Imagine being a young boy in the 1950s.
Your dad works, only drinks alcohol on the weekends, doesn't do drugs. He plays sports with you and your brother in the backyard and devotes plentiful time to parenting. With a single wage, he can afford to support the entire family, a comfy house and car, and even college for your older brother.
Your mom is a stay-at-home housewife. She is devoted, cooks dinner for dad every day, just the way he likes it. She dresses modestly but is beautiful anyway. She is a loving mother and truly cares about raising you right. Whenever you misbehave and won't listen to her, the threat of "wait until your father comes home" is enough to make you fall in line.
On Sunday, you all go to Church.
The Pastor decides to read from the Book of Revelations. He says in the "end of times", "half of the people on Earth would burned by a great fire" and that yet they would not repent from "their occult murders, raping and sodomizing". He then talks about Sodom, and Gomorrah, and other things you don't understand.
You try to image the society of the end days, but it sounds like science fiction to you.
No families? Occultist murders? Apostates not believing in God? Sodomizing? People being proud of their sins? Of being poor husbands, wives, mothers, fathers?
It sounds very distant to you. You cannot image how such society would look like.
