they're working towards the same goal.

He'll try to stay out of their way to avoid political problems, but if they're doing something he finds immoral he will stop them every time.

Even post-Crisis Superman can get angry. That was like the entire point of retooling him in the 80's, to get rid of that stupid "squeaky clean" image.

Try reading something other than All-Star Superman in your life.

It's bait. You idiots are responding to bait.

>Not a superhero but constantine would certainly be in favor of it.
Constantine is essentially an anarcho-leftist, he hates capes but he hates the government more.

>Flash would be the real surprise, here, especially if it's Barry.
Flash (Barry) wouldn't he has always pushed for anonymity in order to protect those he loves. He wouldn't risk putting Iris in danger.

Similarly Wally did expose himself and Zoom used it to kill his kids. He got the spectre to mind wipe the whole world in order to get his secret identity back, he sure as shit wouldn't register.

Aquaman would, he would want to forge strong government relations.

>To put it another way, there's a scene from a few years ago where he's talking to another younger Kryptonian about their super senses and the kid goes into the stuff Snyder does. He goes "How can you deal with all the screaming and hate and bad things in your senses"? and Clark sits the kid down and goes "By listening for the good parts; for mothers meeting their newborns for the first time, for a guy playing fetch with his dog, for people exchanging wedding vows." THAT is who Clark is

For the love of god can anyone ID what story this is from?
