Fill me in on this, OP. Is it the same canon as Thomas Jane's? Or just another adaptation of the novella?

Do creatures get decent screentime?
Are effects practical or CGI?

Is it spooky at all or just cheap forced melodrama like that Walking Dead spinoff

>just cheap forced melodrama like that Walking Dead spinoff

yes

Wew

>Is it the same canon as Thomas Jane's?

No.

>Or just another adaptation of the novella?

It uses the name for publicity value, but has nothing to do with either the novel or the film.

...

>yfw the mist represents the evil white male patriarchy

It's so fucking stupid. There have been no monsters so far, it's just been tiny bugs eating people from the inside out, like, twice.

There's supposed to be barely visible big creatures from another world! It's supposed to be one ecosystem colliding with a much bigger and scarier one!

Instead it's just... bugs are evil, kinda.

I'm pissed. I'll give it a couple more episodes.

I honestly like it, it feels like the bugs are the precursor to the big things.

That being said, the characters are horrible except for the black amnesia guy.

OP you silly shit.

The movie was terrible. It had a great world and premise, but sticking around in the fucking store with the bullshit dramafest was fucking horrible. The movie should have left them and followed that mother who went out into the mist to find her children. You know, the mother who was on the military truck at the end of the movie with her children. She obviously did some top tier Ripley action to get to that point. Hell, part of it was an escort mission to boot.

That's an interesting way to look at it. I guess the reason I don't like the bug plot device is that it makes it feel like our ecosystem is transforming, instead of introducing a new, more eldritch/alien one.

Honestly, either way could work.

Also I agree, I'm enjoying the black guy, even though "main character has amnesia" has been done to death a million times.

I think Jay is also an interesting character. They could have easily painted him as a shallow douche but it seems there's more going on with him. Did he rape her? Did he not? I've been enjoying that aspect too.

You know those shitty "sci-fi" movies where there's a body swap or people are possessed by something? Well, they do that to save money. Most sci-fi shit shows/horror shows are more about not showing you shit. However, some things like the first Alien movie, that is a good thing because it makes it better. However, that's really fucking rare since most of this shit is just shit.

in a rape fight, who would win?

Then it would have been generic monsterfest #139361.

The whole movie taking place in that one location and the way the community fell apart was fantastic. The monsters would have lost their intrigue if we saw a bunch of them out in the mist all the time.

I don't know who the character on the right is.

of course carol would survive

>Then it would have been generic monsterfest #139361.

And better than what we got.

>The whole movie taking place in that one location and the way the community fell apart was fantastic.

It was extremely unrealistic and predictable as always. Real people don't act like that.

>The monsters would have lost their intrigue if we saw a bunch of them out in the mist all the time.

That doesn't need to change though. They still fought a shit load of monsters hand to hand.

I totally agree with you on the note of keeping the audience in the dark.

However the guy turning into a moth man was the opposite of that. Seriously, if they had just shown a large looming shadow far out in the mist then I would've been sold, at least for a bit.

Instead they chose to do a shitty CGI effect that goes against the idea of eldritch horror.

Well I actually like the transformation of houses into spider nests desu. It was pretty neat.

I guess well have to find out. The CGI is going to be make or break in any case. If theyre smart, theyll just show silhouettes.

Not necessarily, but the main character acted the way I would act, at the very least. Among a bunch of people doing idiotic, irrational things, the main character stayed rational and almost always acted in the way I as a watcher would like to think I would act in that situation.

That's why when he makes a mistake or fucks something up in any way it hits me extra hard. Because I would have done the same thing.

I think that's what keeps the movie from being predictable, like you said.

Of course, that's not to say that the movie is a cinematic treasure. It's still a silly monster flick, but not nearly as bad as you say.

Thankfully, I'm not going to watch the show. I'm allergic now to social propaganda being shoved down my throat.

Have you seen this,

youtube.com/watch?v=pd5gWGfnK5M

What social propoganda?

Rape is bad? People with superiority complexes can be a danger to others?

What are you talking about?

There's really no need to go into it. You've apparently missed all the threads on Sup Forums about it.

Well, if you don't want to explain that's fine. I'm guessing it was a joke.

No, I don't frequent this board.

>I'm guessing it was a joke.

I wish that were true.

This has to be one of the worst shows I've seen this year, 3 episodes in and nothing remotely interesting has happened. This shit better pick up the pace by episode 5, or I'm done. This makes me want to watch the movie again instead.

It is.

This show is some lovecraftian kino

>3 episodes

what, where

this is a very primitive form of "read the sticky"

this show is by far the worst shit ive seen in a long time.

>horrible production
>horrible cast
>horrible dialogues
>random rape plot (im not minding the theme of it, I just ask why it gets stuffed into a show about A FUCKING MIST KILLING PEOPLE)
>literally every character is a walking cliche

i dont mind that there will be no 'physical' monsters or something but why is it impossible to have a show that actually keeps its focus on its main premise and doesnt get lost in social conflicts and 'muh people are the real evil' shit that has been done 10^6 times in shows across every genre.

Got to admit that the movie ending was god tier

the mist was always social commentary and a look at humanity as a whole, why would this be any different even if it's done poorly?

The only character that doesn't seem to be a walking cliche is the Jay kid. We'll see, though.

who cares. its an overused theme. get rid of it.

How do you think animals like wolves or deer are handling the mist?

A moose?!? We waited all week for a fucking moose?

They had the rapist football captain defend the transpansexual guy to show that he was "safe." The message? Any guy can be a rapist. Google MIST STEUBENVILLE RAPE. Think about those results next time a liberal denies leftwing bias in media and accuses you of being a reverse-sjw. Even the creators of this stuff admit it's there. ALSO NO MUNSTERS LOL
