Yes. If the soviet union hadn't been strangled successfully by the US we wouldn't even be having this discussion, the problems they had are NOW considered to have caused their downfall, in the same way that if the US gets destroyed in the next decade we'll all talk about how it was an inevitable result of our problems.
"Communism doesn't work" is a propaganda line you never heard before 1992, before we killed them it was all about how powerful and evil they were. And as soon as China overtakes us- assuming they implement Xi Jinping Thought- we'll start talking again about how it's strong and evil instead of doomed and weak.
Leaving aside Cuba of course, who have resisted to this day despite not being big enough for economic autarchy.
Communism has another good shot soon as the US- the militant vangaurd of global capital- declines a bit more.
