wait they brought Toph to the South Pole? whos bright idea was that?
Michael Miller
Don't know. She's actually going to be 100% blind there, so I'm not sure what the point it. Some people are upset that it's not Suki who they're bringing along, seeing as a Sokka focused story would be a good chance to include her into the story.
Ethan Miller
are people actually upset?
I thought we were pretty clear on the fact that they didn't actually end up together and unlike Katara and Aang they were really just a couple of teenagers in a war zone who didn't wanna die virgins
besides they fact that Sokka and Suki are the only "couple" that didn't have a child appear in Legend of Korra, it seems rather obvious they weren't a thing
they only real question is are we gonna get more Tokka and when are they gonna acknowledge that Suyin is Sokka's daughter
it feels pretty bad that my favorite ship is now hoping that the worst character from Korra is proof of it
Robert Wright
fuck off

>Waterbenders have the ability to construct any ice structure whenever >live in igloos for a hundred years
Jace Edwards
oh please its true, SokkaxSuki is more dead than Zutara or Makorra
Tokka might still be a thing, but I doubt it, also its not really a thing since they probably were on again off again and never really got together, just made enough mistakes to have 1 awful daughter
Austin Cook
you didn't watch the show did you?
the South Pole used to be a grand city, but it got destroy after decades of war, we saw this very clearly in the episode where we first learn about Bloodbending
Nathaniel Gray
Not upset, just feel like it's a wasted opportunity and a more natural choice than Toph. Bryke confirmed Sukka is endgame anyway. Tokka is sunk.
The only reason the Water Tribe looked so shitty before was because a) the villages were small and scattered and b) their homes were constantly attacked and destroyed by the Fire Nation. We even see a flashback in the Southern Raiders to Katara and Sokka's village when they were kids that shows it was way more build, then, everything changed when the Fire Nation attacked. Now the rebuild sites are more concentrated settlements with a big population influx from the Northern Tribe and ashmonkeys aren't constantly melting shit, so they're actually able to build more impressive structures.
Jonathan Reed
>She's actually going to be 100% blind there You uh...you know that there IS earth in the South Pole, right?
Ian Reed
>only a single waterbender in the southern tribe
Levi Brooks
There's earth under OUR South Pole, but not necessarily in ATLA's. There's might just be a huge chunk of ice like our North Pole. And besides, if she can't touch it, it's no use to her. Toph's tremor sense only works on contact with Earth, because she's an earthbender. As soon as she sets foot on anything other than good, old fashioned, solid dirt, she's blind.
Elijah Bennett
Yeah but Zuko was able to take his ice breaking ship all the way up to their village
I'm pretty sure that they live on a sheet of ice out where its easier to fish than all the way inland where they can't actually reach the ocean
Aaron Murphy
I mean I'm pretty sure Korra confirmed that there is real ground in the South Pole
but honestly its way too cold for Toph to go bare foot in order to properly use her tremor sense anyway,
Jason Richardson
>its way too cold for Toph to go bare foot Exactly, the second cover even shows her wearing some sort of footwear.
Noah Baker
well maybe she has gotten better at using it with shoes on
I mean she used to have trouble doing it in sand but she got better at that
Wyatt Lewis
And LoK made it blatantly clear that you can't tremorsence through a non-Earth medium when they deliberately showed Lin going barefoot to locate Hiroshi Sato's underground laboratory.
Nah
Bentley Miller
she did do that what are you talking about
Joseph Thomas
The sole of her boot retracts. She touches the ground barefoot.
Mason Wood
ok so
Nathaniel Smith
So you can't you tremor sense unless you're barefoot. Toph isn't barefoot at the South Pole, therefore she isn't tremor sensing, therefore she is actually, functionally blind, which was the point originally being contested by

So is this going to be Katara getting pissy at Hakoda for moving on from their Mom?

The shitfest that was Smoke and Shadows has killed my interest in these comics.

>besides they fact that Sokka and Suki are the only "couple" that didn't have a child appear in Legend of Korra, it seems rather obvious they weren't a thing Bryan said something to the effect of "the two of them moved somewhere nice and peaceful and settled down", so I think they last. Every time they meet in the comics they go out of the way to show they're still attracted to each other.
>they only real question is are we gonna get more Tokka and when are they gonna acknowledge that Suyin is Sokka's daughter Never, Suki was specifically brought back to squash Tokka. Su's dad is probably that mechanic guy from The Rift.
Thomas Fisher
The Fire Nation took all the waterbenders except Katara, who could barely bend at the time.
Mason Stewart
Thanks for thew preview OP, but this looks boring as fuck. I hope they get better writing for the Korra books.
Brandon Reyes
>I hope they get better writing for the Korra books
John Collins
>sweeties but with korra and asami oh god
Bentley Fisher
It's a continuation of LoK so i wouldn't get my hopes up. That and they have to continue with the shit LoK ended on which can only end horribly.
Josiah Price
The longer they've been together the less I'm convinced that Aang and Katara make a good couple. It all just seems forced because Bryke refuse to let go of an idea they had over 10 years ago, but I suppose that's incredibly obvious already.
It's just the way she talks about Aang, I can never imagine the Katara as she was defined in the original show ever acting this way or saying these things.
I guess with what happened in LOK they have to commit to it at this point.
Joshua Gutierrez
NO, I refuse!
Jayden Long
Suki was brought back in what? If you mean the show, Tokka teasing didn't even start until LITERALLY the episode Suki came back. And before the show ends it already looks like Toph had moved on.
Asher Martinez
Seems fun, I just wish that Zuko could have been there.
We haven't seen the whole gaang together since Sozin's Comet other than in the old friends pic and we could use a story where he is a supporting character helping his friends rather than going through more inner turmoil.
Oliver Mitchell
Zuko's tied up in Smoke and Shadow, these two stories go side by side in parts. Plus, Zuko just invites Fire Nation drama which I'm a little tired of, and part of his story now I that he can't go running around the world anymore due to his responsibilities. Though it's pretty outrageous that Zuko and Toph haven't talked once throughout ANY of the comics
Mason Taylor
It should be against the law to post this.

>That panel.
Its like they know.

Lin was shown using tremor sense without being barefoot multiple times in LoK. Even her sister did it with shoes on. It actually started to annoy me when I was watching the series, but maybe it actually is possible to use the ability without being barefoot. Or maybe they had special footwear for it and Lin only bared her feet that one time for fun.
Regardless, Toph won't be able to see
Alexander Cruz
Toph is only as blind as the plot requires her to.
For some reason she has always been capable of seeing aerial attacks except for when Sokka threw the belt at her.
Ryan Brooks
She can see aerial attacks of an opponent who is on the same surface as her by sensing their footsteps and weight distribution and shit and then calculate the trajectory of what they're attacking her with. But yeah, sometimes they're on a different surface altogether and it makes no sense.
Cameron Barnes
>Its like they know. After the "he sleeps in the tub" thing, do you even doubt it?
Samuel Hill
This was the greatest bullshit. There's no way she'd be able to tell what's happening on a different boat. She freaks out when she has to swim or ride on Appa, so she couldn't possible be able to locate a projectile, launched from a catapult on a floating ship.
