Reminder, when asked why no one else got the RA position before/instead of Ruth, Willis said "all the other applicants were worse." Not even that they did poor in the interview, but that they'd literally would be worse RAs than a person who can't even muster the motivation to get clean and dressed.

He usually goes for a closer shot, and some kind of three quarter view of the face. Whenever he zooms out it looks weird, mainly because his art is lazy. This strip is even worse than usual in terms of drawing.

Setting aside the other problems with the comic, this strip is a prime example of why most webcomics are terrible. They stick to the panel layout religiously and draw things too literally, despite the format not fitting the content.

Carla is just standing stiffly in the same position 3 out of 5 panels, Ruth doesn't move either, and the perspective isn't interesting. Here's a pro tip: if you can copy and paste the same thing 3 or 4 times because it suits the story, maybe your story is vapid shit.

Here's an example of an improvement:
Panel 1: Carla hesitantly creeping toward the bed
Panel 3: Carla slowly about to tap her on the shoulder
Panel 4:Carla recoils as Ruth's reply startles her
Ruth can stay the same in this case.
He could also use a different fucking shot in each panel. It looks like it was filmed by a spectator that has no interest in these people.

I'll never understand why people pick a visual medium and not take advantage of it.

That's Willis for you, keeping the same layout and adding unnecessary panels in every strip. I know you said most, but really some webcomics can do much better, even with a strict repetitive layout. Actually there are many webcomics that don't go with a fixed format, but it all depends on the execution, and I totally agree about about your last sentence.
