Is VR the future of the theatrical experience?

Imagine being in a movie theater that goes wherever you go, and where you can actually pause the movie.

...and no bedbugs.

thats called a VCR

>watching movies on the big screen whilst sitting on the toilet

The future is bright.

nope, VR like 3D is a flop

Pepe please.

VCR is dead.

>buying the first gens
>dying of brain cancer a few years later

Anyone know a good app that will give me that experience but can also stream videos/movies from the internet?

I don't think it'll replace actual theaters because it completely lacks the social aspect of watching movies with another person, but I could still see it becoming a regular thing on it's own. I'll buy one once there are more options and the prices level out.

Yeah but where is the virtual falcons or virtual popcorn mines?

Which platform are you on?

It's just an android phone with a google cardboard-style headset

Cmoar Theater.

VR is just the far end of the spectrum. Lightfield tech is the future of the film industry.

Try Cmoar.

I mainly use my Oculus for porn.
Watching porn in VR tends to be an extremely nice, immersive experience, as long as you're watching the videos tailored specifically for it.
Its pretty nice seeing the actresses right there in front of you, giving you a front row seat on all the action in 1080p (or 4k if your pc is beefy enough) Its all right there, inches in front of your face, so close you can almost smell it, and it tricks your brain so well that your mouth involuntarily opens for that puss and those tits even though you 'know' its not real.
VR has a good chance of being the future of all things cinema, if only the price would go down enough for everyone to be able to experience it.

thanks ill give it a try. ive been looking for a way to enhance my avgn experience

Mainstream plebs don't even realize what they are funding when they buy VR. Light-field tech is already here. The industry is just waiting for developers and hardware to catch up. The film industry is heavily invested in the startup companies.

>lacks the social aspect of watching movies with another person

That shits gonna be amazing once it gets more well known and 'out there' in the public.
Whats that company thats doing it? I forget the name, but the website had a tiny elephant sitting in someones hands

MagicLeap and Microsoft Hololens are the two most popular examples of it, but there are literally over 100 startup companies getting into it now.

Google, Apple and Facebook are all in the game now too.

Wrong. You both have glasses (eventually contacts or implants) on. As you look toward the other person you see them. As you look back forward you see the film. You could literally be sitting next to someone else enjoying a different movie with no need to buy expensive TVs.

Once you have a mixed reality headset you'll have a TV wherever you want it. You can project one in front of you as you mow the fucking lawn (already did it with my Hololens)

hololens uses ligh-field?

Not technically. It was the first step toward it. In the end it's all just math.

how is it the first step towards it if hololens doesn't use light field and light field existed before hololens?

I've tried so many VR cinema apps on a couple phones of varying power and i can confirm CMoar is the best one. It has the best graphics and runs the smoothest while also having a wide array of different ways to view videos.

I do wish they would bring back the feature to choose your seat.

It's just a term for a better approach to the same problem. They both use clever math and physics to achieve the effect. Pretending they are completely different because someone invented a term is dumb.

but friend simulators like red letter media have already replaced socializing

what exactly do you think light field is?
