What are your thoughts on Saga?

What are your thoughts on Saga?

The writing and the art are both very good. However, nothing about the book is groundbreaking. This isn't a problem, as few comic books are, but it's worth noting. Additionally, I think sex may be the new violence when it comes to comic book edginess.

Its good.

At least 3 volumes behind, but what I have read I've enjoyed.

I liked it for the first 25-ish issues. But I just got bored of it. Which makes me feel bad because I once met BKV and he was just the nicest guy.

Boring, Pretentious, and over-rated

/thread

Yeah it does slow down a bit. But I'm more willing to forgive that since it is an ongoing story.

Don't /thread your own posts you pretentious hipster.

That's as autistic as quoting yourself as some kind of motivational speaker.

>That panel
Tell that to the thousands who dies on the shores of Normandy. Or everyone involved in The Somme. Or Verdun.

Started off with infinite potential to tell wild and wonderful stories.
Kinda pissed it all away.
Or at least leaks the good ideas so slowly that I lost interest around where the half breed girl showed her wings to bug teacher and killed her. Which was also coincidentally was the issue where they did probably the shitiest job ever at introducing a trans character. Like EVER. Including webcomics!

It's true though
>it has gore, swearing, and sex! That makes it deep and sophisticated like Game of Thrones or Family Guy!
It's past your bedtime, American kiddies.
*Mic Drop*

Civilian casualties, my dude.
Terrible things are done did by invading forces.
Soldiers die, to be sure, but a lot of them at least chose to fight.

Not sure I agree that lady types have it worse tho. I would just say war sucks for all involved, whether soldier or civilian, male or female, war will fuck you up in all the horrible ways.

>you will never be as comfy as the bull dragon
Why live?

Meh

The Brand>The Fat.

All downhill after killing The Stalk.

I hate this comic, but holy fuck what are you 14? Do you really think your clever?

Written strictly for Tumblr

She didn't kill her teacher.

*you're

Like I said, I dropped it at that issue, so if bug teacher lived, then yay I guess.
I've lost all the fucks I had for this series, even for piracy.

It's a Meme comic made for Reddit

Kinda like Rick and Morty

what did he mean by this?

Brian K. Vaughn is a damn good writer.

I hate the trans character unironically

>correcting grammatical errors.

Yeah, you just a pseudo-intelectual.

I only saw that, what, two pages where they were introduced, dick first, bitched about how the other prisoners there don't respect her and then gets told how she should feel by a little girl.

UMad, Bro? ;.)

Saga is a comic that is very competent in both the writing and the art, but I don't find it interesting. I understand why it's popular and honestly any top seller that's not a cape is good to see

On Bizzaro world maybe...........

I mean, yeah. Mainly because I wasting my humoring you. It's pointless really, but its funny at the same time seeing you throwing low tier bait.

Cool story, bro!

It's literally a book written by a Furry. He even asked one of his favorite Furry artists to draw a Furry story for his island series and put the yiffing art on the cover.

Prophet and Saga are as similar as Star Trek and Star Wars.

Is it wrapping up soon? It feels like it's been going on forever and it's hard to give a shit anymore.

BKV has put out a lot of really good work over the years. Y, Ex Machina and runaways are all great. He does have problems with endings and has a bad habit of making very "TV" comics but as a whole his work is good

There is literally no reason to use non-human furry characters. All stories can be told without Furry lead characters. Superman doesn't have cat ears and a tail now does he hmmmmm? Because he wasn't created by degenerates.

And Vaughn doesn't need put his unnecessary fetishes (like ) in the story. I expect this from El Goonish Shive, not Image.
It offends me.

Only read the first volume so far. Was pretty upset when the cute spider died. Don't really care much for the main couple and their kid, though the tree is cool. If I keep reading it, I'll read it for The Will.

I will try again.

Saga is not Prophet.
Brian K. Vaughan is not Brandon Graham.

You are complaining about the wrong comics and the wrong creator in the wrong thread.

>There is literally no reason to use non-human furry characters

So you have a problem with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles? That's a pretty anthro comic

T-that doesn't count because reasons!

Furries in comics is always a serious issue. These aren't the kind of things that should be promoted. These are what corrupt out society into a huge hedonistic hell-hole of despair, doom, and debauchery.
Like when Nambla tried to infiltrate the gay movement.

Yes, it's a shitty furry comic full of furries.

There is no reason why the creators couldn't have written it so the mutagen turned them into humans.

But that's what it did?

I doubt Graham is even a furry. He just reads porn comics looking for good artists since he started out doing porn comics. It's a really shitty job, but typically they don't look for much prior work experience

He's done some great work helping people get published at Image

Full human. Not anthro turtles.

Heck, why even make them turtles in the first place? Daredevil is a ninja and he isn't a furry and look how cool he is. You don't have to make Ninjas into furries.

Prophet is a different comic. Brandon Graham is a different creator. You're in the wrong thread.

I know that you don't care, but at least I can rest easy knowing that I tried to help you.

I think you might have some actual medical issues. I'm going to stop talking to you now.

Hey, I'm not the furry who wants to have sex with animals in bikinis like it's normal. It's this poison that is the cause for everything currebtky wrong in the world. This is why I vote Trump.

>Superman doesn't have cat ears and a tail now does he hmmmmm?

I know furries that are going to vote for Trump because they're all hardcore /k/ommandos

I love the art and world building, and some parts of the story.
But it does seem to try and throw as many minorities in there as possible.

Like the black ex fiance of the main dude. I have no issue with her being black but it seems an after thought as we haven't seen any other black horned characters (to my recollection).
And then how it's "suddenly penis" to introduce the transfer character.
Have gay and trans characters whatever, but don't have that their only thing about them (which is what it seems)

Transfer = trans
Phone autocorrected

I've only read the first five trades but I like it a lot. Intriguing story, beautiful artwork and compelling characters. I have the sixth in the mail and will probably read it soon.

The single best comic I've ever read

Fight me

No, explain yourself instead.

I rarely hate comics but Saga fucking gets on my nerves
It's Zen Pencils levels of pretentious.

It's just a space opera with fruity gender politics. All things considered, it's not THAT pretentious.

Well there's no accounting for personal taste. But I've read a lot of comics and there's just something wonderful about this one. Every reveal and twist and dramatic event has had me hooked and desperate to keep reading it. I love the setting, how it's kind of like a sci-fi/fantasy version of our own world. I love the art style, i love all the characters, i love the 'SJW tumblr pandering' stuff unashamedly. I think it's great.

Does it get better after the first volume or if I don't love it by then, I won't love at all?

I read it for Sir Robot

I'd say so. But if the first volume didn't thrill you, maybe it's just not for you? But the second and third volumes are really good, And in my opinion it just keeps getting better. Characters who seem one-note start to have fleshed out arcs and new characters and relationships appear. I think if there's anything at all you liked about the first volume even if you didn't love it, give the second a chance.

There were a few things I liked, but one of them died.
Might add volume 2 to my haul next month.

The Stalk?

You mean sexy spider isn't completely lost to me?
Why I do believe I will keep reading.

Oh please. It's got that "here's a VAGINA!!!!!" OH MY GOD A VAGINA!! ISN'T THAT OUTRAGEOUS?! WOW these artists are really pushing the boundaries!!!! Here's a bunch of dudes sucking each other off!!! WOW SO EDGY! And now this bad guy is a PEDOPHILE!!!! WOW SO MATURE

Okay.

Did everything you just whine about happen in that one issue where The Will visits a brothel?

One could say that Saga is The Watchmen of the 21st Century

No you couldn't. How could you ever say such a thing? It makes no sense. Explain yourself at once!

I hear this comic is really tumblr/SJW. Is it true?

What the fuck does that even mean though

It is and it isn't, if you know what I mean. Never bothered me.

So you're saying Watchmen is over-hyped shit?

It isn't?

I liked Prophet, but I'll admit even I was kinda grossed out by the pre-teen looking pleasure prophets.

And how the armless one apparently sleeps with his apprentice pleasure prophet

Really feminist and liberal, usually. Lots of "queer" characters and shit.

I know I was put off reading when I saw a dump about the tranny and lesbians.

That's why I was asking.

Oh. Well, It's probably not the comic for you then. If you're that kind of asshole. :P

This might be just me but I usually see dykes and trannies as fapbait rather an SJW shit.
It's all a matter of perspective.

>rather an
Rather than*

The fact I can't tell if this is a troll or not makes me weep for the state of Sup Forums.

I've had the dyke thing come up a lot, and I still can't really explain my distaste for them. I'm just put off by gay shit in general, regardless of gender.

>I'm just put off by gay shit in general, regardless of gender.
Well I guess that's where we differ. Cute girls or cute guys sexing each other up is just a turn-on for me, I don't care about any social justice issues.

Good for you, but that doesn't answer my question.

Is this comic full of that stuff?

How funny. It's people like you who make me weep for the state of Sup Forums. Sup Forums used to be love.

Pray tell, if you aren't a troll.

What's wrong with me wanting to read comics without being bombarded with political crap? What if I don't really care about it?

That's how it started. I didn't care. Until I got sick of it. And now I do care. I care in the worst way.

There are gay characters in it, Yes. If that puts you off reading something i don't know what to tell you.

Grow up, maybe?

The stuff you're worried about is there. I don't know what counts as being "full" of it though. The main characters are a straight couple. The main protagonists are all straight. Gayness and trannies are not what the story is about, it's about parenthood and family.

Everything is political.

People say that, and I finally found a counter argument.

It's Sup Forums related, but I finally found something with no political leanings. You know what it is? It's Kingdom Hearts.

Perhaps you'd feel safer in the Steven Universe threads. Or perhaps Unbeatable Squirrelgirl? Maybe even Homestuck?

I don't care about it in contemporary settings, but it really bugs me in more creative settings. If only because it's makes the attempt to virtue signal obvious.

>I don't care about it in contemporary settings, but it really bugs me in more creative settings
So the sexual orientation of characters should be more limited in settings that are fantastical?
Look, the story isn't about how pansexual transgender otherkin fight da evil white man, it's a story about a couple from warring species that a kid and are trying to get away from a galaxy-wide war while raising their kid. If the fact that this story features sexual minorities in it, then don't read it. It's no water off my back. You're the one who's missing out on a pretty good story because you're afraid of it depicting gays.

Wow. Somehow entire words just completely disappeared between me writing and posting that.
>couple from warring species that had a kid*
>minorities in it bothers you*

> but it really bugs me in more creative settings. If only because it's makes the attempt to virtue signal obvious.

Science fiction has always, ALWAYS been the at the forefront of gender and sexual progressiveness.

It's the vision of the author, if you want to build a universe where everyone is a transsexual cybernetic pigeon you can because it's your world. You have no obligation to build a world that looks anything like ours.

If you have an issue with "virtue-signalling" you have an issue with sci-fi as an entire genre and practically as a concept.

Star Trek: The Original Series is SJW pandering because of Lt. Uhuru, right? A black woman in a position of authority?

Don't get me wrong, I respect that sci fi has almost always been used as a vehicle to push new concepts and break taboos, and stuff like the first interacial kiss are landmarks in entertainment influencing societal change.

But I don't think transexuals and homosexaulity are something that should really be pushed as the new frontier. Especially transexuality, given it's own dubious history(look up the case of David Reimer, the one that was used to "prove" that gender was learned).

Then don't read it, problem solved. Why are you even still here? The series is obviously something you'd hate. There's nothing more you can gain from being here.

That scared of having someone disagree with you?

But we've disagreed from the beginning. You wanted to know if this series was for you. You now know it isn't. Why are you acting like an ass about it?

That's where I quit reading
I remember the dialogue being fanfiction tier too

No one's scared of you mate. We all just think you're an idiot :)
