Edgar Wright's entire career was a mistake.

these were all the problems i had with the movie as well, but i nevertheless enjoyed it. i found the movie to be fun.

i also disliked how he tried to make the MC a really cool dude and get us on board with all the old tunes, cashing in on Guardians and stuff... i know exactly what he was going for, and he failed imo. but it was still an enjoyable movie, i think.

>>Baby is literally Driver ™ but with less autism
You know that the Driver wasn't a very original character, right? Both Refn and Wright took a ton of inspiration from old getaway driver films.
>>Handsome Mad Men Man becomes Heel in the last 15 min for no reason
He becomes a heel because Baby fucking up the getaway lead to the death of his wife. How do you not understand this? Are you mentally retarded?
>>"""""""" hot """""""" chick dies for no reason
I repeat, are you mentally retarded? Her death gives Mad Men Man motive to kill Baby.
>>Jamie foxx hates baby for no reason
He was a psychopath who was annoyed by Baby's autism.
>>diner chick is on baby's dick for no reason
He's young, good looking and has charisma. Tons of women would fall for Baby.
>>Kevin Spacey literally changes from heel to good guy for no fucking reason / gives baby tapes just because he likes to see a relationship work?
Okay, I'll admit that Spacey's turn was a bit odd but it didn't ruin the film.

Most of your criticisms are minor nitpicks.

The Cornetto trilogy is fantastic, Baby Driver is great, and Scott Pilgrim vs. the World is pretty good. Fuck off, pleb.

Is Hot Fuzz his best movie?

>THE REDDITO TROLOGY

>cashing in on Guardians and stuff.
Is this bait? Edgar Wright has always used tons of old music in his films. GOTG wasn't the first movie to use tons of old music.

>because he likes to see a relationship work?
Saved by the power of friendship movie

No thanks.

So it was what everyone wanted Drive to be. Fuck off.

Yes.
Not an argument.

>Implying drive was bad
Found the pleb

>dat soundtrack
>dem car chases
I can't believe you fags are nitpicking the plot. Drive and most other getaway driver movies aren't about plot, they're about style and Baby Driver was pure stylistic fun.

Where did I imply that?

>Parents die in a horrifying car crash
>becomes a driver?

>parents die because i didn't reply to a shitpost
>becomes a shitposter.

The fuck is "Heel" supposed to mean in this context?

>Handsome Mad Men Man becomes Heel in the last 15 min for no reason
>"""""""" hot """""""" chick dies for no reason
If this isn't bait you should kill yourself immediately.

People sperging about Spacey's sudden character change don't seem to get it.

He became nice and gave money to Baby because he knew he was already fucked. Bats killing The butcher and his cronies was a death sentence for Doc. That's why he's prepping for a fight when baby shows up and why those dudes show up and shoot him. That's also what he meant by "never stop running" not just from the good cops but the bad ones too.

He knew he was a dead man walking and relented on Baby and gave him money/tapes because nothing mattered anymore.

But why

None of these are plot-holes, HERE is a plot-gole:

>Baby is a driver
>Baby knows the city like the back of his hand
>Knowingly takes the route that will make him pass the diner

was there any real reason to expect them to make him stop there though

Because The Butcher was a crooked cop that worked with an army of other crooked cops?

HOW WAS BABY NOT ONLY A DRIVER BUT ALSO A PARKOUR SPECIALIST AGAGAHAGAHAJAJA
GARBAGE

It was probably the fastest route and he didn't have any reason to think Bats would want to get some food.

kevin's turn was completely nonsensical.

it could have been better - for example, his motivation could have been baby's usefulness as a driver - so he wants to either shelter him or move him somewhere until the heat dies down.

that change of heart explained away with 'i was in love once' was weak.

see
Plus he had some paternal feelings for baby.

Is this one of those movies that tries to hard to be cool?

wrong, also about the kevin spacey thing, I thought the same but it could go either way when you think about it.

these

and this

but I disagree about the drive part, the script and plot are perfect and had a lot of depth to it

no

nope.

>but I disagree about the drive part, the script and plot are perfect and had a lot of depth to it
>lot of depth

No. It's a rip-off of The Driver, which has the exact same plot and it's quite shallow -- though, The Driver is a better movie due to it not putting lipstick on a pig.

slightly, yes. but it's still really fun and enjoyable.

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heel_(professional_wrestling)

>It's a rip-off of The Driver
Every modern getaway driver movie is a rip-off of The Driver. It set the template for the genre.

the back to back cuts and talking with baby and his bae were so frustatlingly plain and bad.

The only thing I really enjoyed was the cuts of the music and the action.

the blatant shilling of this movie the last week has completely turned me off this shit.

I mean they were cool and all don't get me wrong, but I have to say I think that foot pursuit was one of the best in a film.

sounds like you just wanted to hate the movie. And stop using heel, this isn't wrestling. Antagonist works just fine.

Spacey was always nice to Baby, even if he was hard on him at times. The way they met was essentially the same thing as the way he let him go.

Scott Pilgrim is vapid to the extreme that coasts on its visuals and 2010 quirkiness that is not charming today. It deserved to bomb at the box office

How was threatening to break his legs and also threat of hurting his foster father being nice?
Not letting him out of the game to have a decent shot at normal life with a girl he knew he was interested in is pretty dick too.

Though I will be honest, I don't think he would have actually gone through with the threats unless Baby really did something fucked, but coercion still isn't nice.

Also it's clear that baby was like a son to him considering he only had his nephew

nice as a criminal boss could be. I don't recall the series of events exactly, but did he threaten him before or after he learned of the tapes that possibly implicated him of all his criminal doings?

>only reason anything went wrong at all in the movie is because of Leon

What a fucking asshat.
Randomly killing people during heists isn't even smart. There's no upsides to doing that.

OP makes a shit thread for no reason

>has charisma
crash test dummies exude more charisma than this dingus

>>Handsome Mad Men Man becomes Heel in the last 15 min for no reason
Because Baby for his gf killed.

>>"""""""" hot """""""" chick dies for no reason
Because she realized there was no way out

Because he's a cokehead.

>>diner chick is on baby's dick for no reason
Cause he's cute and mysterious

>>Kevin Spacey literally changes from heel to good guy for no fucking reason / gives baby tapes just because he likes to see a relationship work?
Cause he was in a similar situation and he was basically fucked after Foxx killed all those guys

Baby Kino

Literally everything you said happened for no reason in the movie is explained and make sense given how the characters are established. You'd either have to not be paying attention or have aspergers and not pick up on character traits and interactions to miss them.

Did Shaun of the Dead cash in on Guardians in 2004 too?

Thanks for spoiling the movie you fucking retard. It's not like spoiler tags exist.
>tfw we're posting with people so pathetic that they find joy in spoiling movies for others

I disagree.

>heel

Have sex, ya pinhead

Ignore OP and go see it. It's the film of the year.

Anyone else dissapointed it wasn't as quick paced as wrights other films

I was expecting something full ADHD car action but the first car chase is literally the only one with any kind of cool shots of a car chase

...

If this isn't bait: People like you are why Transformers got four sequels.

How did he rise to prominence? Was it his raw talent? Everyone in this flick outclassed the kid. He brought nothing to his role. A cardboard cutout would've been just as effective.

Drive isn't as great as everyone thinks. The only people that could honestly think its great have to be people that saw it in their teens and its one of the first decent movies they ever saw. The same people also probably think no country for old men and there will be blood are like the greatest pictures of all time.

After. Remember he picked Baby up the next day, the arms deal shit happened, and then when he was going to dip out at 2am is when they forced him to go home and prove he makes mixtapes of meetings.

Fun fact, The Butcher was played by Paul Williams. Williams was the antagonist in Brian de Palma's Phantom of the Paradise, one of Wright's favorite films as a child.
