So hear meout on this i'm operating on another fucking plane here.
In steven floats, we learn something very important about magical gems. They take emotion, and manifest the emotion as a magical effect. Steven feels light, he gets lighter. He feels heavy, he gets heavy. This is a simple operation. I realized that the gems are able to perfectly regulate their emotions, and do so automatically to manifest their form.
In other words, they're basically bar graphs. They just output emotions based on programming, with very little complexity.
And you can see why steven is a being of superior magical evolution compared to native gems. The shapes of his projected emotion allow for godlike power to be achieved.
