What are some interesting creatures from myth and legend that have received very little love in film?

I think the Hidebehind would be the perfect candidate for a film. It's a mythical creature from lumberjacks tales that had the ability to to contort it's body so that it could hide behind even the skinniest trees. One was not able to catch more than a mere glimpse of the creature as it would always manage to hide behind trees or even the prey it was stalking, always keeping out of sight until an ambushing opportunity was found.

It would be the perfect thing to make use of those horror scenes where something quickly and unexpectedly moves in the corner of your eye. You could establish so many low-suspense shots where the thing would just move in the distance, completely unexpected and make viewers question if they saw it or not.

That's just a dog standing up

Why have they never made anything about dragons? They could look great with the cgi we have now

That's just a dog standing up

It's one artists interpretation, the Hidebehind is never given a physical description beyond claims that despite its abilities it's a fairly large creature.

The creature exclusively feeds on the intestines of its prey. Lumberjacks claimed it hated alcohol and that drinking it would deter the creature.

What if there's someone on both sides of the tree?

The BĂȘte du GĂ©vaudan.

that's the most stupid monster ever
just walk around the tree nigga what the fuck

The wendigo

fpbp

Dragons are gay as all shit.

Check Brotherhood of The Wolf

Kelpies, ondines, Melusinde...

This was pretty kino

I've always thought the Jersey Devil was badass looking. I think it got some terrible Sci-fi channel movie but nothing of actual value yet.

>Why have they never made anything about dragons?
Ummm, user...

There's a 3 hour long big budget fantasy epic dedicated to this alone. All things considered, I think the Gevaudan Beast is just fine.

The pine barrens was ok but kinda weird

Don't know if it would technically be considered a mythical creature but I think the "self transforming machine elves" are interesting. Metaphysical alien entities that can only be seen while on strong hallucinogens would make a cool movie. The closest thing to that ive seen is probably From Beyond or the ending of 2001 Space Odyssey

It hides behind another tree.

Likely story

>An Armored Lion
>Proper representation

A shiggy diggy

I've always wanted a movie about Alistair Crowley that showed all the crazy shit he claimed to have done and seen as if it were 100% real.

What about that same premise, but with that kid who killed his Couch because he thought he was a muppet Alien?

>Killed his Couch
Coach*

There is no way you can make a winged kangaroo scary.

Ducking this. Ravenous had so much potential, but fell short. Could you imagine a film with the production value of Revenant following some northern hunters being followed by the Wendigo or something around those lines? Shit would be KINO

Is the Wendigo in Ravenous like the cannibal lich of myth or is it an ape creature like modern interpretations?

A crazy weirdo sitting down to summon an extra dimensional demon just to draw it's portrait would be kino

Do you have a name or something? I'd like to read up on this guy

Kyle Odom, he shot a pastor because he believed Israel and the US government was entirely composed of reptilian Muppet aliens that used humans as breeding stock.

Honestly, Sasquatch.

It could be done without seeming silly

It's more of a spiritual thing that infests hosts who turn to cannibalism. More of an omniscient being than its traditionally told

>his manifesto begins with "As you can see, I'm pretty smart. I'm also 100% sane and 0% crazy. "

Lol

Wasn't there some weird bigfoot movie where the creature had a massive mouth with an un-hingable jaw?

I would like a quality and haunting film depicting mermaids or at least the origin of the myth

Yeah, Abominable
It's on YouTube

That Bobcat Goldwaith movie is probably the best you can get. Would have been better if they actually showed it though

from his wikipedia
>was a bi-sexual, drug user, and social critic
sounds like a person who frequents Sup Forums, tbqh family

Crowley would have loved dickgirls honestly

...

Bone Tomahawk is kinda like movie about legendary monsters that turn out to be real

>Not Yankee Stadium
This triggers my autism

That's just one illustration, there's plenty of much more scarier images of it everywhere.

Post em. I can't see anything scary in a retarded flying donkey

Legend of Boggy Creek? Haven't actually seen it but the poster's cool.

Bruh, this is an image board.

Well sorry, newfag here so linking them was the only way i knew how, plus i though it'll show them rather than the links.

This motherfucker.

How fucking stupid do u have to be to not figure how to post pics on Sup Forums

Not stupid, just a newbie that doesn't spend much time on Sup Forums.

>movie about the Dyatlov Pass incident
>movie about those aliens in Kentucky that Speilberg made but halfway through it decieded to male it Poltergiest instead
>movie about whatever the fuck is disappearing people in the USA's national parks
>give a bunch of /k/ommandos go pros and drop them in Pripyat for the lulz

>>movie about the Dyatlov Pass incident
Literally nothing of interest happened here.
Some hikers were caught in an avalanche.

This. They share the whole "you can never catch a glimpse of them" but also have the whole cursed-to-be-a-monster thing which I think could be used nicely.

Ravenous, while a good movie that I really love for the soundtrack, just didn't do the Wendigo part well enough. I want a hairy monster stalking a group of hunters or lumberjacks in a remote logging camp during the onset of winter dammit. The one with that guy with the teeth who cooked eggs on LOST was a goddamn travesty.

Also related: Tailypo. The Tailypo story would probably make a good horror-movie by just adapting the story straight.

That's some Lovecraft shit.
It's Karl Pilkington!

The USSR fell, you can stop covering it up Borris

I remember a movie that I think was about it, where it was just a serial killer. I just remember the scene where he gave a girl a songbird as a present, where he'd stuck twigs in the eyes of the songbird so it wouldn't fly away. I thought it was some edgy shit done by a serial killer but then later I read of it actually being done in that time period.

Anyone know what movie I'm talking about?

>Not stupid, just a newbie that doesn't spend much time on Sup Forums.
Fucking newfag, enjoy your stay. Thanks for being self-aware.

A movie franchise in The Order universe, like seriously, that game should've just been a movie franchise or even tv series, then it wouldn't be so time consuming to make and be done better than the amazing looking but still crappy QTE game that it was.

>movie about whatever the fuck is disappearing people in the USA's national parks

Serial killers and nature?

Spend some time here instead friendo

>nothing strange happened at Dyatlov Pass

I just read about the expedition he went on to climb a mountain. What an asshole.

OH MY GOD IT'S A... Cross?

I'm sure the ants are now convinced.

What is that?

A scar

I love when someone does that
One of the best type of bait

The Popelick monster would make a good psychological horror film.

It's a cryptid described as a demonic goat man that lives under a trestle bridge over Popelick Creek Louisville Kentucky. It has the power of hypnotizing or tricking people into going on the trestle only to die by falling off or getting hit by an oncoming train. For some reason people who hear the myth always believe the trestle is abandoned and paranormal investigators try to enter it.

Basically, the legend of the creature is what sustains it. You go there trying to find it but then a train comes or you fall off the track because you're really just a dipshit who thought it was abandoned and inhabited by a goat monster.

In order to make it work as a film you'd simply have to make the self-fulfilling myth more convincing and drop implications that that creature exists while playing other mind games by trying to convince the audience and the caste that the location is abandoned.

I do it on Sup Forums, just randomly circle a player stat and post "lol" and watch them rage for 200 posts

But then so would he, and hes better at it than you

>Lumberjacks claimed it haded alcohol and that drinking it would deter the creature
"Honey, you don't understand. I don't have a drinking problem, I just want to make sure the Hidebehind doesn't get me!"

noice

That's a lot like the murder mystery Umineko.

Fuck off weeb

>believed
Knew

Really rocks my parties

what about the Footraper

Reign of Fire
Dragon post-apocalypse

...

Not really.

I kept thinking she would impale her hoohoo on that thing at some point

I have a very strong feeling that this movie is French

it's how a tarantino directed porn movie would look like

>white woman getting raped by a daek skinned sub human

Dont know about French but its 100% Yuro film

rip

rip what?

kek

his actor has terminal late stage pancreatic cancer

>furry footfag

Truly can't go any lower.

That sucks

Oh god. I need to post that on /tg/ now

>Kate McKinnon the pre-SNL years

All those tales from Amerindians you'll never hear about.

10/10 would hug

Twin Peaks?

That would be fucking terrifying as a psychological thriller/mystery
