called estate taxes in the IRS code. conservatives have the political term "death tax". basically if you die and your estate is worth over 5M (or some number close to that) then your estate must pay taxes on the transfer of wealth to your children.
biggest argument against the estate tax is that it impacts farmers. farmers have extremely valuable land and when they hand it over to their children the kids often have to sell land to pay the taxes.
like in the case of trump, his estate (kids) would likely have to sell assets to pay estate taxes. it's pretty shitty IMO.
