Respect to Kenny Dope. But let's forget that Will Smith's post Jazzy Jeff career was a thing.
>that track and Getting Jiggy With It was ghostwritten by Nas
there's a big funk comeback happening for some years now and you can still find kick ass disco
youtube.com
yeah we had Pulsations
France is still funky, respect
one of the finest french funk units came back from a decade long hiatus in 2015 and performs from time to time
they releast a great new album last november and had the release gig two days ago, it was fantastic
it's the only video I found but they steamrolled for 3 hours
I've heard their music played on FIP before. Will be nice if they air a live show of them sometime.
also yeah, Australia is funky
are you french ? if not, I didn't know at all philippines people were into FIP or french funk, nice !
I saw them three times and each one was one hell of an experience
they're absolutely cool people, ended smoking joints and drinking beers with them at a till dawn aftershow party they made
been flipping this one non stop since I got it

Polish G-funk also existed

hey, this is some good shit (the first one) ! I was well aware of the thriving polish jazz scene, but I think it's the first time someone shows me some pole funk !
I am American, I have been obsessed with funk and soul music in general since I was younger. I am interested in what happened in every country in the late 60s through the 70s musically. I think every country where records were made came out with some funky music.
I really enjoy FIP, I think it's the best radio station in the world. I am constantly hearing music I would have never known about if I didn't hear it on there. They also surprise me by playing really obscure things that I know and wouldn't expect others to. Like for instance I heard Japanese and Korean records I liked from YouTube played on there.
holy shit thanks brah that was amazing.
yeah they have a very broad array of music aired
it's my radio station of choice when leaving work late and coming back home by car
and you're right about 60s/70s, it's an endless pit of records and even where people couldn't get them released they made private presses and stuff
you's welcome !
fuck, wrong link
yeah, Łąki Łan is truly one of a kind. they are more electronic now, but still good. Their shows are awesome too.

this is from their newest album, performed live at our version of Woodstock.
There's also a bunch of underground bands in my city which fuse funk rock with various other styles, but I don't think any of these released a record so far
If you have a list of bands or musicians worth listening to it would be much appreciated.
oh wait, it wasn't woodstock, never mind
I have lists of my 10 favorite releases from the 2 or 3 past years if that's what you mean
if it's in a more broad sense, I think funk is all about exploring yourself beyond the essential lists you can find anywhere
I'll get their albums and listen to them !
Great thread, leaving some French funk before it dies off
hell yeah
cheers. Your ones are interesting too, I gotta explore more French music, I only know Daft Punk, Justice and Air desu
1975 was a hell of a year
Malka Family and Juan Rozoff are the local Funkadelic and Prince, but there are a lot of bands funking around
>tfw born too late to get ridiculously coked up in clubs in the 80s listening to classic funk tunes
if I can do it, you canprobably do it too
just find the place
France IS funky

le gros Serge claquait la funk avant d'être remixé
jsais bien kho, un petit mix amateur avant que je décolle

nice shit, but why is it on Troutman's account ?
fuck, I love synths going apeshit
Troutman has been dead since YouTube existed so maybe it's just a fan.
why not
bumping with a timeless classic before going out to get beers
really nice
where were you in 1979?

I think we are, here's a specimen from the arctic circle:
funk has seen a remarkable come-back during the last couple years. there are funk parties going on all over the place, there are radio shows concentrated on funk and if all goes well soon the local music awards will feature a funk category sine there's loads of young people getting into funk.
